Premium Member Diesel Posted May 5, 2003 Premium Member Report Share Posted May 5, 2003 http://www.hawksquawk.net/forums/showthrea...&Main=22786 Earlier this year. I called it. Duncan would be MVP over KG, Kobe, and Tmac. Reason being... He graduated from College. D Stern wants to keep his NBA prestine and ot give over to the HSers and underclassmen. Especially with the Flop of Battier and the coming of Lebron James... Stern is afraid of what will happen. Soon you will have HSers with shoe contracts skipping college and coming directly to the pros and nobody will want to watch second rate College games. HS games will be aired on ESPN more than College games. It's starting and Stern can't stop it. KG should have been the MVP. He led his team in every category but fouls. Admin chillzatl Posted May 5, 2003 Admin Report Share Posted May 5, 2003 KG didn't deserve the award, period! Everyone wanted to give him the sympathy vote because it appeared he might actually, FINALLY, get his team out of the first round. Didn't happen though. Every player who got votes would find his team in the lottery if he wasn't there. Duncan is the better player though. He definitely deserved to be considered. But he wasn't the MVP. I don't care how good his stats are ON HIS TEAM. His numbers were only up only slightly over his previous years. MVP's do more than put up stats. I do give him props for FINALLY stepping it up in the postseason though. It's something that has been missing from his game and he finally brought it this year. cyman3
is it not like ROY and MIP awards? where theres several guys voting w/ a voting system... the guy with most votes = winner. or is it different for MVP? does Stern hand-pick the MVP? Guest
hmmmm. I do believe that the same writers vote (could be wrong) but am positive that each voter gets five votes of their choosing and each rank is assinged a point value...totals are reflective of such
Guest
All all do respec to Duncan, the Spurs didn't exactually whip the 8th place Suns.
Guest
but the voting is done prior to the start of the postseason...and if you think about it, with matchups, the Suns were about the worst pick the Spurs could have had (amongst the lower half teams, Lakers excluded).
