DavidSomerset
We have attempted 1, I repeat ONE 3 pointer this entire f'ing game. The Pistons have attempted ELEVEN. These teams that actually throw up 3's every now and then can get in front of us so easily. Why in God's green earth do we not even try to shoot 3 pointers?? It's freaking pathetic. TRADE FOR SOMEONE WHO IS GOING TO SHOOT THEM IF THESE PLAYERS WON'T!!!!! I'm so tired of this crap.
TheTruth
I am a bit surprised that we have only attempted one so far this game, but the fact remains that we are NOT a good 3 point shooting team...at all. Outside of T Lue (who does not start), Joe Johnson (who only shoots it decently, nothing to strike fear in defenders), and Salim (who will either make 7/10 one night or 1/10 the next), we don't have anyone who can remotely throw it in the ocean. (I won't comment on Acie yet since he barely shoots the ball as it is). Furthermore, out of everyone on the team, not one player strikes fear in the hearts of the opposing team when it comes to their ability to shoot the 3 consistently. It's just how it is...Consequently, we don't shoot as many.

BHayley
We can't get ANYONE in position to shoot. Our offense is such a mess. We have incredible pure shooters like Marvin who is just too G***(*@#$& timid to take a shot over 15 feet. I don't see why we can't go for Jason Kapono or ANYONE. Get someone off Toronto--I don't care who.

Gray Mule
Sometimes the Hawks do shoot the three. Just sometimes. It doesn't seem to be part of their overall play - it just happens. This, I agree, needs to change. Marvin, one of our better guys from outside, rarely gets outside the three point circle. He has always shot a lot from just inside. Josh Smith will try - Sometimes he hits one, then is likely to fall in love with it - very inconsistent. All our PG's will, on occasion, find the three point range and hit for us. Joe Johnson shoots the three. Sadly, this entire season his shooting has been less than great. He scores a lot but he shoots a lot. Many of his shots come when he is covered by two or sometimes three - that's true. But, we have watched as he missed the wide open three - not just once but several times. Stoudamire runs hot and cold with his shooting - There's no middle ground with him. He is very capable of burning the net from outside. Quick with his catch and release, he can score points in bunches. Instant offense. That's when he's hot. That's what we keep him for. We know he can explode at any time. When he's cold, which seems to be every time he is on the floor right now, every shot refuses to fall. Horford and Shelden might, on occasion, find themselves drifted outside and be forced to try a three. Either one might hit from beyond the circle but this is not a main part of their game. Maybe, once a week they might have this opportunity, but not very often. Josh Childress, I believe, is the most consistant threat from outside. When he sets up in the corner, finds himself open and ball in hand, drains the three over and over. This happens when Josh S. or JJ drives inside, draws the double team and kicks the ball outside. That's probably one of the few plays that the Hawks have which imvolves the three. Question: Who is it that we want taking the three? S.S. - But, only when he's hot! J.C. - Open from the corner. J.J. - We know he can. J.S. - Sometimes, but not often. All our P.G.'s - In the flow of the game.
JackB1
I wish we would pick up former Gator Lee Humprey. That kid was one of the best 3 point shooters I have ever seen in the NCAA. When he gets rolling, he can hit 4, 5 in a row. True, he wasn't great defensively, but as a situational player to come in and hit a few 3's...why not? I think he went to Europe to play, but I'm sure he would drop it all to play with Al and the Hawks/NBA.
TheTruth
As someone else stated, it appears as though Salim is getting a fair amount of minutes to let loose on the 3s. He really could be that guy, but so far this year, his shooting (especially from distance) has left much to be desired. Now, if only he could start playing like he did last year... But seriously, we do need some more outside shooting. Just as in football teams will stack the box if your QB can't pass effectively, teams will collapse on us closer to the basket if we can't make them respect a legit 3pt threat.
