I have to disagree that Thabo and deng our on the decline. They were both hit with some serious injuries this past season and probably should have not been playing. Anyways it's easy for these 2 to regain their 3ball...that I'm not worried about at all. I think the challenge or let's say decline comes in at the defense side. Both were once elite defenders and honestly those days for both are gone but I do believe...actually I gurantee that both still have the ability to play good defense that can be great defense if they have a good team defense surrounding them! Thabo especially! Add deng, Thabo, to what we already have in DMC and we just became a way better defense especially on the perimeter.

I don't believe they have offered him anything yet but I have read that if a team really wants Monroe they will have to pay atleast 14.5 to make it hard for the pistons to match the deal. But is Monroe worth 14.5? Again I say yes unless we get a wing man that can provide inside scoring.

My spidy senses are telling that ferry is going to give Monroe an offer that the pistons will not match! Come on man we are arguing about a 3rd string center that got put in a situation to be a full time center. How can we really be that mad as hawks fans? Nobody is takin up for Pero but you can't expect starter quality production from a 3rd string center even if given the minutes!

Ok blind man....Pero was signed to be a Matt bonner type player not full time backup for al horford. Brand was signed to receive full backup minutes at center but because horford got hurt Pero got threw in to the wolves and here you are mad that a 3rd string center didn't play well in the playoffs who had no choice but to start and you say I don't make sense?!!!! Look in mirror kid!....Neva mind forgot you were blind but yet have wide open eyes to ignorance.

Let's be honest Pero really wasn't brought in to play starter minutes last year, it just happened to happen due to injuries. Let's be honest he didn't do that bad at the 3ball last year, after all he was on the team to be a 3rd string center like you said. Let's be honest he really can improve...not to anything major but it's very possible for him to shoot the 3ball better next season. Let's be honest why does his defense have to be superb? How many scoring centers you know are actual scoring threats in the post?....let's be honest it's only 5-7 in the nba today...let's be honest centers are used to protect the rim against slashers more so than against other true centers...let's be honest who worries about a 3rd string center having top notch defense?

True there wasn't a lot of post scoring from big men. Most inside shots came from slashing to the goal via Kwahi Leonard Correct in today's nba...it does not have to be a center.

After going back and forth with this..."we need to get horford to the powerforward position" I think I overreacted big time (usually I'm all for horford staying a center). Horford is a BIG man tweener like Duncan that can play both PF & C. If we look at our roster. We have 3 guys that can play minutes at center Horford, Pero, Payne. Soooo....What we need is a big who can come in and provide minutes or start at the center position when horford is out matched size wise. We already have a 3pt shooting big in Pero who has size now we just need to add another big body talent like a Jordan Hill and our Big man rotation should be above average. I think Jordan hill or another quality backup big man is more important as well as getting a good wing defender like deng.

I think the worry comes in more at defense for horford when guarding bigger centers for most.

Makes sense but a franchise player is a star player...how long is ferry going to sell this idea of getting a star talent? Don't get me wrong I want him to try his best to get top tier talent but at the same time don't miss out on establishing a good overall team. I want to believe a star is going to come to Atlanta but I just don't see it unless it is a trade for franchise/star player. Ferry can't keep chasing star player every free agency and miss out on orher good talent.

Yeah that's my worry too. I like milsap a lot but with the Payne being drafted and because horford is our best player it's kind of important to make him happy....even if he can hold his own at the center position.

An Gundy knows that..I'm thinking he might just try to work it out with all 3 and pray they can play together but I'm not sure if he can do that if they have other needs to fill out their roster....I don't know their cap situation. However if they do have a cap situation which I'm sure they do if they resign Monroe, then I hope ferry offers Monroe a contract that Detroit wouldn't dare to match because of other positions they need to fill. Suddenly I'm gaining my confidence back for a possibility of Monroe coming.

I just don't think he's bluffing man...quality big men are hard to find and smith isn't worth his contract or a starter at this point.
