"Playing not to get hurt" isn't even for top tier HSers about to get drafted. If Labron James can keep playing hard enough to hurt himself then the guaranteed contract DJ can manage to step past the GD 3pt line on offense during the summer league, a league favoring driving to the basket, if only because during the regular season he WON'T.

DJ need not work on his jumper in the summer league. He'll do that all season long. He GD should be working on his lame a** ball-handling and any shot other than the 3pter. Damn, I hate 3pt specialist #6 picks! It just makes my stomach turn to see such athleticism self guarded behind the 3pt line. He shot more 3pt attempts per FG attempt than Hubert Davis damnit. Rant over.

Dermarr will not become a better ballhandler until he decides to stay low with the ball while he is dribbling. I am pretty sure the coaches have told him this,heck I even remember Mike Glenn commenting that DJ needs to stay low with the ball to have more control of his dribble and to keep it from getting batted away. Maybe Dermarr needs to spend sometime during the offseason with George Gervin like Dion didin the past or have Mark Price come in and tutor him, doesn't seem like Lon is getting through to him.

A guy like DerMarr needs an individual coach to improve his technique. Kruger nor Mussellman can do that. He needs a big guard/small forward type to work with him on the nuances of the game.

Apparently, he wont listen to Nique or they dont want Nique around, so maybe Alex English is the answer. Both were 6-8, 6-9 and could handle the ball for big men.

the perimeter. He did take four 3's but he went to the basket on several occasions. He also took his man off the dribble and took some shots. Unfortunately, he didn't have a lot of success when he was trying to be aggressive. He needs to continue to be aggressive but he also needs to learn how to complete the play once he has made an aggressive move. Just because he isn't having a lot of success being aggressive now doesn't mean he should abandon all attempts to go the hole or to take his man off the dribble. He just needs to keep getting reps in game situations because that is the only way he will impove in those areas.

I agree with both of Africa's post DJ is looking like a scare child. He should be raping the competition in this league, unless the hawks told him to just play around and let other players do th brunt of the work, I doubt that though.

As for Dickau I say one thing "OVERRATED" He is ugly and plays like Craig Ehlo/Stockton/Rumeul Robinson. Although he will make a fine backup I dont see his as anything more than that. So stop trying to trade JT so DD ca start.
