Belkin hit by car

Damn I wish, but there was a glimmer of good news today.

The ball is in the Bucks' court.

After Zaza Pachulia signed a four-year, $16 million offer sheet from the Atlanta Hawks late Tuesday night (and not the four-year, $4 million deal some Milwaukee print and broadcast outlets reported), the Bucks will now have less than seven days in which to decide whether to match it.

The scuttlebutt around the lNBA is the Bucks will allow Pachulia to walk. Marc Fleisher, Pachulia's agent, told me more than a week ago playing time was a major concern for his client.

Tis said, "The darkest hour comes just before the dawn."

Desperate for another center or 2, maybe, just maybe,

the Hawks have found one. We hope so.

Belkin may yet pull off the JJ deal. He not only has made

himself, but the entire Hawks orginization, look very

bad by what he is doing. If he DOES get all the deal

fixed to his satisfaction and signs off, will whatever

he gains be worth it in the long run?

Who set up the deal? Whoever did, apparently thought

that everyone was on the same page and approved of it,

as it was set up. Did Belkin not know what was going

on? If not, why not? Why didn't he speak up sooner?

If Belkin wanted everyone's attention, "Look at me!"

he certainly has succeeded. Dang. What a mess.

Unlike Phoenix, Milwaukee can afford to let Zaza walk because they have better options (Bogut, Smith, Gadzuric). Matching would also put them dangerously close to the luxury tax over the life of that contract, particularly the last three years of it.

IMHO, they'll let him go.

That's how I'm looking at this gray mule. One week from now we could have JJ and Pachulia on our roster. Even if this situation has made us looked bad, the JJ signing is a great accomplishment for the Hawks as long as it goes down.

My greatest hope is that Belkin gets all his power stripped as a result of this. Then we can move forward and put this bad moment behind us.
