  1. For a slow dude, anyone else notice Turner was standing a lot further back in the backfield on running plays than he needs to? Dude was like at least 7 yds from scrimmage. And Ryan need to develop that "pump fake move" to be a good quarterback. Against a good safety you can't stare down a receiver all day long. At least spread it around.
  2. That's remarkable isn't it? I find it surprising that the stat is actually pretty accurate. Some times I don't get Bobby Cox; my biggest grips is that he would rest his left handed starters (McCann, Hinske and sometimes Heyward) for a lefty even if that lefty is pretty bad. He doesn't give his starter a chance to get used to left handed pitching. Wonder why the Braves suck versus left hander and record is mediocre against them? Yeah that's probably it. I also don't get the time where he would bring Medlen out of the bullpen even when he's lights out as a starting pitcher... why change his routine up? Also all those unnecessary trades after the all star break are useless..actually made the Braves worse. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
  3. The Hawks have what it takes to compete with the elite, mainly Orlando's the problem since we have a hard time thinking of a strategy to contain Dwight. Now that Woodson's gone and hopefully LD will utilize the bench more, I can see the Hawks have team that's less frustrating to watch. We'll know better once we see a few games from them.
  4. In any case, it's refreshing to see they actually tried to brought someone that they draft from overseas here to play.
  5. I don't get it either. The reason they got sent to minors was to improve but if they can't either hit or pitch in the minors then what's the point of calling them up again? Give someone else a chance. Martinez got a good 4 innings of work and got sent to the minors as a reward.
  6. Well I guess if you put it that way... but explain why Kawaikami and MCclouth has been called up? Martinez looks to be better than Kawa.
  7. I just heard on WSB he's in the lineup tonight. It'll be interesting to see how he swing the bat and if he has any plate discipline. But anyway, don't they have any good outfielders to bring up from the minors? Why they need another catcher? Ross been pretty good backup Mccan.
  8. They probably need a replacement to Ankiel. I'd rather have Gregor Blanco right now. Such a lateral trade that move was.
  9. Why's Gongalez hitting 3rd? He's like the 6th best hitter on the team even w/o Prado. I'd put Heyward or Hinske at 3rd until Prado comes back.
  10. He did---3 years ago when he tried to fire Woody and the owner refuse.
  11. +1 The question now is will they even meet in the second round?
  12. Farnsworth is an upgrade over Chavez but I'm not so sure Ankiel is an upgrade over Blanco. Remember that the Braves were at there best when guys like Blanco, Omare and Escobar was in the lineup because they provide a very tough out---they don't strike out a lot and have a good on base percentage because they walk alot---Braves were one of the best at that. Now you have guys like Gongalez and Diaz who are free swingers--doesn't have a idea of the strike zone-- down in the count alot---basically you have 3 auto outs in the lineup everyday (1 b/c of pitcher) with no discipline at the plate. I guess you have to give some to get some.
  13. Midrange is different from perimeter game. An effective SF has to be able to knock down threes which Josh should never attempt. It's nice to hear he got something in his wheelhouse that he can improve---I think improving the midrange game is pretty important to PF too. Just look at Amare, David West, Boozer, Hasleem, (and even Horford)... they can nail that 15-18footer with consistency making them more potent to the offense. He just got to pick a spot and keep practicing that same spot.
  14. Yunel is lighting it up in the new league hitting .500 and couple of homers. I think he got a wake up call.
  15. That's a bit harsh because they have gotten better by not retaining mr. potato head. Now they just need to find a big that can backup Horford whose name is not Zaza. I just wish ASG didn't sell that 31st pick and get Whiteside.
  16. This team need a big man backup to Horford. As long as Zaza is playing, the Hawks got no chance.
  17. Too bad since I like Escobar. His batting avg is .238 but has a higher on base percentage than A.Gonalez. His K/BB ratio is really good also compare to Gonalez who strike out 66 times and only walk 17 times. Hopefully Omar get the starting job.
  18. The only way Josh leave towns is if CP3 was involved. Either way , it doesn't look like that's going to happen.
  19. Yeah... this upcoming season if going to be fun to watch with all those top draft picks returning. The defense is going to be stout from the beginning.
  20. ^ No I think his first contract was 5 years/70million. He has lived up to that billing imo.
  21. +1 I like his defense, size and rebounding over Chillz. Marvin was 15/6 a few seasons ago... maybe under a new direction in LD he can improve upon those to maybe around 17/7.
  22. It's good that JJ's back but if the ASG haven't sold that 31st pick for cash then I'd voted yes. Now they have to go and find a Whiteside type player that they can be had for cheap.
