  1. I came across an interesting post from someone on ajc: "PeachtreeBart (5 hours ago) Why is Atlanta so often not considered a big market city, even by local writers? It's the 9th biggest TV market in the country out of 30 other cities in the NFL and 28 other cities in the NBA. Houston and Miami are big market but Atlanta is not? (The populations of the #5 - #10 metro areas are very similar in size). Call it like it is: the fan base, with its tepid enthusiasm for the Hawks, may not seem big market, but the actual metropolis is. - See more at: http://jeffschultz.blog.ajc.com/2014/06/24/lebron-carmelo-opt-out-hawks-an-option/#sthash.Sr5zTdD2.dpuf" Assuming he's on point with what he/she wrote how is Atlanta not a large market city in the nba? I know we discussed this time and time again but I really don't understand how Atlanta isn't considered large or close to large market. Even San Antonio is considered a small market and when you look up the San Antonio area you will find out that its a city that is 3rd largest in Texas with very close numbers in population as other bigger name cities in Texas....how exactly are they a small market?
  2. I give ferry props for trying...(not being sarcastic) but this has no chance of happening.
  3. Co sign...because if they want to have a quality team around them, they can't accept 20mil offers each and actually team up. If I was them I would go ahead and take 15m each, get an outstanding TEAM around the both of us and rule the nba for 4-7 years. These guys have plenty left in the tank to be a dominant force they just need to be reasonable about taking a paycut.
  4. To add to that Lebrons ability to be a point forward is like having a diaw since bron can play both SF and PF...he will fit right into coach buds system. Melo would have to get a lot better and use his brain. He will need to learn to keep the ball moving and to keep moving without the ball at all times....I assume melo would be used as the ginobli type but will have the ability to post up when needed. If this were to happen which it won't....believe me ferry and bud will figure out how to use them.
  5. See that's that bullsh*t I be talking about with these superstars. You aren't going to make all the money and have an overall dominating team! You would think lebron has learned this after the spurs spanked his teams ass in really all 5 games. If melo and lebron really want to leave their mark on the nba for everybody to remember they will both take 16m contracts from whatever franchise and only eat up 32m of the cap! Then gms can go out and put very good quality role players around them with the extra cap. Eating up all the cap space for 2 stars is just dumb! If you really want to win and make your mark on the league you have to take a paycut in today's nba.
  6. I hate to bust bubbles but I think it's obvious that melo and lebron are going to go to the same team and be a big two with good role players around them and leave wade, bosh, and the Knicks in the dirt.
  7. Reaching huh?...maybe so...you are right Parker is more of a point guard than Teague no arguing there but there's still a huge difference between Parker vs guys like cp3, Nash, Stockton (true point guards) no doubt about it. How I view true point guards vs tony Parker: True point guards main natural instincts is to pass first. There's no arguing there! Cp3, Nash, Stockton every time down the court they are looking to set up their team and pass the ball before doing anything else. Tony Parker is a lot different. Parker's main instinct is to take what the defense gives him. That's not to say cp3, Nash, Stockton, or other true point guards forced the pass, I'm just saying that there's a reason tony Parker usually avg. around 6/7 assist vs these true point guards that avg 10-13 assist per game. The spurs system allows Parker to be a true pint guard and a shoot first point guard and Parker knows how to handle the responsibility when it comes to taking that good open shot or passing to the open man or coming off a screen for back door passes or an off the screen mid range jumper, etc....while those guys are busy fancy passing Parker is doing it all on the court. Now we don't know what Dennis is but I rather he not be under the label true point guard if he's going to stay a hawk.

  9. I'm not saying Dennis isn't going to be good. My question is, is he better than Teague in coach buds system? And to me the answer is no. Is he a more traditional pg than Teague? Yes but I don't think a traditional pg is what coach bud need in his system. In all honesty those who watch the spurs should notice that there is no ball dominant player in the spurs system. Sometimes Parker runs point, sometimes ginobli runs point, sometimes it's diaw, and next year I bet coach pop will start allowing kwahi to run point. If bud is going to run the spurs system here he needs more talent other than His point guards that can run the pick and roll or handle the ball to dribble drive kick out or whatever the hell he's going to do. I think too many on hawksquawk feel that we are going to run a jerry Sloan or mike dantoni like system that requires a pg to dominate the ball and get the offense involved every possession but that's not what this spurs offense is....spurs truly use their sg ginobli and their point forward diaw as playmakers not just one man....Teague can pass the test as one of our playmakers but we need 2 more.
  10. @Diesel your on fire tonight! Spread that spurs like TEAM thinking! LOL…. The hawks are turning into a franchise thats all about the TEAM like the spurs not individual superstars like what OKC has. I don't see OKC winning anything until they pick which alpha they want to keep, in other words either bring in a pg or trade westbrook for about 3 average to good team players that fit around durant.
  11. Seriously am I the only one who has ever thought about this when it came to Dennis? @Diesel thats a good point and I wonder how those who love/like dennis @ @GameTime @Dolfan23 @JayBirdHawk and whoever else feels about this. I mean I like Dennis too but when I think of coach buds spurs like coaching style I don't think of traditional John Stockton point guard of need for coach buds offense to be at its best. I get the PG need to be able to pass well but I don't think he needs to be able to pass like a CP3, Stockton, Nash type to get us to an nba championship…I don't even think tony parker passes as well as those 3 guys but he does know how to win championships something those 3 don't know how to do. With that said to @Diesel point Teague does do what Bud ask of him (at least at the end of the season and in the playoffs) and Dennis may be too traditional to run Coach Buds offensive system. What do you guys think? Should Dennis just be traded?
  12. I can't disagree with what your saying but the league has changed. Guys like horford can play center in today's nba....it is what it is. Hopefully he realizes that he actually has an advantage over most centers in the NBA with being able to shoot the mid range at an high level. Anyways if horford truly wants out I can understand trading him now BUT I don't think horford wants out if the team can somehow get to the ECF.
  13. You crazy as hell! Don't sleep on the youngest MVP in nba history during those times. Sure rosé can't do that anymore because of injury but when he was fully healthy mebrook was never on his level.
  14. Horford need to realize that him playing center is actually a good thing when healthy. Healthy horford is a beast at center with sap playing pf. If we had an actual chance at the ECF this year I'm sure horford will continue playing center. I get that he could have once complained about not being big enough to play center a couple of years ago but that's not true today. Horford can play center against 90% of the nba. Ferry need to just sign a big like bebe to bring in for those bigger centers.
  15. If you are telling the truth sir.....thats cool as hell!
  16. One of the main reasons I like our big man tandem of horford and milsap is because of their BBIQ! I know these two guys can work together and accomplish a lot. We saw how well smith and horford worked with each other.....I truly believe sap and horford will be way better combination.
  17. Yeah this is what I'm thinking too. Regardless of what the salary cap may be, Lou should be traded to free up cap space for player or players who actually fit the system. It would be awesome to see lebron or melo in Atlanta but I know it's not likely. Maybe if lebron just considers us publicly it will do some good for the hawks franchise for other possible stars in the future.
  18. He just need to stay healthy and get an opportunity to play. I can easily see him as our Danny green type player. His shooting ability is above average.
  19. If this were to ever happen I think it's smarter to start DMC over Korver and let Korver come off the bench. We don't need more offense in a lineup that has Teague, lebron, sap, horford...we would need a defender and DMC fits that need plus he's a way better 3pt shooter now and probably will improve more over this off season. If I'm coach bud I would put DMC on the opponents best perimeter offense player that way lebron will have more energy throughout the game. DMC is a very underrated defender add lebron and he's a shut down defender in the eyes of a general nba fan. Plus on rebounding...since it is a team effort! DMC, Lebron, Sap, Horford would grab plenty of rebounds. All 4 play with a high energy and put a lot of efforts on the boards. Korver puts a lot of effort in trying to rebound too...just good all around effort solves rebounding woes.
  20. Dam....I saw superstar potential in this guy too...oh well, he may return and be fine, he may not. Should we gamble if he drops to 10th pick? I don't know with all these injuries.
  21. Lol I don't think any one is.....we have a better chance making the ECF than James or any star coming here.
  22. I like threads like this because we all agree that it's a no brainier that this is the best team for Lebrons skill set all while knowing its a pipe dream! Lol but that's cool atleast we all can agree on something for once.
  23. In falcon jerseys....let's not turn this into a nfl vs nba thing cause the nfl ain't all about the large market dominating the smaller markets. In other words the falcons can easily get stars and they have star players on the team and up and coming star players. Most notably Matt Ryan, Julio jones, roddy white (still considered a star), Desmond trufant up and coming star corner and jake Matthews could be star tackle as well as the other rookie hageman. I love how the nfl is so competitive throughout the whole league unlike the nba. Arthur blank and company will never have reason not to have star talent on the team. The nba is so shitty with all this stars don't want to play with smaller market teams bs. I hate it.
  24. Yeah I agree and not because I'm a hawks fan but we just happen to be the best team that fits his specific skill set that could afford him. He's being rumored to the following: Bulls- not enough team offense for him to win a title unless rosé comes back and that's too risky. Clippers- not enough team defense for lebron and the west is very challenging. Cavs- I just can't see lebron relying on kyrie who has never played a playoff game and a potential superstar rookie even if he is the first draft pick to win a championship with. Plus Gilbert really said some harsh shit to the guy after "the decision". Heat- very possible for a return but I think wade is going to screw the heat and take a very small paycut. Also I think bosh is going to opt in because he doesn't have the endorsements like lebron and wade. Heat just aren't going to get enough actual cap space to really improve on my opinion. They need wade and bosh to take 13m deals at the most and that may be pushing it to those two guys. Long post as usual but just my two cents.
  25. Nbasupe made a post just last week and I agreed strongly. If we couldn't surround lebron with players like horford, sap, Teague I wouldn't even entertain this or feel that lebron should have the hawks on his short list but damn the dude fits well with horford and sap!...add Teague as a lighting quick attacking point guard and this team is deep as hell. But it's a dream topic no arguing there but the same time the dream makes sense for lebron. Can you imagine lebron in a spurs like system!....damn! And I can't stand lebron but would love if he's a hawk. CAUTION: no need to keep this dream alive too long. Even though lebron is a good fit here that doesn't seem to mean anything in the stars of the nba today.
