  1. The Hawks have become the definition of insanity: doing the same thing over and over but expecting different results. This is going to be essentially the same team with essentially the same coaching stuff. I don't expect anything more than a second-round beat down for the third year in a row.
  2. He would have signed here because we offered him the most money.
  3. His sour demeanor on the court apparently translates off the court.
  4. I had to change it at the bottom of my iPad, but now I can definitely see the difference.
  5. Yeah, I guess the entire rest of the NBA world is ignorant too.
  6. Joe Johnson signed a bigger contract than anyone, and it doesn't appear to be closer than 20 million or so. We overpaid far too early instead of letting the market develop. And now we'll pay for it for years as the Bulls, Heat, and Magic rule the East for the next couple years to come. JJ's deal will be the last "real bad" contract of all time after the new labor agreement.
  7. Please no. He can't shoot, he's slow, unathletic, no ups, old, overpaid. Why would we want him?
  8. The Bulls wouldn't have given him 120 million, so Hollinger wouldn't have reacted the way he did. Hollinger is right, the Hawks will regret this trade. JJ's game will be in decline in 2/3 years but we'll be stuck overpaying him for far longer.
  9. Who knows what we can afford after JJ's whale of a contract. Most likely, we won't have a shot at most of the guys in this thread because the Bulls/Nets/Heat/Knicks will all overpay once the mega-players sign. Our best bet is a Flip Murray-esque signing.
  10. A JJ-Horford/Smith-LeBron triumvirate would be title-worthy. Too bad we haven't heard anything about LeBron coming to Atlanta.
  11. Wait, you forgot some. 6 more years of... -two-inch vertical. -calling out the fans who pay his salary. -being the richest and least-liked athlete in Atlanta. -being the slowest player in the Hawks starting five (once Teague is starting). -being a supposed "star" but having no nickname (Smitty's "The Machine" hasnt stuck). -dribble, dribble, dribble, dribble, dribble, dribble, dribble, dribble, dribble, dribble, dribble, dribble, dribble, dribble, dribble, etc etc.
  12. Shaq will be playing for only one thing here: money. He's got to know that he wouldn't have a shot for a title. My worry is that Shaq would be completely disinterested if he came here to play 15 minutes. We need to get someone better than a 38 y/o way past his prime.
  13. I am surprised that JJ is really 50-50 on the Hawks offer. That speaks volumes to me that he really doesn't want to come back here, but he is willing to do it for money(of course). JJ not taking the deal would be the best thing to happen to the Hawks, and that is what I am hoping for.
  14. The 27th pick becoming as good as one of the top 5 players in the league? Not a chance.
  15. I don't know if I buy that. Usually when teams are trying to sell, they shed payroll, not increase it.
  16. He is getting max because he finished third team all-NBA. The truth, though, is that on a lot of nights JJ isn't better than the third player on the Hawks .
  17. He's past his prime and has too many miles on his tires. Plus we don't need no stinkin' actress in this team.
  18. I would have liked to, but with drafting of Crawford 2.0 I really don't think it will happen.
  19. So who do we want from the Knicks? Are #1 picks any worth from them considering how far out they might be? I don't want Lee because we have Smoove, but maybe Lee could be flipped to a third team and we could get help at a position of need.
  20. We drew less people at the gate in spite of our improved record. They were practically begging people to go to the playoff games.
  21. Neither Crawford should start. It should be either Chills or Salmons. We keep Crawford as our edge off the bench.
  22. I will not shed any tears if JJ leaves because of one main reason: He's BORING!!! One thing that needs to be taken consideration is that the Hawks need to make more money, which implies that the Hawks need to draw better at the gate. JJ is not a draw. He's quiet, methodical, and now he's also disliked after what he said. Is spending max on JJ the best way to invest all that money? It's not like people are trying to rename Fulton county in JJ county, or making pleasdontleaveJJ.com . I think our team would be better on the court and at the gate by bringing back Chills, getting a quality player from trading JJ, then taking that ten-man team and running the opposition off the court.
  23. Getting Paul would be a dream, but we'd also have Okafor along in the deal. You think the Spirit could afford that AND resign JJ? Not gonna happen.
