  1. This team is in a slump. It's hard for players that care not to get emotional. He's made his first ASG and posted his first triple double in Atlanta. Don't know why he would be unhappy other than losses. If that's the case then he needs to step up. His defense has been slack lately. As far as moving him to SF yes. It's not like DMC is a natural shooter in fact Millsap is better from the field. Going big will give this team an ad tabs. I was really mad when they didn't get Hawes. Thought he would have given us a chance to be a serious contender this year in the east.
  2. This is bittersweet. The streak was likely going to come to an end soon. But it had to come during a slump...at least we had the streak to enjoy.
  3. I saw a few of them at the game this week. I'm pretty sure y'all will know who they are. They are well known figures and they are adding diversity to the group.
  4. So funny. Saw it at the game. The ref was oblivious to what was going on. There needs to be someone designated to watching coaches in the final 2 minutes of a game for this specific reason.
  5. I don't know at this point either. I was really upset by the lack of movement at the trade deadline. I'm tired of hearing all this "you don't make a trade that's not in your favor." As others have suggested if the Lakers only wanted a 2nd rounder he should have pulled the trigger. Your not going to get a Walmart deal every time. Sometimes you have to give up a second round pick to get a proven center. Who might I add is averaging 7 REBS and 15 PPG in over 20 minutes. Probably would've helped out tonight vs Noah.
  6. Really disappointed with Bud tonight. The Hawks were being out rebounded and how did he answer? By playing Carroll as a 4 most of the game. There is a near 7-footer on the bench that signed a 10-day contract. He should have been given more than 3 minutes of playing time. And for the limited time he did get, he had 3 rebounds! Even more so Schröder got no playing time again. If he is going to sit on th bench he should be sent to the D League. How much did John Jenkins learn fom keeping seats warm last year? On top of the poor substitutions, he clock management was awful. I must say, I miss Larry Drew's creative play calls at the end of games. He makes Bud look like a rookie! One can argue Scott got fouled on his three but I'll say that was not by design. The play was dead 2-3 seconds on the inbound. It is really tough to know where this team is going. They should have pulled this one out. Instead Teague forced 2 silly turnovers with 30 seconds in the game.
  7. Would prefer to trade him now. We even be happy if we got a first rounder. Just to get rid of the contract.
  8. Kaman was a tough call. He did well everywhere and then was getting scrub minutes. Not sure why. Haven't watched him much lately. But you're right Ferry has made a few good moves nothing great. I dont think you can just build a franchise in 1.5 years though. With the exception of Miami, most franchises were not build over 1 summer. It has taken Indiana a few years, Hibbert has been in the league since 2008 and Paul George was drafted in 2010. The Pacers did not become true contenders until last year. So Ferry is probably trying to build through the draft. But he hasn't gotten lucky with a top 10 pick. Use GS as another example. Steph Curry has been on the team since 2009 and they've been through their ups/downs. Even with Bogut and Iggy they are not legit contenders in my book. Due to the fact that there are so many big market teams its difficult to compete when your a smaller market team like Atlanta.
  9. Scott and Martin are good in limited doses. Not major playing time. What is Bud supposed to do? Its not like Jamal is on the bench.
  10. This team has hit an impasse. The loss of Antić effected the team even more than we first thought. There very few pick-and-roll plays and the offense is struggling. We are getting out-rebounded each night and have no inside game. Now, I don't think this team can just decide to tank. There are too many teams that have worse records than us, and loosing in the NBA doesn't guarantee the first pick. So what Ferry needs to decide is who he envisions being on this team long-term. If Teague aint the guy, trade him now and let Mack and Schröder play. Long-term the team needs a center. Al Horford cannot continue to play at a position where he is undersized. A while back a member wrote that playing Horf at the Center position may have caused some injuries since he is getting bruised up. Some believe Millsap can slide over to SF. Not sure I agree. His outside game is not great and he could be very valuable to a team looking for a post player. So should the Hawks trade him? Not sure... I love watching this team. So it is very tough seeing them blown away by the Pelicans, Bulls, and Raptors. What made this team so exciting was their heart and energy. Even after Horford went out, the team played strong and competed with the best: OKC and IND. Now they are loss. If Ferry doesn't make a move we can expect to watch blowouts the rest of the year.
  11. Yes, I hate to say this, but I called this months ago: http://hawksquawk.net/community/topic/387882-the-disappearing-act-of-jeff-teague/?hl=%2Bdisappearing+%2Bact It was so evident that contract was bad. He got above market value and now Ferry is trying to trade him.
  12. Ferry signed Teague to the contract. So he is too blame. He should have known what to expect after two years of starting. Its not like Teague was ever a high BBIQ player. He has always been inconsistent.
  13. I wonder if ferry is trying to do that. Why did Mack get any pt last night?
  14. Don't know. I don't really see any point to switch to this logo. It's rather similar to the current logo. Plus., I would have to buy all new gym shorts and stuff! Of course that's why they release new logos but this doesn't do much for me.
  15. I said I this back in the summer about Teague. Everyone was so happy the Hawks gave him the deal. I was really upset because he didn't seem like the type of player that pushes himself to get better. Granted he has improved marginally since become a full time starter there are times that it's apparent that he is complacent / doesn't care. Lou is having a tough time fighting back from the injury. I would give him that benefit that he came back early to help the team.
  16. no. Maybe it's just that I respect Selig more.
  17. Tough call. Have mixed feelings about Stern. He isn't a great of a commissioner as Bud Selig, who is arguably the best commissioner in professional sports. Stern increased profits and popularity. To those who say the game would have become popular anyways, look at hockey. They've done an awful job promoting their players and the game. Hockey is only popular is parts of the country, basketball is followed in across the globe! However Stern allowed small market teams to crumble. We saw it with the Sonics, Hornets, and now were seeing it with the Timberwolves and Kings. A good commish doesn't allow teams to move from large cities like New Orleans or Seattle. He finds out what's wrong and tries to fix it with ownership. And if ownership isn't interested in building a team in that city, then the board needs to determine if they are the right owners. Although Stern did an amazing job marketing the NBA and it's players, this superstars syndrome is starting to hurt the game. Players like LeBron and Durant gets calls in their favor all the time. The new commish needs to review referring and replace most of the bums on the court calling games.
  18. i always thought 10-days didn't cost anything because they were free in 2k. Apparently these guys makes $40,000-60,000 signing a 10-day. That's ridiculous!
  19. The Mendoza Line is.referred to as .200. Not sure that was the best context to use...
  20. Bump this thread. Must say to all those who doubted me when I suggested Teague was getting worse. Granted, he is averaging the most points of his career, he is also turning the ball over at a higher rate than average and shooting below average. Since he went from averaging 16.9 and 8.1 APG in November, he has average 14.95 PPG, 6.7 APG, and 3.45 turnovers per game. To those who claim Teague started turning the ball over at a higher rate when Horford went down, look at his peers. A good PG does not simply turn the ball over more because his Center is out. He may have 1-2 fewer assists a game. However, turning the ball over carelessly should not be attributed to the loss of the center.
  21. I posted something similar to this back in December. http://hawksquawk.net/community/topic/387882-the-disappearing-act-of-jeff-teague/ Teague has regressed this year. Since he got his paycheck he seems like he has nothing to play for. It is rather sad. From what i understand the Hawks cannot even trade him.
  22. One of the better posts on the forum. Why was allen the only one not in more formal attire? Brand was awesome.
  23. Evan Turner is solid but he forces a lot of turnovers a game. Currently averaging 3.2 and only 3.9 APG. His field % is good though. Hawes is a strong. However, he is a free agent after this year. So it would presumably be a rental.
  24. He wanted multi-year deal. Nobody needs to get released. Nunnally was only signed to a 10-day. He looked strong in LON though.
