CBAreject
Freddie Freeman goes 5 for 5 tonight with a homer and 4 RBI against Durham Bulls. Freeman is hitting .435 in August and .397 in 40 games since the All-Star break with 8 homers in that span. BTW, Troy Glaus is mashing at AAA in his rehab assignment. In 3 games, he's hitting .467 with 2 homers and 2 doubles. Just maybe the week of rest rejuvenated him. If he could actually come back and play 3rd for the Braves and allow Prado to move back to 2nd and Infante to CF or LF, it would make our defense stronger and more importantly remove one weak bat from the lineup on a nightly basis (Ankiel or Melky). If that happens, and especially if Lee starts to hit, Frank Wren will look like a genius. If it all comes to fruition, this lineup actually looks potent and devoid of instant outs. Infante LF Heyward RF Prado 2B Lee 1B McCann C Glaus 3B Gonzalez SS Melky LF
Moderators lethalweapon3 Posted September 1, 2010 Moderators Report Share Posted September 1, 2010 Well he's movin' on up... http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20100831&content_id=14141378&vkey=news_mlb&fext=.jsp&c_id=mlb ATLANTA -- Freddie Freeman was named the International League's Rookie of the Year on Tuesday. When the Braves continue their four-game series against the Mets on Wednesday, Freeman will make his much-anticipated arrival to the Major League level. The Braves confirmed Tuesday that Freeman will be among the Minor Leaguers promoted when rosters expand Wednesday. The highly regarded first baseman hit .319 with 18 homers and an .898 OPS in 124 games with Triple-A Gwinnett this year. Freeman, who will turn 21 on Sept. 12, has long been targeted to serve as Atlanta's starting first baseman next year. While hitting .351 with 13 homers since the end of May, he has provided the Braves every indication that he's ready to be challenged at the next level. "He's been screaming pretty loud for about a month," general manager Frank Wren said. "He's done everything and more that we could expect from a 20-year-old at Triple-A. He's played extremely well and just gotten better and better. He's carried that team." Freeman, left-handed reliever Mike Dunn, right-handed reliever Scott Proctor, catcher J.C. Boscan and right-hander Kenshin Kawakami will all be added to the Major League roster Wednesday. ~lw3
Dexmethylphenidate
I just heard on WSB he's in the lineup tonight. It'll be interesting to see how he swing the bat and if he has any plate discipline. But anyway, don't they have any good outfielders to bring up from the minors? Why they need another catcher? Ross been pretty good backup Mccan. Edited September 1, 2010 by Playa

For example, late in a tie game, McCann gets a single, and you pinch run a utility infielder for him. You fail to score, so you have to sub in Ross who is one of your best hitters off the bench. When you need a pinch hitter the next inning, you've already burned Ross. If Ross later reaches, and you want to pinch run for him, you can't because you have no catchers to replace him in the event the game continues.
frosgrim
Thought Freeman looked good last night. His bat is faster than i thought it would be. Looks like he can put a charge into the ball. The only thing he did wrong last night was hit into the teeth of the defense. Some of those are going to get through for him as he gets more ABs. I'll take a line-drive hitter every day over a guy that hits long fly balls. Haven't seen if Freeman will be in tonight. My guess is Lee gets the start, he seems to be heating up. Well I guess if you put it that way... but explain why Kawaikami and MCclouth has been called up? Martinez looks to be better than Kawa.
CBAreject
Well I guess if you put it that way... but explain why Kawaikami and MCclouth has been called up? Martinez looks to be better than Kawa. This is just the stubbornness of Bobby Cox. Christhian Martinez should've gotten the start tonight. There is no excuse for letting Kawakami give away a game in the standing to the hard-charging Phillies. KK wasn't even getting guys out in the minors. He's absolutely horrific, and every inning he pitches says "we don't really want to win this game". We have much better options at AAA and AA than KK right now. Todd Redmond also could do better for 4 or 5 innings than this tub of human waste.
Dexmethylphenidate
I don't get it either. The reason they got sent to minors was to improve but if they can't either hit or pitch in the minors then what's the point of calling them up again? Give someone else a chance. Martinez got a good 4 innings of work and got sent to the minors as a reward.
