I think that by the time we break camp Collier will no longer be on the team and Edwards will be the # 3 C on the team at the very least he preformed well enough to stick with the Pacers last year so maybe he will be good practice fodder

You don't guarantee (perhaps for 2 years) practice fodder. Collier is practice fodder and we guaranteed him for 2 years also.

Esteban Batiste could happen to the NBA

The Uruguayan would play like professional

AFP

AFP

31 of August of 2005

Santo Domingo - the Uruguayan center Esteban Batiste could be contracted by an equipment of the NBA, according to trusted close friends of the celestial delegation to the AFP Santo Domingo, seat of the V Championship FIBA Américas of básquetbol.

Batiste demonstrated its power in Premundial

Batiste, that Friday turns 22 years, was observed by representatives of Minnesota Timberwolves and another equipment of the NBA during the preworld-wide American, whom it has been transformed into one of the great figures of the match.

Before the day of Wednesday, the center led the statistic of bounces with an average of 15.6 by party, with a total of 78 in five games, as well as the one of offensive bounces, with 5.2 by game (26 altogether).

In addition, it was quarter between the maximum anotadores, with 20.2 points marked by party, third in robberies (with 2.0) and fifth in blockades (1.2 of average).

This Wednesday, in the party in which Uruguay lost before Venezuela by 101-99 and was outside the fight by one of the four cupos that the match grants for the World-wide one of Japan-2006, Batiste wrote down 25 points and captured 18 bounces.

"Batiste has an enormous potentiality and still it did not arrive at the one hundred percent", said to Wednesday the celestial trainer, Alberto Espasandín. "Still it is in formation stage and it must continue learning", added the DT, that emphasized the very good level that has shown in the preworld-wide one.

I glad to see we're getting a player who is good at getting bounces, robberies, and blockades.

So in other words, the Hawks are looking at tigger who does a good job building defenses opposing armies can't penetrade and likes to get things with the good ole' five finger discount........WTF?

the entire 'attitude' of these Batista threads make me laugh.

we sign John Edwards, who's a legit 7'0 275 and is 'scrappy' and likely to play only when it's a blowout or we need a big body for fouls/ to simply clog things up...and most of the board's consensus is to 'hate' the signing.

Now there's talk of signing an relatively complete 'unknown'who dominated Central America's ball, but is 'only' 6'10...and people are 'gushing' over the 'diamond in the rough.

I don't know squat about either one...but how the board can be so markedly dichotomous in reactions is pretty laughable.

John Edwards may be a "legitimate" 7', 275 lbs but unlike Batiste he in NO WAY resembles a legitimate player.

When you lead a tournament (including this hemisphere's best including NBA talent such as Duncan) in rebounding, are 5th in scoring, 6th SPG, and 10th BPG at age 22 (all better than Tiago Splitter and Vareojo, two highly touted latin american big man, NBA quality prospects), you are worlds better than an average player at no name U. who just happens to be slightly taller.

This tournament does not have this hemisphere's best including NBA talent such as Duncan. The USA team is made up of players from the NBDL and the CBA. There are a handful of players from the NBA on other teams but none who have proved anything. The talent here is marginal at best. He put up good numbers but if he is so good then why are the Hawks and Warriors the only ones interested, at a price of 900,000 for 2 years?

As of now nothing is official, besides us offering him a contract. How disappointed will this board be if another team signs him. Currently Cleveland is desperate for another big man with the injury to Anderson Varejao. He seems to still be shopping or at least waiting to see if something else comes along. He is unrestricted and this deal could be completed if he wanted it to be.
