hawks1
Atlanta Trades: Theo Ratliff, Nazr Mohammed, Terrell Brandon, Stephen Jackson, Alan Henderson, Chris Crawford, Atlanta's 1st Round Pick 2004, Atlanta's 2nd Round Pick Atlanta Receives: Tracy McGrady, Grant Hill, Wesley Person, Jeff McInnis Why Atlanta does this trade? Well, quite obvious, they get Tracy McGrady. However, they take on Grant Hill's contract (which is paid by insurance by 80%, and team takes care of 20%) and give up their first round pick this year. However, could the Hawks get a better player with this years #1 pick. With Wesley Person, have a shooter and also cap relief after this year. (Hawks should later trade Boris Diaw to the Bobcats + 3 million dollars this year for taking Grant Hill's contract. Bobcats only will have to pay the 20% not covered by insurance and then can waive him. He has 42 million over three years left, so 20% is 8 million - 3 million = 5 million -- that is why Diaw is added.) With Terry, Shareef, and McGrady -- watch out. This trade is the big splash the new owners would want to make. Portland Trades: Rasheed Wallace, Damon Stoudamire, Wesley Person, and Jeff McInnis Portland Receives: Theo Ratliff, Terrell Brandon, Juwan Howard, Gordon Giricek, Nazr Mohammed, Tyronn Lue, and Alan Henderson Why Portland does the trade? A front line of Theo, Randolph, and Howard is pretty tough, even for the west. Plus, they get more capspace with Terrell than with Wallace b/c he comes off the books this year (so save further luxury tax this year). Finally, they get Damon's terrible contract out of there also. Moreover, they fans get their wishes by the team ridding themselves of terrible ego Wallace and Stoudamire without giving up picks and young talent like Woods. Orlando Trades: Tracy McGrady, Grant Hill, Juwan Howard, Gordon Giricek, Tyronn Lue Orlando Receives: Rasheed Wallace, Stephen Jackson, Damon Stoudamire, and Chris Crawford, Atlanta's 2nd Round Pick, Atlanta's 1st Round Pick Why Orlando does the trade? Hardest pill to swallow is trading McGrady. But with potential of him leaving at the end of next year, get Wallace for him. Furthermore, ridding themselves of Hill's contract and then Wallace's major cap room and plus get great draft picks from Atlanta this year will make it more palatable. Combine Atlanta's pick with their own, capspace, they could start over and form a great team.
