  1. This is where I'm leaning but many would say "oh you want us to stay mediocre!" When in reality (to me anyways) I think under coach buds system if horford, sap, Teague can work together as well as the other pieces we add/have....we are a consistent 50 win team and that's a great improvement!
  2. This is how I feel. The hawks are a spurs like big man rotation and defensive wing creator away from 50 wins per year. You can take care of both needs this off season.
  3. The one thing I can say about Jenkins is that as fan I wouldn't worry about his shot or ability to shoot cause he can do it no prob and he will adjust to the nba as he continues his career. But because he was injured this year without a chance to really play in coach buds system it will take him some time. Where I'm getting at is that at Vanderbilt and believe me I watched this guy closely....he never really played off ball. They set screens for him and he wouldn't drive the ball he would just run behind the screen and pull up (has a quick jumper) and that's how he led the sec in scoring 3 years! Jenkins biggest adjustment under bud will be playing off ball! He's pretty damn good at pulling up for the three off his own dribble but I'm not sure how well he's going to do this catch and shoot thing but I don't doubt that he can't do it either. (Just more of my input on Jenkins, I feel like a reliable source since I did actually watch him play college ball)
  4. Ray Allen doesn't have that size advantage, not to compare Jenkins to Allen but it's possible to be a deadly 3pt threat without the size advantage. I rather Jenkins mold to try to be danny green type player. I watched Jenkins closely at Vanderbilt and he could handle the ball well while in college and was never a driver always a shooter. I do think he can handle the ball probably at best the same level as a Danny green. He's not a slasher but if the team sets him up the guy can shoot lights out and if he can do that off the bench then that's all we need. He's never gave anything defensively so that's not a surprise his defense is bad. Jenkins will be ok under coach bud no question about it, we just need him to stay healthy.
  5. Good write up. I strongly agree.
  6. Lol oh I know. I think bebe was sent back overseas to get better skill wise more than to gain weight! The nba game has changed today, you can have a smaller center in weight and as long as they are tall and they can still somehow be effective. I'm excited to see what bebe can do! From videos I have seen the kid can run the floor fast for a 7 footer and the hawks like to push the ball! Then on top if they he's just so long that his length can bother Hibbert probably! It's not like Hibbert backs you down and dunk on you, instead he backs down and tries to shoot that jump hook and a lot of players can't contest it with Hibbert being 7'3 but bebe with his length could probably contest it well and mauve even get a hand on it.
  7. Lol I get that but even if he does get to Noah size of 230 or 235...I doubt he looks any different than what he does now. My point is, is that I don't think size affects the way bebe plays but hey I can be wrong since I don't know squat about the guy really.
  8. @Dolfan23 it would be great if he can be the next Noah! But I noticed that so many are concerned about his weight at 220 but speaking of the comparison to Noah...isn't Noah only 10 pounds heavier than bebe at 230? If so why are people so concerned about bebes weight? I'm sure he can put on 10 pounds easily.
  9. Exactly...but I must say if these bigger centers Hibbert, Perkins, etc. were making these smaller guys like sap, Lewis, bosh, etc pay on offensive end than I probably wouldn't have said what I said but since that's not the case like I said we need a rotation that can do it all instead of paying big bucks to one guy who's known just to protect the rim but gets abused when the floor is spread. Also I agree with the Noah comment! But he's like the only one that can defend the perimeter big well and be an anchor in the post. Gotta give the defensive player of the year props but he's the only one of his kind in the nba. When the hawks get to him and if we had a big man rotation like the spurs that can do it all, our best bet is to just ware out Noah by having him run to defend the perimeter and use horford/sap to pound him in the paint......it's all about taking Noah's energy away.
  10. Here's the thing about this rim protector issue! 1.Spurs took ibaka completely out the game when they started Matt bonner! That's the important part of all this rim protector nonsense. Ibaka had to worry about the perimeter shot, so brooks try to put him at center to keep him around the goal and spurs decide to go one on one against him knowing they have no help defense because shooters are on the floor and the hall of famer destroys him! 2.Look at Miami...Hibbert is taken completely out the game with Lewis and bosh spreading the floor for lebron, wade, cole to attack the rim avd finish because Hibbert is too slow to recover back to the rim or they kick out cause Hibbert is too slow to close out. THIS RIM PROTECTOR STUFF IS BULLSH*T PEOPLE!!!! Hibbert and ibaka are the best two shot blockers/rim protectors in the conference finals and they are at home getting ready to watch the finals like us! WHAT THE HAWKS TRULY NEED: What the hawks need is what the spurs have and I don't mean the old hall of famer Duncan...I mean they have a big man rotation for every need! If they want to spread the floor they can bring in bonner or diaw. If they want a rim protector they got splitter and Duncan (and the other young kid). Hawks need a complete big man rotation that has guys with a special skill set cause you can't get it all in one player these days, so you need a big man rotation you can turn to like the spurs have. That's key to getting further in the playoffs! Starts with the big man rotation ends with the big man rotation.
  11. A felon! Man that's pretty harsh! I rather we just end it right here.
  12. There's nothing to buy into! If ferry does show interest believe me it will be shocking to most on this board. I see things a bit different and I wonder if ferry should take a risk on lance but time will tell.
  13. This isn't surprising! Everybody think bud:ferry sign these players just to trade them. I really believe they like the players we have but their just open to options.
  14. Nobody can really figure out ferry. Some of us think too little, some of us think too big. At the end I say ferry is going to mock the spurs best he can if they were in a position like the hawks. Basically a "what would the spurs do if they were trying to build that champ team?" is in the works with ferry and bud. We can't blame them cause that's all they know is the spurs way. They want to resemble the spurs as much as possible. (Horford has to be the best impersonation of Duncan as he can (of course he won't get to that level but he can try). DMC will need to do his best impression of Bruce Bowen. Teague will need to pick up Parker like instincts best he can. Sap is our diaw like player. Korver is our Danny Green. Its hard to figure out what moves ferry will do but it's not hard to tell what he or bud wants is my point and what he wants is a spurs like hawks team at the end of the day.
  15. Bingo!....this will probably make many of you mad but I honestly think ferry would stay at 15 if he was guranteed saric at that pick versus a guarantee trade to get a top 3 pick! Lol
  16. Agreed. I don't think horfords injury is that big of a deal. I am close to 2 personal trainers in my area and they both have says a freak injury like horfords come from either lifting wrong or lifting too much. Horford just need to stick with the push-ups and develop his post game! You don't have to be extremely strong to have a good post game, look at pau gasol. Last I think it's interesting how he knows about the kings rumor. Usually gms don't know about these rumors we read or they just blow off the rumors all together.
  17. Hawes isn't overrated or underrated. He's a 3 point shooting 7 footer that can get you about 8 boards a game. He's nothing more than that and I'm sure I like him the most on this board. Hawes is what he is....for what he does I think he's worth 7-8m and maybe 9m cause he will make bigs that are shot blockers idle when he's in the lineup. Not sure why you think lance is overrated...but he's an elite defender in my book and probably just a really good defender to most people with decent offense and an attitude problem, a really bad attitude problem! But skill wise he's not overrated.
  18. My thoughts as well! The guy quoted his own work as the source!!!! I call BS on all of this! Simmons is a joke.
  19. Doesn't matter as long as he gets starter minutes like ginobli. I don't worry about who's starting and whose not. Bud will put the best lineup on the floor depending on the situation.
  20. On this Journey of TRYING to mock the identity of the all time great spurs franchise best the hawks can.....I think we can all agree that the bench should be a huge focus! The spurs bench is a huge reason this small market franchise have found a way to win 4 championships since 98-99 and appear in 6 including this year. Personally one thing I always loved about the spurs bench is that they can drop a shit load of points! Which I think is more important than anything when it comes to a nba bench. So what moves do you think ferry and bud should make to get the hawks bench to become one of the strongest in the league?
  21. Sorry I don't mean to be an ass but I don't understand why some of you put wall in 1-8!...that guy has so many flaws in his game it's insane....wall is barely a top 10 pg in my opinion
  22. Well we have to remember that bud didn't get a whole year with horford yet....
  23. Hey maybe horford can do it!.......Remember this? http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=H3Zy5NPRpHE Horford went right at the leagues best shot blocker that year!....in the clutch!
  24. Yeah man that front line is key....I'm all for keeping the cheaper 3pt threat Antić over hawes, but I would like a post scorer presence either from someone the hawks pick up or horford simply getting better. Also lineup changes are important and it should always be about winning,if we need sap coming off the bench then bud should have him off the bench! I want the hawks to suck in as much spurs mentality as they can cause that team is unselfish and they just do and accept whatever to win.
  25. I'm kidding!!!! No one stole our blue print I just wanted to catch your attention hawksquawk! Anyone pay attention to how both the heat and spurs beat their conference final opponent?...well let's review. Heat: When bird man was injured it actually made the heat harder to defend when they inserted rashard Lewis into the starting lineup. Lewis and bosh played very well together and spreaded the floor for lebron. Biggest key is that west and Hibbert couldn't close out on them on the perimeter and lebron plus others had plenty of chances to attack the goal without the rim protector being there for the majority of the game. Spurs: When ibaka returned for OKC, they got their rim protector back and with his presence that stopped the spurs from getting so many points in the paint in games 3 & 4. But then coach pop outsmarted coach brooks by starting big man 3 point threat Matt bonner in games 5 & 6 and even though bonner didn't have great games he did two things 1. Moved ibaka away from the rim 2. Allowed the hall of famer Duncan to go one on one against the shot blocker in the post and the old man delivered. Conclusion: This ain't no cry out for hawes. This is a point that rim protectors aren't necessarily the way of a championship! Now I do believe you need a rim protector but you also need that BIG that can spread the floor and take that rim protector completely out of the game. To me this is more evidence that it's more important to have quality BIGS probably more than any other position. While I'm hoping we get hawes, I also want Hill and bebe on the hawks next year as well. But to be realistic I would be just as happy to have this big man rotation come next season: Horford-Sap-Antić-Hill or Asik-Bebe (Horford) is an overall good Big who I hear is adding the 3 point shot to his game for when we need it and I'm sure he will be a better post scorer next season. (Sap) is quick power forward who can really do it all offensively. (Antić) will improve his 3 point shot (Hill) is just a flat out hustler, just a great backup big for today's nba (Asik or Bebe) here's our rim protector we need, both should be able to alter shots while asik gives you great rebounding as well. I think the key to a nba championship is our big man rotation and big man scheme against certain teams.
