thefloydian
Marvin played a good game. Hit a clutch 3 late, followed by a bad turnover, then hit some clinching free throws, though he's going through a little slump at the line. B+ game. He was 11-13 from the line tonight. FrankWhite
He was 11-13 from the line tonight. You're right. He missed one early and one late and I got that thought in my head because of his off night last night. My bad.
DChawk
When Marvin's playing like he did tonight he's one of my favorite players on the team. In fact I think he maybe our best defender. He's the only one who gives a consistent defensive effort through out the game and really digs in to stop his man. He may not have the athleticism of Josh Smith, but he's become very fundamentally sound on D and his added strength has made him a much better rebounder. I doubt he'll ever be a all around threat on offense (I don't know why, but he just seems to struggle in the paint and can never finish after contact) but if he can knock down the three and hit his jumper while also getting to the line like he did tonight then he'll be a starter in this league for a long time. I know people think you can just go sign some specialist to fill his role, but I think they are underestimating what he brings to the table on most nights. Good to see him out of his slump and I hope it continues. He should lose the faux-hawk though.
frosgrim
Marvin also had the defensive play of the evening. That last driving layup by LBJ was off because Marvin got position. Frankly, that should have been an offensive foul on James. Marvin had position and James just ran him over. Despite that Marvin throws off the layup, then gets up in time to disrupt James enough to make him pass back out for someone else to take the last shot for the Cavs. Great work by Marvin tonight. Premium Member mrhonline Posted December 14, 2008 Premium Member Report Share Posted December 14, 2008 It's time this board recognizes that Marvin's defense has become more than solid. Do you remember how lost he would get during his rookie season...? He's come a LONG way since then defensively.
uga2006
Marvin is just an all-around player. Dude only takes 6 shots yet gets 19 pts because of going 11-13 at the line. People can continue to hate Marvin but he has alot of game and potential still. There's no reason for this guy not to be a beast he can do it all.
