  1. Good thoughts. But I think people are getting my post misconstrued. I'm simply offering my insight on how motivation can either make or break a "young" player like Schröder. Its a fair observation when you think about professional sports and contracts. There's a reason why organizations use the play first and get paid last motto for players. We've seen our share of players like Erik Dampier and Larry Hughes whose motivations were strictly to make their families comfortable. After the big payday, winning and getting better no longer matters (For those with the financial motivation). Now the competitive player. The Kobe Bryants, Kevin Garnetts, and Pauls Pierces are solely motivated to bust *** and dominate while playing the game. The way these players are wired, the big contracts automatically happen on the back end. Money isn't the big factor. The question that I presented is... How do you think Schroeders wired? Was his motivations solely about the money and the starting point guard title. Or, is he a raw competitor and gamer? Please keep your emotions out of this when posting.. lol
  2. If you all can remember a couple weeks ago when Schröder received his early extension, a few of us had our worries. Majority of the worry was due to the feeling that Schröder wasn't earning his starting spot and $60 million extension from the Hawks brass. A young kid with the keys to a Ferrari and the bank account to wreck it without worry. It seems we may be right. Watching Dennis play Sunday gave me the feeling that this kid no longer has anything to play for. He finally became the man on a winning franchise; he received a very lucrative contract after working as a backup; and he was able to bring his family over to the States. There's literally nothing else for him to play for if he was wired with those three goals in mind. Maybe I'm wrong, but I was a kid once and if I had those three things going for me before the age of 25, it would be hard for me to rewire into a stone-cold competitor. Its just a simple fact of maturity and becoming an adult. This will take time. But, do we have enough time for him to rewire himself? Thoughts?
  3. No, that was the defensive strategy tonight. You play the lanes to stop the penetration from Wall and Beal. You make the other players beat you. Morris scored points, but we neutralized Beal and Wall. Winning strategy my man.
  4. Ummmmm.. No! Lol! "100" is a statement of agreement.
  5. Costello's ass cheeks. Kid wouldn't last one quarter without fouling out against head offensive players.
  6. His tweet a couple days ago and the comments from his family shows that this letter is nothing but a contradiction. Dude never cared about the fans because that was the reason why he left. He will always remain soft in my eyes. What a jerk!
  7. Yep. http://www.playerwives.com/nba/atlanta-hawks/al-horford-wife-amelia-vega/
  8. Sounds like he was forced to write this by his wife and agent. Dude is the ultimate tool and I would love if the organization did something for the fans to embarrass him in his first game back at Phillips. I never understood the love everyone had for this faker throughout his years here. He was nothing short of a ego maniac that loved his self and image more than the team. You should read the story about how he bolted on his ex and married the chick he's with now. Funny how history repeats itself.
  9. Word on the street is he will get probation and a fine due to his clean record and community work.
  10. He literally stopped playing and left his teammates out to dry.
  11. Today was a good day for me as it proved another point that have always stressed here on the Squawk in regards to, "Chocolate Chip Cookie Soft Horford." I have always been ridiculed on this board in the past for my critical critique of Al and his soft play. But today finally gave me my moment of happiness, because Al showed you all what type of a-hole he really was all along. Furthermore, it also shows how much Tito influences Al off the court. Tito reminded me of Boobie Miles uncle with his cheap and tasteless attack on us Hawks fans just to excuse his sons slivery decision. Dude wanted to leave Atlanta before the Cleveland series started. He played not to get hurt just to protect his payday. Then he leads management on a wild goose chase to look for other avenues to use in shaping his decision to leave. I never liked him as a Hawk, and I look forward to Howard drop-stepping on his punk ass next season. We will make him regret his decision much sooner than we all think. "ET TU BRUTUS..."
  12. I'm liking what I'm seeing so far. Horford where you at son?!!!!
  13. So this will possibly beat the ridiculousness of Joe's contract. Lol. No way in hell he gets that much!
  14. I was about to say the same thing right after I read the post. What a jerk! Maybe we should make his contract contingent on collecting more than 4 rebounds a game. This is his way of creating an excuse to sign with another team. Watch how bad the Teague trade hurts us in the end. Bud gambled too quickly and fell into Horfords ropadope.
  15. It means nothing will the small lineups have to match up with our size and speed as well. Didn't Golden State lose to size once Bogut got hurt?
  16. Lets think about this lineup for a second... Dennis, Baze, Sap, Al, Howard... If that's not a nasty lineup that will be un-guardable under the basket, I don't know what. Geez! Imagine the space Kyle will get when Sap sits.
  17. Supe, you're tripping homie. Al Horford gets punished while going against traditional centers. He hasn't been the same defensively since Josh Smith left his weak-side. Al has terrible footwork and lacks the ability to accurately guess where his matchup is going. Dude has slow hips and usually rotates late while helping on defense.
  18. Prime example of piss-poor planning. You've had enough time to go over draft scenarios just in case a steal fell in your lap. Who in the hell grabs a steal and trade them off to a conference contender because you love your roster too much to cut someone? Damn Hawks man!
  19. Who in there right mind trades a 2nd round steal to a conference champion? And for cash? The NBA is about to have the biggest cap in years and we're dealing for flexibility instead of talent. Please run this clown out of town now!!!! Him and Dimitroffs doppelganger!! I would've told Cleveland to kiss my feathery a#$! Just stupid and disheartening to your fans!
