HawkTodd
McDavid era nears for Atlanta (8-4-03). http://famulus.msnbc.com/famuluscom/bizjou...31.asp?bizj=ATL .................................................................................... Before and After (8-4-03). http://www.nba.com/features/beforeafter_030804.html NOTABLE FREE AGENTS Dikembe Mutombo From: Denver Nuggets to Atlanta Hawks When: After 1995-96 season Hawks' record in 1995-96: 46-36; record in 1996-97: 56-26 Deke's stats, 1995-96: 11.0 ppg, 11.8 rpg, 4.49 bpg in 74 games Deke's stats, 1996-97: 13.3 ppg, 11.6 rpg, 3.30 bpg in 80 games Analysis: Mutombo provided the defensive presence the Hawks were sorely lacking in the late '90s. His arrival signaled another three years of playoff appearances and the Hawks' best record in three seasons. The Hawks traded Mutombo in the middle of the 2000-01 season. .................................................................................... THE DAILY (8-4-03). http://www.hoopsworld.com/article_4781.shtml Atlanta - Last Friday it was reported here Atlanta was in talks with Dallas and Portland on a blockbuster deal that would have brought Atlanta Arvydas Sabonis, Bonzi Wells, and Raef LaFrentz. Today, it seems those talks have died. .................................................................................... NBA Power Rankings (8-4-03). http://www.insidehoops.com/power-080403.shtml 28. Atlanta Hawks - They got cap room next year, but this year, who's going to fill Big Dog's scoring void? .................................................................................... The Blazers Report (8-4-03). http://www.hoopsworld.com/article_4776.shtml Atlanta and Indiana Atlanta has some interest in Damon. Damon’s contract fits with Atlanta’s salary cap flexibility goals which are after the 2005-06 season, but Damon does not fit in well with Jason Terry, Boris Diaw, and Dan Dickau in the backcourt. As for Jason Terry, there is no real interest from the Blazers, I am told, and the Hawks are waiting to see if Terry signs a deal with the Jazz to establish market value and then the Hawks will match the offer. This is likely to be similar to the Blazers and Bonzi last season where the deal will get signed in August or September once teams realize the Hawks will match. Gray Mule
Are we there yet?? No, not yet. Now, the middle of August {That's only 10 days } so we may be closing in. Here's hoping that this quote applies to the Hawk's deal too: As the gal in the mini skirt bent over, it was said: "The end is in sight." Glowing report about our hopeful new owner in this article. We can only hope that most of it is true. Atlanta sports fans, who already proclaim their Falcons and Braves to be among the best in their respective sports, hope they can soon say the same about their Thrashers and Hawks. Didn't sound like McDavid would "Gut" the Hawks, get rid of everyone and start over, but would come in to build. Don't hear anything much about the Thrashers in all of this. They are a relatively new, expansion team, apparently improving each season and may just now be ready to become really competetive in Hockey. Premium Member Diesel Posted August 5, 2003 Premium Member Report Share Posted August 5, 2003 Don't get your hopes up. I think we might be floudering like this until McDavid gets his way. Or at least, that's how it feels.

Again, note the lack of intrest in JT.....We should low ball him because he has nowhere else to go.
Premium Member Diesel Posted August 5, 2003 Premium Member Report Share Posted August 5, 2003 I agree. 6 year 42 million. It's perfect for us and I don't think he can get any better on the open market next year when the real SGs get out there. If the Hawks keep him, this would be the deal that I offer at the beggining of the year.
Guest
perhaps Billy Knight knows all of this and that's why there has been no offer. The question mark is on JT's playmaking ability. You can watch the film and see that we had too many games to were we got blowout and didn't score til after we had been blownout. It's about being able to control a team under pressure. Not when you are down by 20 points, not in trash time after the game is basically over, but it's being able to run on offense game in and game out and being competetive. There was alot of nights where we got blown out and didn't score until it was trash minutes.
