Probably a team option, it surprises me though, I expected a 3 year contract or a 2 year contract with a 3rd year option.

I'm not expecting Stephen to have a breakout season this or the next, but if he had who's to say we can afford him since we won't have full bird rights.

No. It's a good deal. We don't overpay for his services now, and when the contract comes to an end, the Hawks will have the cap room to keep him if he's worth keeping.

Honestly, this season depends on how big JACKSON plays...

if he proves EVERYONE here and ESPN wrong and comes out big w/o TIM DUNCAN... we can make that 8th seed.

if everyone else is right and that his game isint as effective with MR. MVP, its gonna be another long season.

I just don't want to have a Arenas sort of situation on our hands...and I would like to know who's option that second year is...it won't be a problem if it's a team option, cause we'll have "potential" cap space in two years...but we don't have a ton next year, not to resign someone without any rights to them...

one thing no one ever considers is what if this team starts to gel and plays well next year (starts this year, excels the next) and then is faced with FA's SJax, Theo, Reef, Hendu et al???

I figured that it would be a player option.

Signing for that low would mean that if he has a good season he will have a chance at some better money.

If not he still have a contract here.
