  1. That's right. That still doesn't change our situation. There are players that just don't attract top talent to come join them on their team. Last time I looked, the Atlanta metro area has well over 6 million people, the 9th largest in the US. We are not a small market. However, we are perceived as a small market. Dallas has goofy ownership. SGA, Ja and Hali are in markets no one wants to be in, and probably the same is true of Atlanta for whatever reason. I was looking at comments on the collision that occurred this week where two drivers were killed on I-75. A common statement was that our traffic was the worst in the nation (worse than Boston or Chicago). Another was that we have a lot of violent crime in Atlanta. I just don't know how attractive we are as a city to outside players. Trae has a reputation, rightly or wrongly, of being selfish and immature. For example, he is asked to distribute the ball a little more, and what does he do? He pouts, and doesn't shoot at all, all the time with a scowl on his face (i.e. throws a tantrum.) No one asked him not to score, they just wanted a more balanced offense, but he takes it personally and pouts.
  2. Yeah, that was a great single game. What about the first two games of the series? I know I'll get the "every player has bad games" and I agree with that. But no first tier superstar wants to come and play with Trae. That tells you something in and of itself. Durant had no interest in coming here. Kyrie had no interest in coming here (which is okay). LeBron has never been interested in coming here. How are we ever going to advance if no one wants to come here?
  3. I don't know. FVV has always shot right around 40% from the field, but his 3 PT % is in the high 30s. He doesn't draw a lot of free throws. How is his defense? Disregard. I misread your post. Sorry.
  4. Here's the bottom line Diesel. I just don't like arrogant people who believe that they've never made a mistake in their whole life. How many times will he do the pound the ball into the floor with time running out, only to get trapped, turn the ball over or throw up a lousy shot? He needs to learn how to manage time. He's been in the league five years now. This is a junior varsity high school level mistake. And you can see it coming and know exactly what he is going to do. Undoubtedly he is very talented, he just needs to play smart for a change.
  5. No, we'd just be unloading a big problem for a lesser one.
  6. Well, everyone on here trashes Collins, perhaps rightfully so. We don't have much in the way of draft picks for the next few years. What is Toronto's incentive?
  7. We're going to have to rebuild anyway. You cannot win a championship with a six ft tall bean pole who thinks far too highly of himself. If you put him on this Boston team in place of White or Smart, would the Celtics be a better team? I don't think so. He would not subjugate his game to Tatum or Brown, and there would always be tension and discord.
  8. Whoopee. As you have said many times, "empty stats."
  9. Not sure how any sane person could actually think we'll ever even sniff a championship with him as the primary option, and his ego won't let him be #2.
  10. Why not? It isn't like we're going to win anything with Trae as the centerpiece.
  11. So ATL is really just a personality cult? That's a shame.
  12. I'm not sure where she saw it and I doubt it has much validity, but the article talked about a big trade between the Hawks and the Raptors. Basically it's Trae for Siakim. I would jump on that so fast it would your head swim, but Toronto would.probably not be suckered in to making that trade.
  13. I cringe when he does his inevitable pounding of the ball too long and ends up with a shot clock violation or a turnover. How many years will it take him to realize that doesn't work out well? (The definition of insanity - doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.)
  14. Perhaps they meant he is most overrated by Atlanta fans.
  15. Pettit retired after the 1964-65 season. The Hawks didn't move to Atlanta until the 1968 season. That is BS about him not wanting to play in Atlanta. It was Lenny Wilkens who didn't want to play in Atlanta.
  16. If we're still losing big at half time, it might indicate it's time for a nap.
  17. .That would be so funny. It would give those national announcers and analysts a see-wee-us case of on set di-a-wee-ah
  18. I don't hate Hunter. He is very inconsistent, and you never know which version of him will show up. He is a mediocre player who gets paid better than mediocre money. Just because someone doesn't value someone as highly as you do does not mean they hate them. I think my wife might be a Trae hater, because once again, he dribbled away a chance to win the game, and I would tend to agree with her. You could see it coming a mile away. If regular Joe fans can see it, why can't management, and why can't Trae?
  19. I would agree with much of what you are saying. I am hopeful that if we keep DJM & Trae, that Quin will have a chance to design something better than than switching PGs every other possession. I agree with your thoughts on JC, if we keep him. I think it is time for CC to move on. He does not switch to cover the rim, which shocks me. I guess I got spoiled with Dikembe. CC is a great rebounder, and we don't have a replacement for that though, but he is so limited on offense and is a bad free throw shooter. He does not win the Gray Mule free throw seal of approval. Bey is not a good defender, but is pretty good on offense. Hunter is so inconsistent on offense that it is often aggravating. I don't see any reason to pursue KAT or Gobert. Gobert is an older, bigger, much more expensive CC. KAT is the disappearing man, and makes too much money. Maybe we could take a look at Ayton, but I am not overly impressed, given his price vs. production. I would be okay with Quin keeping Prunty, Longabardi and maybe even McMillIan Jr. If he would like to. I don't think he has made much of a connection with the rest of Nate's staff.
  20. Poor old San Antonio and Detroit. Rodney Dangerfield would say, "They don't get no respect."
  21. I used to think Luka was better. Now I'm not all that impressed with either. They're both prima donnas and they're not winners in the NBA.
  22. Yes, and I am really impressed with his passing and ball handling ability. He is a streaky scorer and rebounder, but to me, he has been the most pleasant surprise of the season.
