  1. He's been on four teams in three years. That says all you need to know. No.
  2. No. The Hawks wasted time and money by putting on this Dog and Pony show of interviewing other coaches, just to go with the existing Assistant Coach who just happens to be the cheapest option available. Would you really spend several days at a car dealership looking and test driving the best and most expensive cars, then going with the cheapest model that was the only car you could afford the whole time? Thats what the Hawks just did.
  3. So we're going with Woodson 2.0? This is a TERRIBLE decision by the Atlanta Spirit!
  4. What we're seeing this summer is a fairly unique situation, the Orlando situation years back isn't quite an equal comparison. We have four of the top 16 players in the league meeting together to basically decide the fate of the NBA over the next couple of years. Some combination of those hired guns will become a threat to the current Lakers-Celtics-Magic triumvirate that has ruled the league the past couple of years.
  5. Joe Johnson is gone. Go ahead and make your peace with it. Now the question becomes: what will be the package that the Hawks can get from Miami, Chicago, Clevland, or New York? Beasley? Chambers? Deng? Hinrich? Hickson? Lee? Gallinari?
  6. Deal. We'll take Haywood, then resign Chills, if any money is left over then grab Anthony Morrow. We'll have great depth and solve one of our biggest weaknesses. Pg: Teague, Bibby Sg: Chills, Crawford (retaining 6th man role) Sf: Marvin, Evans (if he stays), Chills Pf: Josh Smith, Al Horford C: Horford,Haywood, Zaza Then add our 1st-round pick, and maybe grab Anthony Morrow if Evans opts out. In any event, we'd be a tough matchup as long as one of Horford/Smith/Marvin stepped up to score 18+ a game.
  7. I would take that team's chances against Orlando in a heartbeat. Especially when you consider our crunch-time lineup would be: Crawford JJ Chills Bosh Horford Bosh and Horford can post up, JJ and Crawford knock down jumpers when the doubles go to the post, Chills is cleaning up the offensive glass.
  8. I liked this from ESPN: "A question: Would you rather have a center averaging 15.6 points and 9.9 rebounds, shooting 56 percent from the field and 74 percent from the line? Or would you take his counterpart, a guy with a flashier nickname but with averages of just 9.8 points, 9.3 rebounds and 5.5 fouls, not to mention his 48 percent field goal percentage and his 38 percent success rate from the line? If you chose the former over the latter, you just selected Al Horford over Dwight Howard. "
  9. I'm hoping we find a better replacement for Evans. Of course Evans would get less minutes if Marvin Williams was more consistent, but what's new.
  10. Jamal Crawford went 4-18 in Game 5, and it shooting 22% for the series! He is also getting absolutely abused on defense, and contributes NOTHING to the team when he isnt scoring. Oh, and did I mention that he has committed more turnovers than assists in this series, 13 TO's to 12 assists? The bottom line is that he is costing us the series! If he is our main scorer next year if(when) JJ leaves, then we are in trouble. Now I see why teams have been so eager to get rid of him.
  11. Nique is sick of Iso-Joe and Woody running his starters to death, just like every other fan with common sense. He knows that the Hawks could be better than what they currently are. It is no wonder to me that we lose 4th-quarter leads. Horford, Smoove, and JJ are locks to play 35-40 a night, and Crawford plays almost the entire second half as well. By the fourth quarter, they are spent.
  12. Smitty. Better scorer, better jumper, more athletic.
  13. Mookie Blaylock is the best Hawks pg I've seen.
  14. He is a shooter and scorer, plain and simple. He gives us depth in case JJ walks next year, or we lose Crawford the next year. We could easily get away with JJ at 3 and Morrow at the 2. Think about all the wide open 3's Morrow would have playing off JJ and Crawford. And his salary is dirt cheap. I would trade them anyone not named JJ, Smoove, Horford, or Crawford for Morrow in an instant. With Morrow in the fold, games like the last Heat game won't happen. Its obvious that our offense depends on JJ or Crawford to go off. Morrow would change that dynamic.
  15. Who is going to play backup small forward, Othello Hunter? Please.
  16. Mike Bibby is DONE. He has been looking terrible, slow, and unathletic. His shot has left him. He played only 9 minutes! Suddenly his new three-year deal is two years too long.
  17. I'm not surprised at all. Zaza's minutes have been shrinking as the weeks go by, and Joe Smith gets DNP all the time. Thanks Woody.
  18. Props to Collins as well. He got under Shaq's skin, for that Jason is my hero.
  19. Bring him back for less than max. He isn't worth the max. I don't see him getting much better than he is..the question will be how long can he sustain his current production?
  20. We are proving to be pretenders. Right now I dont see how we beat Orlando or Cleveland in a 7-game series. It wouldn't go seven games. Yes we beat Boston, but that was before Boston started playing good. The other reason I feel like we're pretenders is because against good teams we have just been getting BLASTED lately. Orlando, Denver, Cavs...all ugly games. People on here saying that "oh, the Hawks beat themselves, Cavs didnt do anything", are you kidding? The Cavs had everything to do with us settling for jump shots, or getting under the skin of Woodson and Smoove (West punked the Hawks with that dunk), to putting us on the line where we couldn't convert free throws. Their defense is better, they are more consistent emotionally, and they can exploit Crawford/Bibby all night long while Teague will not get a chance to use his quicks. I think to become a contender we're going to need: a second scorer off the bench, more consistent play from Smoove, and a better half-court offense...more passing, less iso-Joe, less iso-everyone. We know this team has too much of holding onto the ball because they are afraid if they pass it they wont get it back. That's why we had that bad stretch where everyone kept going iso. Also, to become a contender we might need to move Marvin or Bibby for a better replacement. Marvin scored good for us last night, but that doesn't happen enough. I want to see Marvin use his skills to actually contribute in rebounds, assists, steals, blocks...something. Though that's probably hoping for too much. As for Bibby, he is looking more and more cooked as the season goes on. If his shot isnt falling, he does nothing for us. Well, except we don't have to worry about him going iso.
  21. Josh Smith really let me down tonight. His temper and tears are keeping him on the bench with foul trouble. And he still takes plays off. His free throw shooting was embarrassing tonight. He says he's grown up, I would say only in shot selection and not with crying. Mike Bibby looked horrible tonight. Anyone else thinking that 3-year contract might be one year too many? The Cavs bench exposed our bench as a one-trick pony. Evans cant do anything on offense unless he is wide open. Zaza is only good for tipins or transition buckets. Teague I think could be a wild card but he can't get off the bench. If we're truly going to get past the 2nd round, we need a 2nd scorer off the bench. Otherwise we're running a 6-man rotation, which we all know is Woodson's favorite.
  22. Marvin and the Landlord are the biggest reasons why we fired Knight and why Knight doesnt have a job. Those were both HUGE whiffs. I think if we take Paul or Roy, we make the playoffs in 2007. Knightmare also apparently whiffed pretty bad on Acie Law. And no offense to Horford at all but Paul >>>>> Horford. We're talking about one of the best point guards this decade. So no, I dont think it was an even trade on missing Paul to get Horford.
  23. I say pass on him this year. We don't have a lot of minutes for him unless we trade Marvin. But if JJ leaves, or if we want to look at flipping Marvin for something, then I am all for bringing in McGrady.
  24. I'm disappointed in Marvin this year. His game doesn't seem to have improved like in the previous year. Of course we blew it by not taking Paul, Derron, Bynum or Granger. Yet, Woody still believe in him and gives him a pass because of his youth. Does Woody know or see something that we dont? Now that Woody has been playing the bench, my hate for him is starting to thaw, and I'm wondering if maybe he actually is a good coach. So if Woody is a good coach, I'll have some faith in his opinion of Marvin.
  25. If Chills were here, we'd definately be better. Chills would give us a ton of options. Right now when Crawford comes in for JJ we lose a post-up sg and of course we lose at defense. Chills fills that role. And he can also help this team when he isn't scoring, unlike Crawford. Plus I think Chills could easily replace Evans..we all know Chills was good at making wide-open 3's..he'd be getting plenty of those playing off Crawford, just like Evans does. Our bench would become STACKED. Chills would be arguably the most athletic player on the 2nd team. Bring him back, let Evans walk.
