UGA offers MIke Anderson fromMissouri

That is huge. It would double his salary. I'm sure that MO will also make him an offer. Personally I'd want to get out of Missouri just because of the climate and local.

I am hoping they get him.....But now the AJC is reporting he has not been offered yet according to his agent.

I heard "rumors" that the best offer Mizz can put on the table is $1.3 mill per year. Anderson is currently making between $800 K to $850 K. A $2 mill offer may be just enough to get it done !

Hope it happens !

Dogs need some wings to put the ball in the hoop ! They have two solid freshman returning in Thompkins (top 20 national recruit) as a PF and Ware as a PG. Just no talented scoring wings. They also have some frontcourt depth in Barnes and Jackson returning. Neither are studs but they are good role players.

Price has tranfered which really does not matter. He was just a less talented version of Thompkins. Swansey is tranfering too but he is just a bench PG at best.........he just think he is better then he really is.

They have a good 6'11'' kid coming out of Loganville Christian named Daniel Miller. the kid is much more offensively skilled then they current starter, Albert Jackson. They should compliment each other well. He is rated as the 8th best post player in this years recruiting class.

Thanks for the update on the team..... I think they can beat out Missouri....more concern with Memphis...if Calipari leaves....maybe Kentucky if he doesn't .... although I think Kentucky would go after Capel next if that happens.

A person familiar with the contract negotiations who requested anonymity to avoid contradicting the university's public statement said that Anderson will earn a base salary of $1.3 million. Anderson's Missouri predecessor, former Duke assistant Quin Snyder, earned a base salary of $1.015 million before he was fired three years ago.

The deal comes after Georgia reportedly discussed paying Anderson a base salary more than $2 million a year, according to a person with knowledge of the offer.

"We hired a coach who probably left $700,000 on the table," Missouri curator Don Walsworth said. "We have a proven coach who has appeal to the citizens of Missouri. He's all about honesty and integrity."

Article ended above.

Not a good sign when a guy turns down $700 K.

I wish they would give Quinn Snyder a call. He could be had for $800 K a year. He is coaching in the NBDL now. Call the entire Duke assistamt coaching staff !

I am afraid that any "big fish" they call will simple use us as leverage to get more money from their current school.

The guy I see them turning to now is Baylor's head coach Scott Drew. He is 39.

I think it speaks volumes about the state of UGA basketball when a guy turns down a much more lucrative offer. I do have to say that I like Anderson for staying at Mizzou. Shows a lot of commitment to the team he recruited and the university that gave him a chance.

Where does UGA go now? Who knows. Memphis is now looking, UVa and Arizona are all a head of UGA in terms of prestige jobs. My guess is UGA is going to end up with a second tier guy, again.

Us UGA fans have to face it, until we get rid of Stegman, we aren't going to attract a big-time coach or a big-time recruit.

Sigh.
