In addition, AOL Time Warner (AOL: Research, Estimates), which owns three Atlanta professional sports teams as well as CNN/Money, is negotiating to sell its basketball team, the Hawks, its hockey team, the Thrashers, as well as its lease on the arena in which the teams play. But those negotiations with David McDavid have yet to be concluded, although McDavid told the Atlanta Journal Constitution Saturday, "We think it's all but done. We're trying to get the final thing back to get it consummated this coming week."

The Spurs And The Agent (7-29-03).

http://www.woai.com/spurs/story.aspx?conte...99-DBB46C78EAE7

Stephen Jackson won't be back with the Spurs, but don't blame the team. They gave Jack a great offer. Don't blame Jack, he wanted to be back, but his agent thought the Spurs were bluffing, and they weren't.

“We made it clear that we would do something else if they didn’t get off the schnide,” said Pop. “They didn’t do it, so we did something else and we moved on. We couldn’t wait around. And the chances of him being back are not good.”

As in no chance at all, right now the best bet is the Atlanta Hawks. Sad thing is Jackson could get less money on a horrible team than he would have if he would have taken the Spurs offer at close to four million a year.

THE DAILY (7-29-03).

Atlanta - This offseason has been one of ups and downs in Atlanta and it's conceivable the Hawks aren't done tinkering with the roster. Theo Ratliff has been the subject of many rumors, but is trading him a good idea?

"Can someone tell me how it's been a summer of ups and downs when we've only made one move?"

I guess they're talking about this ownership tease we are going thru. One day the deal is sealed and the next day, there are still details to iron out. I'm to the point where i don't give a [censored]. Let's just get a coach and start preparing for the season. [censored] what McD says. If he's a smart man, he'll realize it's in the best interest of the franchise...
