  1. Maybe Wright didn't want to play here? He does seem the better option. Carroll has been in the league for 3 years compared to 8 years for Wright. Maybe Ferry thinks Carroll has more potential? Who knows?
  2. That's a very valid point. But Kobe was also a lucky pick. He was the 13th pick and came straight out of high school. No one had a clue how good he was going to be (I'm sure Laker fans will argue this though). And that was barely a lottery pick. No tanking would be required to get that pick. To me, neither strategy is guaranteed or even necessarily better than the other. A lot of it is pure luck.
  3. The Tapatalk one is. Tapatalk 2 cost like $3. Not sure what the difference is. I just paid for it since I'm such a big baller lol. I'm sure the free version works perfectly fine though!
  4. I hope you don't think you're arguing with me lol. I'm just pointing out that Kobe wasn't drafted by the Lakers. I'm not taking sides on this issue. I think either strategy takes a certain amount of luck in the pick, the timing of free agency, and the timing of available trades. I could care less about this tanking vs not tanking discussion. No one is going to change anyone's opinion so what's the point? Carry on....
  5. Lakes traded Vlade Divac to the Hornets for Kobe. Not that it really matters. Just wanted to point that out.
  6. It did the same thing for me. I just installed the Tapatalk 2 to check Hawksquawk and its awesome. I would strongly suggest using it or another similar app. I think I actually prefer it over my browser on my desktop now.
  7. I believe the foul occurred after the shot. You know? When the Hawks won. At least that's how the league sees it.

    Dahntay vs Kobe

It must have been due to Kobe's "serious sprain"....that he played with. Wow, must be really serious. I remember when I had a serious sprain back playing high school basketball. I was in a cast for several weeks. But yeah, I'm sure Kobe's is real serious too...
  9. That's ridiculous. I'm not sure which is more ridiculous though, the fact that it was called a flagrant 2 on Barea or the fact that Ray Allen got all pissed off. I mean seriously! He got bumped and when down to the ground. There's no crying in basketball. He's not getting injured on that play. Well, maybe Ray Allen is with his old arse.

That out of bounds call on Korver was ridiculous!
  11. Smoove isn't going anywhere. We are going to resign him this off-season. It is obvious that he is being presented as the face of the franchise. I think he is going to finally be happy being the number one on the Hawks.

Ok, I liked this post, but it deserves more recognition than that. Love it!
  13. I think he did a great job. Commentating is not the easiest thing to do. At one point he said something to Smoove as he was re-entering the game. Rathbun asked him what he said and T.I. responded with, "I told Josh to attack inside the paint." He went on to talk about how Smoove had a decent mid-range shot, but he was at his best in the paint and on the block. Smoove repeatedly attacked inside (with limited success, but still). It was great to hear T.I. talk up Smoove and the rest of the Hawks. He was all about the Hawks and Atlanta. He also mentioned how Smoove was the heart and soul of the team, Smoove loved his team and city, and a number of other things. It was really nice to hear/see an Atlanta celebrity be so positive on the Hawks and really seem to be a true fan. I would love for T.I. to become a minority owner and step up the marketing on the Hawks. Jay-Z talks about Lebron and his ownership of the Nets all the damn time (being from Brooklyn). It would be fantastic to get more of that from people like T.I.
  14. It is possible that we didn't have the right piece to send to Denver. We are all quick to assume that our management wasn't willing to make a move, but I think that is a flawed assumption based on this offseason. Oh, and am I the only person that wishes we could have scored Iguodala instead of Bynum? If I am Ferry, I am trying to get him without giving up a starter. I think the biggest problem for us right now is that most of non-critical talent can't be traded together yet.
  15. I could care less what Brooklyn does overall. Joe Johnson did great things for this team and franchise though. I would be perfectly fine pulling for him and Deron in the finals.
  16. Yeah, I saw that. That sucks. I liked Triche even if he is a Saints fan.

    SMDH...

Ok, so I wanted to focus on one thing... trading Smith. You don't trade a player because he doesn't fit in perfectly to the typical team layout. This isn't football. You trade value for value. That value can be talent, salary, potential, or whatever. But that is how it works. That is why the Joe Johnson trade is a win-win. We aren't trading Smith just because the perception is that he is unhappy with Howard going to LA. These are grown-arse men. They are big boys. They don't have to be on the same team. They have each other's numbers and can still be friends. Smith has a huge value to this team and appears to be excited with what Ferry is doing. He was sad to see Joe and Marvin go, but this is now Josh's and Al's team. That is it. It's up to them to take care of business. I think Smoove will rise to the challenge no matter what Hotlanta says about him. And I think having all of these 3pt shooters around him is going to be DANGEROUS!! Let's get it Atl!!
  18. McGrady definitely had his place last year and contributed at times. He also hurt us at key points in games when he suddenly thought he was 5 years younger and injury free. Last year we took a chance on some role players that used to be great in hopes that they had enough left in the tank to get us over the hump. We are now changing the team for the future (not rebuilding of course!). The future is in the youth not in past players. Let McGrady go to Miami, or Boston, or LA, or some place that is trying to find that last piece today. I would rather take a chance on a young unproven SF with potential (the evil P-word!).
  19. According to Hollinger, the trade exception will be between 1.65m and 2.75m. Here's to hoping it's 2.75m!
  20. Nevermind. I saw the Carl Landry deal and thought Willie Green for some reason. Doh!
  21. Great audio clip. He sounds like he has his head screwed on right and is excited to be here. That's right! A player that isn't signing for the vet min is excited to be here. A sign we are moving in the right direction! Oh, and one more guy that can reach out to Dwight next summer.
  22. It's a three team deal and is now done in principle according to the Chicago Tribune: Though details had to be finalized and Kyle Korver had to pass a physical, the Bulls agreed in principle to trade the 3-point specialist to the Hawks via the Timberwolves on Friday, two sources with knowledge of the talks said. There were late indications the three-team deal could fall apart, though that didn't stop Korver from scheduling a flight from his offseason training base in California to Atlanta for the physical, the sources said. Chicago Tribune Good pickup. I would have rather had him via Hinrich S-n-T, but I will still take it.
  23. Please, please, please tell me that this means no more CP3 draft pick references in the future.
  24. Exactly. Brooklyn couldn't afford to keep this up. As soon as another team signed Lopez to an offer sheet they would be screwed on getting Dwight. An offer sheet would have prevented Brooklyn from using Lopez in a sign and trade. They would either see him leave for nothing in return or they would have to have matched the offer. By matching the offer sheet they wouldn't be able to trade him for another year which would force Dwight to go in free agency. Lopez would have definitely gotten a max offer sheet today which is why Brooklyn had to cut the talks and sign him out right. By killing trade talks and signing Lopez they can potentially trade him in January still (they have to wait 6 months due to the increase in his salary or something). Brooklyn being out of the short term picture definitely enhances our chances, but I wouldn't hold my breath. Even if Dwight wanted to stay in Atlanta (after a trade) he wouldn't be able to. He would be leaving entirely too much Adidas bonus money on the table by not going to Brooklyn.
  25. I think you right. I could definitely see that being the case. Let's hope that we somehow keep him.
