It's 100% the refs fault, so at the very least, we shouldn't get punished for it (i.e. fines etc.)

TheTruth
Meh, it's David Stern though. THAT is what has me worried...
LOL_Hawks
Well, since the refs followed the letter of the law, we should have the win. We'll have to see if Stern really wants to screw the Hawks or if he's gonna man up and make the right call.

That's what has many fans of the NFL pissed off--too many things aren't reviewable anymore. Let's see if Stern follows the expressly written rules or decides to circumvent them and establish a dangerous precedent.
Hawk88
What a great game. Wasn't the play already reviewed by the officials? It would be a travesty to take away this win. Sometimes I think the NBA is like the WWF. Rookies get no calls unless they are well known and the stars get all the calls. The NBA likes to orchestrate and enhance the superstars. And then here come the Hawks trying to build with young players not getting the calls. Poos Solomon Jones has not chance unless he lands with a top team that can provide him some respect. He practically gets his arm taken off on a jump shot and gets no call. Hopefully the Hawks are getting some young stars now to get the call. thesheedera
Y'all are crazy if you think Stern will go against his own officials in an effort to keep the hawks down. First of all, there is no conspiracy against the hawks, especially one that would be in favor of the raptors (china is the growth market, not canada). And second, even if there were, Stern's more loyal to his officials than he is to any other group. His #1 priority is the public perception of his organization, and the refs are a direct extension of his office. He'll protect them to no end. frosgrim
What amazes me is that we are arguing over a .1 of a second. Since a ref has to push a button on his belt when HE sees something occur, there is going to be human error no matter what. Its part of the game and should always be part of the game. The old addage of "never put yourself in the position where an official has to bail you out" applies here. Toronto had the Hawks beaten but let the Hawks back into the game. The Raptors deserved to loose that game, just as much as the Hawks would have if the roles were reveresed. The Hawks have been on the bad end of these sorts of human errors over the years, it was past time we got something to go our way. Toronto, I am certain, has benefitted from a bad call or two along the way. The point here is that as long as bad calls are relatively evenly distributed across a season, then no one should really complain, it will all come out in the wash- esp when we are talking about a human starting a belt device while watching a live action play. thefloydian
Another thing about that play is that since the clock only shows tenths of a second, we don't know how close to .4 it actually was before it started. The ref could have started the clock a split second early, and because the clock was really at .50000, it would immediately show .4 seconds left as soon as he hit the button. You can't expect the guy to hit it at exactly the right time. He's human.
