What's really missing?

There are several things, some small and some big, that

this year's Atlanta Hawks seem to be missing. You are

welcome to add to or take from as you see fit.

Donkey kicking leadership, both from the coaching staff

AND someone on the floor. Call players out when they mess

up. Don't be shy - - tell they, "You messed up!"

Enforce it. If any player won't listen, set his a$$ on

the bench AND let them know why. "You keep messing up."

Know the game plan and execute it. Be willing and able

to make adjustments on both ends of the court.

Quit standing around on offense. If this is the game plan,

change it. Keep the players AND the ball moving. If

a player is tired, we have a deep bench, use it - - But,

keep moving - fast!

We have some players who bring energy - - When things begin

to become stagnant, which it happens every game, be willing

to put a stop to the "Sleepwalk Mode" we see by changing

the personel.

Learn to box out and rebound better - Improve the defense

by switching and help coverage.

Learn to listen to the coach and do what he says.

And finally, realise that the team is more important than

any one player. Put aside that ego and become a team.

Either one of two things happened here.

I get no response to this post, therefore

I must assume one of two things has happened.

1- Everyone agrees, which would be a real shock.

2- I have everyone so confused they don't know what to say.

I agree. The root of our biggest problems right is the head coach. I don't know if Woody was competent to begin with, but I do know that he has lost his effectiveness with this group of players. Time for him to go. If they don't get rid of him soon, they risk wasting all the time and effort that has went into rebuilding this team. I would hate to see that happen.

Mule,

I think the truth is that everyone does agree. At least everyone who wants the Hawks to be a better team.

As to the other poster, If we had Speedy 100%, I think we'd be closer to 13-2 than 9-6. That's just MHO...

Totally agree with you!

There is noone on the floor calling people out when they screw up. JJ is a captain in name only. He is not a vocal presence out there whatsoever. When players screw up on the court, there is no coach getting in his face or sitting him for a while. It's like the team is just running itself with noone steering the ship. If this is obvious to all of us, why isn't it obvious to ownership? Our last hope is that Acie will be that vocal leader we so desparately need.
