Premium Member Diesel Posted February 6, 2011 Premium Member Report Share Posted February 6, 2011 Do you think dear old dad spends a 2nd round pick on him? Do you think dear old dad spends a 2nd round pick on him? If Drew Jr. doesn't play anymore college ball, does it break any rules for him to practice with the Hawks? Admin capstone21 Posted February 6, 2011 Admin Report Share Posted February 6, 2011 (edited) God no...he is a terrible point guard. I am a fan of UNC and watch every game. He can't run an offense and was a big reason for the team's struggles the last two years. The last 4 games that Marshall has started the team has finally gotten a fluid offensive flow. Drew II has no business in the NBA and should only be a backup point guard in college. After that, his career should be ended. I don't even think he is good enough to play in Europe. Premium Member mrhonline Posted February 6, 2011 Premium Member Report Share Posted February 6, 2011 (edited) How much less accomplished is he than Mario West or Pape Sy were before the Hawks signed them? To me, this screams Sund telling Drew, "We'll draft him in the second round next year, especially since we're likely to have three draft picks. We need a cheap, defensive guy for a 3rd PG anyway." Joker
He's not a NBA PG, Sy has decent potential and West was a defensive specialist. Drew Jr. is just an average college PG at the moment, I wouldn't be shock to see him transfer out West.

Premium Member Diesel Posted February 6, 2011 Author Premium Member Report Share Posted February 6, 2011 He may have been awful with Roy. He may have been awful with UNC's system, but let's not make that to mean that he's awful altogether. DE on Drew. I know it has to be very illegal for him to start working out with the team now... Although if he declares, then all bets are off.. I just wish he had the character to stick with what he started. Maybe he had the last straw with Roy Williams. Maybe Williams didn't respect a coaches son. It happens. However, he should have stuck it out. Maybe he got a promise from dad and he knew that by dropping out, he could guarantee that he wasn't picked up before the Hawks second round pick?? At any rate, if he starts working out with the team today... he could become our PG of the future? as a second round steal!!
Admin capstone21 Posted February 6, 2011 Admin Report Share Posted February 6, 2011 he could become our PG of the future? as a second round steal!! A steal?? That is hilarious. He will never make it to the NBA. Have you ever watched him play? He can't handle defenses focusing on him, he can't pass the ball to the right guy, he can't shoot outside, he can't score and he is turnover prone. Why would he be our pg of the future and why would we waste a pick on him at all?

Do you know that 70 something percent of 2nd rounders don't make it? The second round is a shot in the dark. Especially late in the 2nd. Why not! Admin capstone21 Posted February 7, 2011 Admin Report Share Posted February 7, 2011 (edited) There were similar comments about Rondo. Name of external link Have you watched this kid play at all?? I bet it is no because if you did there is no way you would even be saying that he is worth drafting let alone proposing he is a steal which I find hilarious. You don't get it. He is bad. Really bad. The only reason he was starting was because the team had no other option. He can't dribble under pressure, he can't pass to the right man, when he does pass it is not at the time so his teammate can never get a good shot off, he has no jumper to speak of, he can't score, he is not a good penetrator and obviously he is a quitter. The only thing he does well is that he plays decent D. You can't put him in the same category as Rondo. Your links are about what people on this site were saying about Rondo. If you read anything about Drew II's decision you will see that people on ESPN, SI etc are saying the same things....he is not good and UNC is not going to miss him. This kid is not NBA dleague quality or even Europe. His career will end with whatever team he transfer to. He is a college player backup who started because there was no other option. Just because his father is the coach and he use to play in the NBA does not mean that Drew II is NBA qualtiy. He is a backup in college. Joker
Rondo was still very talented and showed flashes. Drew doesn't show flashes yet. He's not a NBA PG at the moment. He needs to transfer to a Princeton style team and regroup. Doc Rivers oldest did that and now he's a good college player.

He has the school's record for single season steals; is in the top 10 for single season assists; and averaged almost 50% fg% and 6 rpg. He was a stud who didn't mesh with Tubby's system and had more growing up to do when he left the program before he was ready to lead an NBA team - but he was a genuine stud. ATownWhatup
he has great potential but right now he is not an NBA pg. I think the pace of the game and just his overall aggressiveness needs to be established and increased. I understand that comes in time and with practice but a little more time.
