  1. Maybe there is a financial incentive for the hawks to let him leave on his own than to outright fire him. At this point, I wouldn't put it pass Ressler if it would save him a couple of bucks.
  2. Not to be nit picky, but I blame Ferry far more than LD for the Giannis debacle. Ferry was the one that kept LD around long enough to let him soak up all of our draft intel and allowed him to go search & secure another coaching job all right before the draft when it was clear he wasn't going to return as the coach next year. Ferry had full control of the situation. LD was just trying to secure another job.
  3. The elephant in the room is Trae. He drastically reduces the flexibility of what we can do with our roster with his piss poor defense. We sacrificed our elite shooting to give us a chance to not be the worst defensive team in the league. I would love to be proven wrong but I'm struggling to figure what players we can realistically get that can fix our shooting while maintaining our middle of the road defense. Maybe a coaching change can miraculously fix our offense.
  4. Don't get the Ben Simmons fit at all. We already have two guards who will dominate the ball for 30 mins-40 mins a game. We have enough playmaking. We should focus on getting playfinishers and shooters who can hold up defensively. At the end of the day, this is an offensive oriented league. We can't afford to have multiple non-shooters on the floor. Our offensive will crater come playoff time. I think we should focus on getting a SF/PF that can back up hunter, can make open shots and fit in our defensive switching scheme in the mold of a Jae Crowder/Pj Tucker.
  5. Sorry, Its not the salary that I'm worried about. I wanted to point out that Trae can opt out in that 26/27 season. So we can potentially enter that season without Trae and without a 1st round pick.
  6. 2027 unprotected pick could be a disaster for us if this doesn't work out. The spurs knew exactly what they were doing. Edit: Forgot to note in 2027 offseason its highlighted in blue because Trae has a player option that he can opt out of.
  7. The more I look into Dejounte Murray, the more I'm not liking the fit with Trae especially for the Spurs' asking price. The desire for Murray seems more like a desperation move to get something done than a move that can take this team to a championship caliber level. 6'4 180, not a great shooter with a below average TS%, and not a true SG. These are the concerns that I have for Murray. How much value will he bring to the team over someone like Delon Wright when 80% of the time, the ball will be in Trae's hands? Can he actually guard the big guards of the east (Harden, Jaylen Brown, Jimmy Butler, Demar Derozan, Kris MIddleton etc..) in a full 7 games series? Both Murray and Trae will need to change their games drastically for the offensive fit to work. Are you willing to take a huge bet that will happen?
  8. I disagree that Randle would add more value than Gallo on a Trae Young led team. Gallo is a 6'10 high volume 3 point shooter that shoots close to 40% and takes little off the table of better offensive options and gives all the space in the world to allow Trae Young to do his thing. Julius Randle is the complete opposite. Randle fits the mold of a Josh Smith. He is a high usage high volume bad shot taker with questionable decision making who dominates the ball and makes close to $30M over the next 4 years. He pads his assist numbers like Josh Smith by taking the ball out of the guard's hand and monopolizing the offense with his Superstar like usage and Kevin Durant/Luka Doncic Like Isolation Frequencies with league worst efficiencies. I view him as a net negative player overall and not a good fit at all.
  9. The Julius Randle obsession is strange to me. Fans overate high volume low value-added shot creation waaaaayyy to much. Just because a player has high ppg doesn't mean he is a good player. I put Julius Randle value add in the same tier as hawksquawk's favorites Rudy Gay, Monta Ellis and Al Jefferson. John Collins > Julius Randle
  10. Julius Randle is undersized, isn't a great shooter or defender. Not a good fit with Trae. No Thanks
  11. Not surprising. Remember, the hawks had long stretches of being a straight dumpster fire and we struggled to achieve a winning record until the conclusion of the season. That matters when it comes to all nba voting.
  12. Hes isn't worth double of what Capela is making + Our only decent wing defender + a pick. That is all
  13. No interest in giving up that much so we can have the opportunity to pay Gobert 40m per year in his 30's over the next several years only to see him blow layups. In this era of 5 out offense. No rim protector that is limited offensive is worth $40m PERIOD. A 3 point shooting big being paid pennies can completely neutralize him especially with the amount of defensive holes we already have on the team. Defense is a complete 5 man game and if you think we can plug Gobert in any line-up and he can somehow cover all of our massive defensive gaps haven't been watching all these playoff games closely. It takes a village to even cover 1 defensive liability on the court in a high level 7 game series. Watching almost every playoff game, IMO this is what should be prioritized in this order. 1.) Secondary shot creator 2.) Coaching Upgrade 3.) Wing defenders that can also hit outside shots
  14. I rarely agree with Diesel takes but give me Capela making $20m per year over the next few seasons than dealing with this from someone making double. Btw this was all from one game. Atleast Ayton has the skillset to be a 2nd or 3rd option on offense. Gobert has no hope of even being an option.
  15. I'm not a fan of Gobert because hes being paid $40m per year until 2026 to be an offensive liability.
  16. Personally, I hope the hawks don't go after him. I'm done dealing with injury prone players. We have enough of them.
  17. I would agree with you if we didn't just give him a 4 year extension in the beginning of the year. As depressing as it sounds, I think we are stuck with him for at least another season.
  18. I was very pessimistic about the 60 win team because we had 2 months of elite play then finished the season looking extremely mediocre once teams started adjusting to us. They looked very underwhelming in the playoffs against teams that should have been handled with ease before getting completely embarrassed by the cavs.
  19. I never like Ferry at all. He was a mediocre GM with a huge ego. I know a lot of people on here liked him but hawks fan expectations for a GM were so low due to the ASG regime. His "rebuild" and accumulate assets while competing game plan was a complete flop. Whoever thinks a team can do that all at once is delusion. He used a once in a generation trade (Harden trade) to justify his plan. All he did was reduce our payroll and let veterans build up their market value which put us in a position where we had to overpay to keep them. His free agency flops and draft flops led us to more wasted years of mediocrity even after his departure.
  20. Ferry tried to trade the two picks for Giannis after the bucks selected him. The bucks declined.

Lol this guessing game is killing me. I say its jrue holiday https://heatnation.com/rumors/miami-heat-looking-add-player-who-make-really-dangerous/ technically he was an all star in 2013 and he plays SG
  22. Yea that is horrendous but what is funny is that when you take a 2nd look at who we played. Besides the bulls, any team in the league would have difficulty winning against those teams on the 2nd half of back to back especially ON THE ROAD. Our schedule has been comically brutal. Its like whoever made our schedule wanted to make sure the momentum, confidence, and spirit we had from the end of last season was crushed immediately with no hope of recovering.
  23. OKC deal? So we are working on a trade that involves taking on additional salary for the OKC's pick (21st)? So we are planning on having 4 first rounders in the draft??? Are we locked in on a certain prospect and using the extra picks to potentially move up to ensure we can get him?
