"I know Dallas wants Brian," the insider said. "Donnie thought he had it done, but when he woke up Friday, Miami backed off because Dallas wouldn't give up Nick Van Exel. Miami felt it was too tough to give up Grant for nothing." Ok, here's the deal. It's obvious that Nellie is in the trading mode. Dallas gets Grant/Theo.... 24 million. Atlanta gets Finley....... 13.5 Million. Miami gets......CC/NVE......13.5 Million. Dallas has built a great frontline: Theo/Grant/Dirk. Miami has the PG it needs and is out of Grant's contract: Walker/Odom/Butler/Jones/NVE. Atlanta has it's SF.... JT/Diaw/Finley/SAR/Stepania (FA)..... Traceman
The guy can't be all that good. Miami is making no effort to resign him and they are in desperate need of a Center. Nazr is better than Stepania, bad foot and all. As for Finley, I would have LOVED to have traded Theo for him prior to the Dog deal but now, will it really help us very much? We might be better off rebuilding with younger guys because if we trade for Finley, by the time we are ready to get better in 05/06, he'll be nearly 33.
