Vick Indicted - Again

The ESPN "town hall" was a disservice to Atlanta as a whole.

From what I've heard they wanted exactly what they got. That's not to say this town isn't about race 50% of the time...I guess it is for many people. I grew up in Illinois. At leasr two of my G-G-Grandfathers fought in the Union Army (and I think one fought for the Confederacy). We never had racial issues when I was growing up - at least not like here. But then...I didn't grow up here so it wouldn't be fair for me to be judgemental. detective.gif

I grew up in a small town here in Georgia and I thought that was bad...until this nonsense with Vick came up. I had no idea racial tension in Atlanta is as bad as it is. Have any of you visited the Atlanta Falcons forum before? I couldn't believe some of the stuff that gets posted there. That gave me my first indication that there was a problem. I truly believe the pro-/anti-Vick thing isn't about Vick at all anymore. When people become emotionally invested in something, it get's wierd. It's kind of hard to describe what it's all about now confused.gif. But I doubt that Vick will play another game in the NFL and I'm pretty sure that BOTH sides know that by now. This has to be the most bizzare end to a pro football career ever. I hate it for him. He could have been so much more. Hopefully, younger guys learn what NOT to do from his example.

I have a number of family members in the midwest. From what I can see the biggest difference in terms of racial tension is that there aren't as many minorities in a lot of those areas.

This Vick thing has definitely been an ignition point for racial tension. Kind of like OJ-lite. Had Vick actually tried the case it could have been worse. Realize things are as bad as divided as they are and he admits committing felony offenses.

I actually had a thought on the MV7 case...he is in a vulnerable position now. How do you get out of that? My advice would be "phuck the NFL"...do your time...apologize to dog owners...say you weren't involved in the torture/killing of the 8 dogs...and go play in Canada. That would stick it up Goddell's arse. Set a bunch of records in the CFL...get on ESPN every weekend. That would cause a serious backlash from the AA comunity against the NFL.

Plus: get yourself a nice place in Mexico...where dogfighting and smoking MJane is basically legal.

Also....fight as hard as you can to keep those roster bonuses. detective.gif

Good point and you are right. We only had 5 black families in the town I grew up in (3900 pop). One produced the center on our basketball team (we take basketball serious in So. Ill.)

But honestly...I was good friends with his brother, and the other black kids. The midwest is a different world.

People get along. eheheh.gif

P.S. - the (black) center of the basketball team was also the escort to the Queen of the homecoming dance (they weren't dating though). I've got the yearbook to prove it.
