Wurider05
Let's be honest for a second. No one will sign with us outright. The only way that we will get anyone is to trade for them. I say we go for Marbury. We can't probably get any worse than we already are. His contract runs out before our guys become free agents (restricted that is). We are to the point where we have to take whatever we can get our hands on. No need to talk about attitudes, etc. We can't afford to be choosey. Hell we couldn't even land a bum like Steven Hunter. Hughes is not coming here, Joe Johnson isn't coming here, Dally isn't coming here, Curry isn't coming here, CHandler isn't coming here. The only way we will get anyone will be through trades. Hell, I don't see anything wrong with having Marbury here in ATL. He was a team player last year but New York sucks. They didn't win that many more games than we did with what 1/8th the payroll. There are alot of New Yorkers in ATL who would pay to see Marbury. He may have a Nash like effect here in Atlanta. If this trade is some how possible we need to do, no more chasing bums who don't want to play for us. We don't have Sh*t to loose. Let start taking chances. Remember the bulls took a chance on drafting two high schoolers and now it appears to be paying off for them. It appears to me that we aren't trying hard enough. ROLL THE DICE!!! ggp
No. We trade for a Center.
jumpshot
We do need to roll the dice and overpay for a free agent center. Who cares if we overpay, because our team is terrible. The best trade that I've heard is Harrington for Curry. Daly, Chandler, Curry, and Z should sign with there own team for the max or become a HAWK. Buzzard
This quote from the Chad Ford post: Quote: Team president Isiah Thomas is trying everything to remake the team's roster. That includes, according to multiple team executives, offering Stephon Marbury to the highest bidder. The problem is that no one seems interested in the four years, $76 million left on his contract. 76 mill guaranteed over four years. Lets think about this. OK lets not. Unless this guys name is Magic=no way!
djcorley
Nah, Marbury doesn't fit what we're trying to build. I think his presence would sell tickets and he'd be fun to watch. But, he wouldn't want to come here at this stage in his career. We need guys that want to be here because those are the ones that play hard and don't cause problems. We don't need Steph. WE NEED BIGS!!!! Young athletic bigs that can run the floor with Smoove and Chillz block some shots, rebound the ball and outlet! That's what we need. not Steph! Weez
of those, Curry is really the only one to be a 'max potential' player. and he's the riskiest of the bunch as well. that's not rolling the dice my friend, that's playing roulette.
jumpshot
Your right it is very risky, but the next couple of years will not matter, because we will be in the lottery still. The only way we want be in the lottery is if Curry comes and plays well. The length of his contract is the most important.
Wurider05
We need to do something. Earl Watson just won't cut it.
Nicholasp27
a) u don't take a risk just to take one...we could go sign some random on the street for 10mil/year and say "we're taking a risk and rolling the dice!" b) chi didn't turn around overnight, and it wasn't just those 2 hs'ers that helped them...gordon's 4th quarters took them to the playoffs... c) we have taken risks...getting chill/smoove/marvin/al/donta/diaw...let's give it some time to see if it pans out d) marbury is not the type of pg that will make smoove/chill/marvin better nor will he take us to contention e) marbury is 30 and will be on the downslope by the time we are ready to contend f) he has 4 years left, which means it will interfere with the resigning of chill/smoove/etc g) if we wanna take a risk, do it on something like max for daly, who could possibly help us contend if he works out...or even a high offer or trade for curry, who could work out if he grows a heart (attitude, desire, fire) and stays healthy don't gamble our future on a non-winning, overpaid past-prime player
Wurider05
I don't mean just sign a bum off of the street but rather someone who would be productive.
Blunt91
Marbury is 28 or will be 28 not 30.
