THE DAILY (7-10-03).

Atlanta - Recent reports indicate that red tape and lawyers are slowing down the process of David McDavid purchasing the club. It doesn't look like there is much chance of the deal being completed by the time teams can begin signing their free agents. That also leaves the club pretty much in limbo when it comes to being able to discuss deals with other teams. And the Hawks are a team that needs changes -- as has been discussed more than a few times in this very space. But, now it is looking more and more like the team will have to wait until the season starts to make some deals.

NBA Report (7-10-03).

Atlanta free agent DerMarr Johnson is playing for Memphis, and scored 25 points in the opener. But he only had three points in the next game, on 1-of-10 shooting, no less. At any rate, I think Johnson can become an absolute steal for someone this off-season.

Georgia Blue boasts NBA-caliber coach (7-10-03).

Lang is a 6-foot-11, 270-pound example of what hard work and persistence can do. The NBA journeyman played for seven different teams. He had his best season as a Hawk in the 1995-'96 campaign when he started all 51 games he played and averaged career highs in both scoring (12.9 ppg) and minutes played (35.6 mpg).

His players look up to him in more ways than one.

"He played in the top league so of course we're going to listen to him," said small forward Josh Kvam.

Kvam doesn't remember ever seeing Lang in action, but his grandfather, [censored] Helm, now an assistant with the Toronto Raptors, coached Lang as an assistant for the Hawks, alongside Lenny Wilkens.

Good to hear Dickau is looking forward to the challenge of running the ballclub. That's what I like about Dickau and Hansen they believe in themselves regardless what others think and are willing to work hard at improving there game to be the best they can be. On a sad note hate the news of the deal being slowed down on purchasing the team. McDavid said he would have it did no later than mid July now it looks like it will be later in the month if then.
