  1. I say we sign his evil twin, "Michael Williams." ~lw3
  2. Late rumor is he's holding out for a contract similar to Elin Nordegren's. :-) Really, I'll learn to accept the Max-times-Six deal eventually, on the Don't-Hate-The-Player-Hate-The-Game tip, but would really prefer there are some SNT deals A$G have planned, either for a younger star player with a shorter lease, or for some solid players to fill out our current roster. Can they front-load the contract? The thought of a 34-year-old Joe raking in the GDP of Grenada, on a team that couldn't sell out in Grenada, gives me shivers. ~lw3
  3. "Chandelier" smartly decided this afternoon to keep the money, although it allows Charlotte to move him for money reasons (avoiding luxury tax). ~lw3
  4. ...en Colbert, who absolutely roasts Cleveland and Mike D'Antoni's Knicks on the eve of free agent mania. http://backporch.fanhouse.com/2010/06/30/stephen-colbert-bashes-cleveland-tries-out-for-knicks-intervie/ ~lw3
  5. OT, prayers out to Randall Cunningham's fam. and Eskin & Reese isn't quite as bad on the ears as Eskin & King would be. Cataldi's been a mess for so long, but glad to see he's still there in the mornings. ~lw3
  6. Good god, he's not co-hosting with Eskin is he? That would be torture. ~lw3
  7. As an aside, from here on out, people will refer to him as "Austin Rivers' Dad": http://www.mysanantonio.com/sports/americans_roll_on_behind_rivers_97452984.html ~lw3
  8. Hanging in there so far! I think the Dream will get 3 players in the All-Star game. I'd imagine they'd get 4 if it weren't for the Top-10-votes-in rule, and for the Team USA-vs.-WNBA setup. My guesses would snub Izi since she's leading the league in turnovers and is last among guards in assist-to-turnovers. Sancho or Erika may get snubbed, too, if there's an urge to fill the WNBA roster with as many Team USA players (ex. Kara Lawson) as possible. Team USA: G – Sue Bird (Starter), Seattle G – Renee Montgomery (Reserve), Connecticut G – Cappie Pondexter (Starter), New York F – Seimone Augustus (Reserve), Minnesota F – Tamika Catchings (Reserve), Indiana F – Candice Dupree (Reserve), Phoenix F – ANGEL MCCOUGHTRY (Starter), Atlanta F – Diana Taurasi (Starter), Phoenix C – Jayne Appel (Reserve), San Antonio C – Tina Charles (Reserve), Connecticut C – Sylvia Fowles (Starter), Chicago WNBA: G – Katie Douglas (Reserve), Indiana G – Becky Hammon (Starter), San Antonio G – Penny Taylor (Starter), Phoenix G – Lindsey Whalen (Reserve), Minnesota F – Swin Cash (Starter), Seattle F - Lauren Jackson (Starter), Seattle F – SANCHO LYTTLE (Reserve), Atlanta F – Michelle Snow (Reserve), San Antonio F – Sophia Young (Reserve), San Antonio C – Crystal Langhorne (Starter), Washington C – ERIKA DESOUZA (Reserve), Atlanta ~lw3
  9. When the Mavs fail to get any of the players they're seeking, I got first dibs on the phrase, "Cuban Free Agent Crisis." ~lw3
  10. http://www.kitsapsun.com/news/2010/jun/24/williams-remains-close-to-his-hometown-roots/#ixzz0sLjccL4L Excerpts from a simple, pleasant article on Marvin Williams' summer so far, courtesy of his hometown paper back in the Evergreen State. BTW, belated happy 24th birthday to the Gemini. They might want to work on that basketball camp name. "Marvin Williams" and "Attack" are antonyms, and besides, "Attack Youth Camp" doesn't resonate well. And don't get on the writer for his error and misquote (I don't mean the "I Play to Win" quote; trust me, you'll find what I'm talking about). They can't possibly have knowledgeable sports editors way up there; I thought Kitsap was something you put on a hotdog with relish... ~lw3
  11. As an aside, "(s)" is right on. We'll wait and see. T-Dot seems like a nice spot for those three. ~lw3
  12. Also worth noting, Garret Siler will be on New Jersey's summer roster. ~lw3
  13. When we look back upon the summer of 2010, where do you believe each of the following will have settled? No need to predict 'em all, and feel free to add names of interest to you. My hunches: Joe Johnson - Atlanta Hawks Josh Childress - Golden State Warriors LeBron James - Chicago Bulls Dwyane Wade - Miami Heat Chris Bosh - New Jersey Nets Amar'e Stoudemire - New York Knicks Carlos Boozer - Miami Heat David Lee - Chicago Bulls Dirk Nowitzki - Dallas Mavericks Paul Pierce - Boston Celtics The best of the rest: John Salmons - New York Knicks Rudy Gay - Memphis Grizzlies Ray Allen - New Jersey Nets Brendan Haywood - Miami Heat Luis Scola - LA Clippers Raymond Felton - New York Knicks Nate Robinson - Chicago Bulls Mike Miller - Atlanta Hawks Shaquille O'Neal - Dallas Mavericks Brad Miller - Boston Celtics Ryan Gomes - Detroit Pistons Darko Milicic - Minnesota Timberwolves Kyle Lowry - Orlando Magic Channing Frye - Minnesota Timberwolves Tracy McGrady - New York Knicks Matt Barnes - Orlando Magic Al Harrington - New Jersey Nets Udonis Haslem - Washington Wizards Ronnie Brewer - Memphis Grizzlies Steve Blake - Miami Heat Shannon Brown - Houston Rockets Tyrus Thomas - Charlotte Bobcats Tony Allen - Boston Celtics Travis Outlaw - Charlotte Bobcats JJ Redick - LA Clippers Jordan Farmar - Sacramento Kings Josh Howard - Cleveland Cavaliers Zydrunas Ilgauskas - Cleveland Cavaliers Linas Kleiza - Denver Nuggets Flip Murray - Philadelphia 76ers Anthony Morrow - Cleveland Cavaliers Will Bynum - Detroit Pistons Tyson Chandler (if he opts out) - New York Knicks ~lw3
  14. NBADraft.net Interview -- March 2010 NBADraft.net Profile: James Augustine was reported to join the Hawks, but recently confirmed he'll be playing for Utah. ~lw3
  15. ^ "HAHAHAHAHA I'M Your D.J. NOW, Princey! HAHAHAHAHAHA" ~lw3
  16. I am so glad I wasn't the only one who nearly spit out my drink hearing DA suggest that. Almost as hare-brained as my Joe-the-PG scheme. Let's just go with an everybody-out-of-position starting lineup and confuse the heck out of everybody. PG - Joe SG - Marv SF - Smoove PF - Zaza C - Al ~lw3
  17. He wasn't exactly The Choice of a New Generation of draft experts... OK, I'll stop there! :-) Although if he sucks, as all indications are so far, I wouldn't mind carrying a sign to the arena with Pape Sy's & Ray Charles's faces on it saying, "Hey Sund! You Got The Wrong One Baby! Uh-Huh!" ~lw3
  18. RIP to the dude. He's not, thankfully there have been just a handful of deaths in SANCTIONED matches of MMA (and the Toughman-style comps from years back), but nothing at a level of significance to raise concern in the sport. Sam Vasquez is considered the first and that was about 3 years ago. ~lw3
  19. Not "embarrassed" about taking Pepsi at 53, more regretful that we didn't take someone who will help our bench right away (when there were clearly such players available, a rarity at this point in the draft). Until he proves otherwise he's another Othello Hunter. ~lw3
  20. Brad and McDaniel's secret love child? http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/rumors/post/Elway-wants-to-own?urn=nfl,251806 ~lw3
  21. Way to go, Joe! The first of at least ten consecutive years of telling people you're 29 years old! :snowballfight: Happy Birthday to ya! ~lw3
  22. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/worldnews/article-1289194/Marina-Bay-Sands-resort-opens-Singapore.html I'd have a blue fog around me the whole time in there... ~lw3
  23. Happy Birthday to Joe Johnson who turns 29 (for the first of many, many years) tomorrow. Just putting that out there. ~lw3
