Hawks aren't just playing out the string here -- they've won two of their last three and pushed playoff-bound Memphis to a 136-133 double-overtime shootout last night in Atlanta.

ATLANTA HAWKS: Back and forth for 58 minutes the Atlanta Hawks and the Memphis Grizzlies battled. The fought so hard that by the time the dust settled each team had finished the game with just one big man because all the other dependable ones had fouled out. Despite taking a lead inside the final minute of the second overtime, the Hawks just couldn't hold on and the Grizz came through with a 136-133 victory they probably didn't expect to be so challenging.

The Hawks actually received permission to hire Doc Rivers, and Time Warner wouldn't allow it.

I'd say that there is a 90% chance that Doc Rivers will be the head coach in Atlanta, and I'm betting that when Orlando dumps Johnny Davis, he will come to Atlanta as the top assistant. It will be interesting to see if Dominique Wilkins joins in as a member of the coaching staff or if he gets a more prominent job in the front office. I can also see Kevin Willis coming back in some form.
