Is Wesley Johnson better than mike Scott at the 3?

If he is how about a sign and trade for Scott and our first next yr? If we make the playoffs that's a 20-30 pick that we apparently don't ever want to use lol... The incentive to take Scott would be the first. Can't see the lakers doing it straight up or with second rd picks included...

This is wrong for so many reasons.

A) Most players are better than Scott at the 3, because he's a 4. Horf would be a terrible 3 too. LOL

B) Scott doesn't have some toxic contract. If he were a FA he'd probably get $15 mil over 3 at least. He's at 2 for $6.7 mil.

Scott has a limited role for the Hawks but if injuries occur he's a good guy to have around and a waaaay better and cheaper #8-9 option than most teams have.

ok...but say the Hawks want Wesley Johnson. He's considered an upgrade and you have a chance to sign him for say 3/18-21mill. You would rather keep say a lottery protected first than add a starter to your team? The loss of Scott is irrelevant for the Hawks if your replacing him with a better option.

Whoa whoa whoa. Johnson isn't getting anywhere near a 3yr/$18m contract. He made less than $1m last year, and he's trying to make a tad more than that. The most I could see anyone paying him would be $3m per year, and even that is probably overpaying quite a bit.

But honestly it's market driven. The raptors didn't pay Joseph that money because he was worth it. They paid it to outbid another team or two. If there are 2-3 teams after Johnson that want him and have space he'll get pd... if it's 1-2 teams that are strapped he won't..

This thread is off the rails.

Right now Wes market value is vet min. That's right 900+k.

In a bidding war like with Bazemore, at most he's worth 2 million per. Due to the options, some better than him in the market, it's unlikely you will get a bidding war for him.

Since you want to gets his bird rights, you do a SnT. At the most, you want to give is 2 mil per. For him, you might even do 4 years. He should receive no more than 4/9 and no less than 3/5.

Contracts are based off of production with NBA vets. If the production isn't there, you can't ask for a much money especially if teams don't feel you are worth a roster slot.

To answer the question, yes Wes is a better SF than Mike Scott because Scott is a 4. So is Dorell Wright, Tay Prince and most SF's in free agency.

Chances are, we might have to trade a 2nd or rights to XnX player to LA simply because LA doesn't have to do a SnT. We might have to trade Mike Scott to clear caproom any way, regardless of Wes Johnson or anyone we want to sign due to Sap's signing and Splitter trade. So chances are, we might have to trade Scott and a 2nd but it won't be for Wes Johnson. It's more so do to the fact that we have to stay under the cap at least by July 9th.

Well considering Cory Joseph just got 4/30mill avg 7/3/1 idk....

Demarre avg 12/5/2.

Johnson. Avg 10/5/2

Cory Joesph had a market, is paid based on potential and is 23 years old with four years of exp. Different standards as it's seen as Cory still has a lot of growth left.

We will see I guess. ill gladly eat crow if we could sign a potential starter for 2-3 mill/ in this market...We did with Demarre but the market has changed. We just paid 8.5 for a bench player in splitter...

Splitter is a spot starter center. Those get 8-10 mil in this current market and they aren't easy to find.
