The Atlanta Hawks will kick off their first round of workouts in preparation for this years draft on Monday June 14th. The first group of players that the Hawks will get a closer look at is a collection of combo guards with some unique skills. Terrico White, Elliot Williams, and Dominique Jones are all projected as late first round picks while former Michigan standout Manny Harris is projected as a second round pick. The Hawks will have the 24th selection in the first round and the 53rd selection in the second round.

The Hawks will be working out players from June 14th through June 22nd in preparation for the draft on June 24th.

Individual player breakdowns for the four players that are scheduled for the June 14th workout can be found after the jump.

Terrico White

Six Foot Five inch combo guard with explosive jumping ability. Had an outstanding pre draft camp in Chicago. Played more as a shooting guard in college and whether or not he can play the point position at the NBA level is a big question mark. One of the early favorites for the Hawks to draft in our draft primer posts. Appears to be a solid option for the Hawks in the first round.

Elliot Williams

Williams attended Duke as a freshman and then transferred to Memphis as a sophomore to be closer to home while his Mother was dealing with an illness. His declaring for the draft was a little bit surprising to some but he is definitely on the first round radar. Williams skipped the Chicago combine with an injury that he might have suffered during a workout for the San Antonio Spurs. He has not had any workouts since leading for teams to guess that his injury is either worse than expected or he has received a promise from a team in the middle of the first round. Will be interesting to see if Williams in fact shows up to work out for the Hawks. Draft speculation has him going as high as the 20th pick or as low as the start of the second round.

Dominique Jones

Jones is a Six Foot Four Inch combo guard from South Florida. He has an NBA body but really lacks elite athleticism. Jones is a good rebounder for a guard and does a nice job as a scorer in getting to the basket. His biggest weakness is the lack of a real mid range game and the fact that he is a weaker ball handler. That will ultimately hurt his chances at playing the point guard position. He is another player that is projected as a late first rounder or possible early second round selection.

Manny Harris

Harris is an athletic swing man from Michigan and is an intriguing prospect as a potential second round selection. He was a do everything player for Michigan. He is athletic and can get to the rim as a scorer. He is a great free throw shooter and scorer that will need to work on developing his perimeter shot. He is an excellent rebounder and a more than capable defender. Harris’ biggest weaknesses are his jump shot and perhaps a little bit attitude questions some of which popped up during Michigan’s disappointing season. Harris is projected as a second rounder and it will be interesting to see how he does against the other players in the workout.
