  1. I think we would have a fair chance of getting Bynum and if we get him, we might get Chris Paul too. With Bynum, Paul and if we keep J Smooth, we would have a contender.
  2. What's wrong with building through the draft? I like the Pacers/Trailblazers/Bulls/Spurs. Look at the teams who overpay, what do they get?
  3. Its sad seeing everyone act crazy about the prospect of losing D Howard and building an all star team. Some people don't care about winning a championship, they just like making the playoffs and getting booted out of the first round.
  4. Why can't we get Bynum next yr? What about D Wright? Chris Paul? Ariza? What if we had Bynum, Horford, Josh Smith and Chris Paul? You can't even LEAVE DWIGHT ON THE FLOOR during the final mins because he can't shoot freethrows. Ever heard of hack a Shaq? Who care's if we get Dwight and we have to LOSE Horford, Are you kidding me? Keep Horford and let the chips fall where they may.
  5. Worst case scenario, we only have Horford and then we get into lottery picks for a few years, I'm good with that. Best case scenario, we keep Hardford, Josh Smith, and get Chris Paul and Dwight. I'm good with that. Third scenario, we keep Josh Smith and Horford and make them center pieces, I'm good with that too. What I'm not good with, keeping the status quo and not even trying and being a first round knockout every year. I'd rather go lottery and possibly get Davis or Beal.I'd rather watch paint dry than see iso-joe again.
  6. Because with the contract for iso-joe you don't get: Paul X X Smoove Dwight so why would Dwight come here without Paul?
  7. I'd rather pick up Al Jefferson and keep Horford.
  8. Joe Johnson is no Paul Pierce, Wallace is no Lebron James. With iso-Joe, Wallace who can't score on his own, they will simply be the NY knicks II. However, Deron Williams to Dwight will be good but not enough for a ring.
  9. He will certainly be more exciting than ja-ja-ja-ja-joe johnson.
  10. If Joe Johnson was 26 yrs old, I'd agree but at 31? No thanks. Without Josh or Al, I'd like to see what he can do.
  11. If Joe was a better passer and made everyone around him better, I'd agree but now the NJ Net's are just NY knicks without Tyson Chandler or Amare. Joe Johnson is the same as Carmelo Anthony, they are one on one shooters not Lebron or Wade or Durant or Kobe (although Kobe looked like a ball stopper last season - I mean who doesn't pass the ball to 7 footers?).
  12. I doubt the trade will happen unless the Lakers will be willing to part with Howard after one yr. He's not going to watch Lobe jacking up shots while he plays mr rebounder.
  13. Too funny, if you look at the history of the NBA, its the bad contracts that restrict clubs, and bad draft picks, etc but bad contracts and bad picks are what kills you. JJ is a good player but I wouldn't put him in the top 5. Igodala, Kobe, Wade, KD, Ginobli, Harden, etc. I listed 6 because KD can play three diff positions. Looking at what the max contract restricted us to and the fact that we got a pick out of it AND we can possibly keep Josh, I think its a WONDERFUL deal.
  14. We should have never signed Joe Johnson and kept "he who's name shall not be mentioned". We should have never signed Marvin Williams and Zaza Pachula for so much money. or not at all. Never should have gotten Kirk Hinrich either. Teague, Harford and Josh Smith should be our go to guys.
  15. You need a hard cap because we are sick of seeing the Lakers/Celtics winning half of the trophies, that's another reason why the NFL is successful, diversity. We need to remove guarunteed money from the contracts, at least past 3 yrs. The cap also needs to be lowered so at least 70% of the teams, WITHOUT INCOME SHARING, can be profitable.
  16. That's the whole point. The league has very few that's interested in buying teams, so much so that many teams have to move to another state in order for them to survive. So the Ellison argument proves my point. Also, sounds a lot like hockey doesn't it? Look, I'm simply stating that if each team generated 100 million in profits per year, 350 mill for a team would be a drop in the bucket for prospective buyers. NFL teams are in demand and Basketball is world wide so it should be able to generate at least as much interests. Its no secret that in Atlanta, the Hawks are losing money and that makes no sense. A hard cap isn't about revenue sharing as much as maintaining balance in the league, I'm sick of the Lakers/Celtics finals. Its not that they have the best players but they have the best markets to attract players. I believe a hard cap would help that situation. Lastly, revenue sharing is a joke. Who believe's that markets like LA, NY and Boston will REALLY share enough revenue so no team loses money? If the players are supposed to make money then so do the owners. Having 10-20 teams losing money each year is a joke and means that smaller markets won't get teams. If 20 teams are really losing money out of 32, that's attrocious, revenue sharing or not. I can see revenue sharing helping out 2-3 teams but 20 is indefensible. Have the owners making decent money so the clubs will have long term value and won't have to move away from smaller markets and I'm all in. Take a look at this article and it underscores the point. http://www.hoopsworld.com/Story.asp?STORY_ID=20424
  17. When a league has to buy a team because noone else wants them, then you know the CBA is crap. They also need a hard cap, otherwise you'll see boston, NY and LA have much better chances to win titles and I'm NOT a lakers/celtics fan, I'm a hawks fan so lets hope that they get a hard cap.
  18. "The ongoing legal dispute earned the group a reputation as the most fractious ownership in North American professional sports." We need a REAL owner, not a crazy group.
  19. Get a real team. Look at the Falcons now and when Vick was here. Give us a team we can be excited about.
  20. We should trade Joe Johnson and seperately josh smith. Leave the core around Al Hortford and Crawford.
  21. Let's talk about this. Nobody had a problem with this when he thought of going to the Bulls/Knicks/Nets but somehow I think the thought of him "choosing" a powerhouse vs an up and coming team or a rebuilding team kinda upset people. Its my understanding he didn't make up his mind until that morning. I DO believe he owed it to the Cav organization to let them know but even still, I don't see owners calling up players letting them know they've been traded either. Most times they find out via ESPN or the local news. None of it is very sporting, courteous or fair but I wish people would react just like this when the owners do the same. That being said, you have a point, he did it shamelessly and the "after" party was even worse. I have no love for Gilbert who built his fortune on the backs of now homeless people. He did the online Quicken loans with sub-prime mortgages, reverse mortgages, etc. IMHO he should be in prison along with all the other pimps/drug dealers. He's not a "REAL" owner but just a sleeze bag. So yeah, he's going to pamper his main "SQUEEZE" AKA Lebron James and act like a spoiled child when he can't "PIMP it out". No I don't have nor ever did any Quicken loan crap but I do feel for the city though They got the short end of the stick as fans typically do.
  22. Didn't Mo get OWNED by Rajon Rondo? Why would we want him?
  23. Look, its not the city that makes the team, that was Gilbert and he failed. Its strange how we don't fault owners when they trade players who love the team or coaches who leave talented players on the bench (look up Woodson and Jeff Teague) for players like ..... Bibby. Yet we go berserk over a player who leaves for better pastures. If anyone complained about Lebron James it was me. I didn't like how he walked out of the playoffs after losing to the Magic or the "show" he puts on before the game but this THIS is actually the opposite I would expect from him. He's taking a backstage to D Wade and sharing with Bosh. He's also leaving 10 mil on the table too for cap space (something I doubt Joe Johnson would do) and He's whethering the storm he knew he would get. He's sacrificing for his dreams. When I looked at these guys on the olympic basketball team, I thought they played EXTREMELY well together. Let's also look at the fact that if he were injured or wasn't as talented, how teams and fans typically view athletes. We are a win now generation and when a team doesn't win we talk about getting rid of this or that player in a heartbeat. If the fans are bad, the owners hit about 10 notches below the belt and then some. All I'm saying is that I actually think this was a gutsy move and if I were in the same situation, I might do the same. If you didn't have greedy owners, uptight fans and loyalty from the outside, maybe the players wouldn't be so quick to leave. I'll say it again, If I had to take flak for playing with Wade and Bosh vs 38 yr old "BIG SHAQ" and a "B" team vs a 10x better chance for the ring. I'd take the ring everytime.
  24. With Miller they have the ability to stretch the floor, Haslem is for Defense. That along with Mario Chalmers, top 15 PG, that's six. You get an athletic 6'11" defensive Center and that's it. You can foul and hack Howard all day as he can't make free throws and gets into foul trouble. As far as the Celtics, I think that KG and Perkins would reek havoc but when it was CLEAR that KG would own Gasol, he didn't take advantage of it. So I don't think the Celtics can spank them either. The biggest and clear threat is the Lakers but Kobe is still a year older and Bynum injury prone.
  25. They only signed for 110 million rather than 120 milllion like Joe Johnson. That will allow for more cap space.
