  1. I hate to keep hitching my wagon to the next new crop of rookies we get but it looks like Al Horford and Acie Law have skill sets noone else on the Hawks and are very important pieces going foward. Maybe Al can be a superstar.
  2. Quote: Acie is a much better point guard than Bibby! In that 1st quarter when Bibby was just firing up contested fade away Bricks, the offense looked chaotic. Law came in and actually ran the offense. Just another example of Woodson's inability to develop young talent! Most of the season Acie looked good after a few consistent games with minutes but inevitably he would get hurt and have to reset. Leading up to the end of the season Woody just suddenly stop giving him minutes. IDK why. Truthfully, Boston didn't play that well, but still kicked our teeth in. I hope the good hawks show up in game 3.
  3. I liked what Acie did tonight. I think going foward he will be fine. Woody is the one we need fired. We have no offensive discipline or system. We looked lost on offense.
  4. Western Conference (1) LA Lakers v (8) Denver Nuggets (Lakers in 6) (4) Utah Jazz v (5) Houston Rockets (Jazz in 7) (3) San Antonio Spurs v (6) Phoenix Suns (Suns in 6) (2) New Orleans Hornets v (7) Dallas Mavericks (Mavs in 7) Eastern Conference (1) Boston Celtics v (8) Atlanta Hawks (Celtics in 5) (4) Cleveland Cavaliers v (5) Washington Wizards (Cle in 7) (3) Orlando Magic v (6) Toronto Raptors (Magic in 6) (2) Detroit Pistons v (7) Philadelphia 76ers (Pistons in 5)
  5. LMAO while feeling sorry for this dude. I hope his friends never see this picture. They are going to kill him.
  6. Does anyone know when the draft lottery takes place? No. I just found out and I don't give a damn. Woo hoo. That is all.
  7. Quote: Monty Python and the Holy Grail Hate is a strong word. Are you sure about that.
  8. While I liked the movie I have to agree with not liking the part of Brolin's death. I don't mind so much that he died just that they didn't show it after such a great chess match during the movie. As far as Tommy's comments at the end, he was simply stating how his time has passed and he doesn't fit with people are today thus the name of the movie, no country for old men. Without that part, the title doesn't make any sense to me.
  9. Found this article of Yahoo. Haven't totally read it but wanted to share. http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_ylt=Arxt...=yhoo&type=lgns I was fortunate to play on two NBA championship teams, but I’ve also played for teams that had no possible shot at winning a title. So it’s easy for me to see when a team has that “it” factor. It’s even easier to know when a team doesn’t have it. What do you have to do to become an NBA champion? There are a lot of teams vying for the coveted Larry O’Brien trophy, but only one can have it and this season has the most parity I’ve seen in my years of following basketball. There are telltale signs that show whether a team is ready for the trophy. If you go through this checklist, you can see if your favorite team is ready to win it all or go fishing early. 1. Style of play: A team should have a defined style. Are they a halfcourt team or a fastbreak team? Are they defensive oriented? A team needs a defined style, so when things aren’t going well the players can return to the system’s set principles. 2. A quality point guard and an inside presence: Having an inside-out game is what gets you easy baskets. 3. A superstar: Not a really good player. You need a superstar, a potential Hall of Fame player. Someone who can take over a game. 4. A beast: This doesn’t necessarily have to be your most talented player, though it usually is. You want a player who doesn’t panic when things go bad. A player that takes the big shot or makes the key defensive play. Someone with enough experience to steady the team when the pressure rises. 5. A great bench: You need guys who can come in the game and change the momentum. And if you don’t have anyone who’s even close to being Sixth Man of the Year, you better be wary. 6. Adversity: There is a point in every championship season when the team vows to play harder, smarter and, most importantly, play together. That usually results from adversity and it happens in a variety of ways: an upsetting loss, a players-only meeting, a trade or an injury to a key player. 7. A magic moment: This often follows adversity. Pulling out an important victory when you’re about to lose. A shot that goes in from halfcourt. A record-breaking winning streak. 8. Chemistry: There doesn’t have to be a love fest going on in the locker room, but championship teams need to have players who respect each other and their coach. A team that respects itself is a team that grows. So go down this checklist with an objective eye. You’ll soon know which teams have a chance to be champs and which don’t.
  10. Quote: Likewise, it doesn't take a basketball genius to see over 4 seasons that Woody really doesn't have a coherent vision for this team. It's been like this as an team since this rebuild started. First year Josh is a 3 then he's a 4. Shelden is a 4 then he's a five. Joe is a 1 then he's a 2. Al Harrington was a 4 then he was a 3 when Walker got here, or vise versa. Can't remember. Al Horford is a 5 but he could be a 4 within 2 season.
  11. Quote: Bibbys play was very exciting and if he could have finished on a couple layups late we may have stole the game. On the fast break near the end with Bibby and Joe where Bibby missed the lay-up nobody else ran the floor. Josh, Marvin, and Horford were with them and none of them did this. Woody called the time out after and he was yelling at them for this very reason. These losses are not always Woody's fault. It's the small thing we always have to do to win which we don't.
  12. Quote: Marvin: Looking bad lately. Game has become very one demensional. Hit the little 15 footer or nothing else. I always like when he runs the floor, cuts to the basket, and gets to the line. Now all he wants to do his shoot his little jumper. Very soft. Lacks confidence. Not Chris Paul What's really bothering about Marvin right now is that he never pushes the ball. On a fast break he gives the ball up to early. He looks for the first person he can find to pass the ball to bring it up the floor even if it's ZaZa. That pass he made to Horford that resulted in a turn over on the two on one is a classic example. The Hawks have been playing really stupid. They seem to have one of the worst collective b-ball IQ's in the league.
  13. c'mon man. Don't do that. You scared the sh*t out of me. They meant he won't be in Atlanta because of the five game road trip but he will be with the Hawks.
  14. I don't think Billy is going to change his mind on what type of team he needs to build. He doesn't seem like the type. It's hard to see the Hawks making it work if Phoenix has given up on the system.
  15. Quote: I don't wanna be negative, but i think the nba would add Turkoglu to the allstar team before Smith. I agree. I think either he or Ray Allen will probably get the nod.
  16. What does this say about the so called future of the NBA that Phoenix set the mold for. It's looks like their abandoning it because they no longer think it's championship caliber. Doesn't bode well for us with our undersized lineup. If Phoenix with Nash and Stoudemire couldn't pull it off, how likely are we.
  17. I'm so happy. I've been lucky enough to see all the Giants superbowl wins. My next goal is to go to one.
  18. Quote: So have Trent Dilfer and Stan Humphries. And Eli's better than them also. Quote: For a handful of games. Until the last few games he has been inconsistent. Like I said. The ONES that counted. I mean, the Giants did go 10-6. Quote: I remember a time when people thought Peyton would never win a playoff game much less the superbowl. A few years ago he lost 41-0 to some team Peyton Mannings stats at that point. The point is you said I have no leg to stand on. Your leg is stats. When the colts went 6-10 and Peyton had 26 Td's and 23 Int. you probably would have traded him. The next year when he lost in a playoff game 41-0 surely you would have traded him. I'm basing my opinion off of actually watching Eli.
  19. Quote: Eli hasn't even been a stable QB in his career yet. How many MVP's does he have? How many 25-40 TD's seasons has he had? How many times has he threw for 4,000 yards? Not counting the last game vs New England and these playoffs I guess you're right. As far as the other stuff. MVP's and such. You got me. He's not exactly Steve McNair. Quote: Let's been honest, his been solid at managing the game in the playoffs, but his numbers aren't outstanding. 4 TD's in three playoff games isn't really overpowering. Stop acting like he's played lights out and lighting teams up. Eli has alot more to do before he can being mentioned with Peyton. He's made plays when they counted. That's what he's done. That's what the best quarterbacks do. As far as Peyton. I remember a time when people thought Peyton would never win a playoff game much less the superbowl. A few years ago he lost 41-0 to some team. He may not have the numbers but he's been in as many Superbowl as Peyton has. Quote: They barely got by Detroit, lost to Philly, barely beat Carolina and got thumped by Washington. For some reason it seemed like Dallas thought they had it won after they thumped Green Bay in week 13 and never played well after that. Beat Detroit, beat Philly(same division so they play twice), beat Carolina, and beat Washington(same division). Also, I could argue the Giants weren't playing their best when they played Dallas and Greenbay so what proof is that. The reason NY has a chance tonight is because they played well and beat the three division leaders from the NFC on their way to this chance.
  20. He has had more good games than bad games in the NFL and no one is handing him anything, he's earned his turn in the Superbowl. And since Peyton is so great why don't you check his 4th year TD's and INT's. You would have wrote him off too I'm sure.
  21. Quote: What about brains? He threw 23TD's to 20INT's this year. I guess he got smarter in the playoffs. Smarter than even Tom Brady.
  22. If you've ever seen him in the no huddle just playing with his instincts I think there's a case for that argument.
  23. Giants win this one. I think Eli has more talent than his brother and based on the way the Giants played them in the first game I don't think it's unreasonable for them to win this one. Noone that has played the Patriots close the first time has had a second shot at them. I think the Patriots finally get exposed.
