  1. Quote: is because when you really examine Horford, once again you see the fingerprints of the hype machine... Horford is not exceptionally big. He's not a strong defender. He's not a great offensive player... He's just the best rebounder we could have gotten. However, you can readily see the potential superstar in Yi. Yi will be an allstar by next year whereas Horford will NEVER be one. BTW, all of you who disbelieve can mark that down.. Horford was a safe pick and wasn't all that good of a pick. He duplicated what we had in Shelden skillset wise... and because you know measurements have never meant anything, you know that Horford was just a bad pick. What happens to Conley slipping past the 11th pick?
  2. Quote: This is not to take a stab at Marvin. Im not fond of him because he doesnt bring much to the table when he is out there but that is besides the point. Like I said Childress is a huge spark and impact off the bench. Im curious if we had from the start of the game we wouldnt we be in the a better position to win the game instead of always being down by the time he comes in? Just some food for thought I wanna see the 5 best players on the floor starting for this team no matter who they are. I don't think that's always happen... we're always down when he came
  3. Without trade, this team will be a disappointment without a playoffs this UPCOMING season. I don't thin anyone will trade Josh Smith but expect to make the playoffs NEXT season.
  4. Quote: Wow, so many people saying we're stacked at the 3, and actually we only really have 1 pure 3. That's the ignorant fans talking; people with some sense actually said we're stacked at the forwards spot.
  5. Quote: I dont get why he loves conley so much. I was happy to here that the reason he wasnt drafted is because he couldnt shoot. If conley turns into another chris paul then I guess we messed up again, but we got us a pg at 11 anyways. Chris Paul is not a lights out shooter either. In fact, he's a pretty bad shooter. 42%FG and 28% 3PT in his first year in the NBA.
  6. Everywhere I read, all have been praising the Hawks' draft.
  7. Quote: I'm by no means saying we do have a pg even close to CHauncey, but some people tend to think thats who Acie Law games resembles. http://www.nbadraft.net/admincp/profiles/acielaw.html Chauncy Billups wasn't Chauncy Billups until Larry Brown got there.. which is like 3 or 4 years into his career so to compare a rookie to him is, in a way, a good complement.
  8. Quote: Sign me up for that deal Diesel. In saying that, I'm assuming that Marvin Williams makes a steady, yet unspectacular improvement this year. If we got both Horford and Yi in this draft would everyone be satisfied? LOL way to cop out there.
  9. Quote: Forget Fratello, Doc Rivers is our man. He will be axed by Boston after next season and the timing will be perfect for us to axe Woodson and pick up Rivers. lol no thanks.
  10. Im curious to see Zaza standing reach. It'll probably be like 8"2
  11. Quote: Quote: Horford is 6'8 wo shoes. Actually 6'8.75", if you are going to use his height WITHOUT shoes, then estimate to the right one. Quote: Zaza is not that short...he is a true 6'11. Really? Where are his measurements? And I assume you are using Zaza's height WITH shoes. It's funny how people skew arguments to their advantage. Agreed. If you want people (who are not clueless anyways) to buy in to what you're saying, then at least be fair. Horford = 6'10 Zaza= 6'11
  12. Zaza is like 1" taller than Horford... That really don't matter as much since Horford probably has a higher standing reach and a much higher vert.
  13. I thought Eekafor is the center? If they don't resign wallace though, that team isn't that much better.
  14. Don't give up hope yet... there's still the 11th pick. or possibly a big time trade after draft day.
  15. I don't agree with the pick but in all fairness, Horford is 6'10".
  16. May won another ROY BK better get Calderon or somebody or else!
  17. I'll give you post presence but I'd rather have the PG scoring in an indirect way, ie: distributing the ball and getting assists, than scoring like a SG.
  18. Woodson doesn't like to start rookies. So if Speedy/Lue/AJ are healthy they will start over them.
  19. When was this stuff announced? Because I think you're a tad late.
  20. Quote: Quote: The main enticing thing to me about Amare was that the price seemed so reasonable. That should have been your first clue that it was bogus. Suns get shafted and the Hawks make out like bandits. As a Suns fan, I'm not averse to trading Amare if it will improve our team. Trading Amare for Garnett makes us slightly better in the short term but kills us long term. Amare is a 24 year old 1st team All NBA player. KG has 2-3 years left in him at a superstar level. The Suns needed to be compensated for that age gap. Now, if the Hawks shipped Marvin Williams and maybe Childress our way, then it would be more of an even trade. But Amare for ONLY the 3,11 and filler? Not nearly enough for a 24 yr old 1st team All-NBA big man. I admit I was scared about the deal being true since it was being reported by so many different sources. I couldn't believer Kerr would be that stupid. Glad it's all over. You guys are killed long term whether you like it or not. Nash is not going to dominate for much longer.
  21. The hawks interior D has improved after picking Shelden (ppg went from 102 to about 97ppg). With 1 yr under his belt and getting more minutes at Center, I think the interior D will continue to improve. If the Hawks didn't draft Shelden I'm all for Horford but they got to get Conley JR. Jay Bilas and many others have said Conley is the 3rd best prospect in the draft. What about the 11th pick? They should trade for Camby or trade for next years' first or get a backup SG to JJ.
