  1. Salary cap was 58 mil last year and it barely changed over the last year. At best it will be 60 mil next year. Am I missing something?
  2. Horford is a more valuable player than Smoove but if Howard wants Josh to stay with the Hawks, why not trade Horford to Celtics for Rondo? I know he is recovering from ACL but a lineup Howard-Smith-Korver-Lou-Rondo would be a pretty good. And we would still have some cap space to go after another cheaper FA.
  3. This is from the interview with Dwight's dad in AJC: “The problem is the coach. (D’Antoni) needs to step in and say, ‘You guys have got to be quiet. We’re trying to secure something here. Dwight is probably looking at the coach, thinking, ‘What are you going to do?’ I promise, if that had been Stan Van Gundy, that wouldn’t have happened. (Howard) wouldn’t have been admonished publicly. I think the coach has a lot to do with who controls Kobe’s mouth right now.” Of course this is his dad, not himself but I believe his experience in LA made him appreciate SVG. Anyway, I am hyped!
  4. I will really hate if we sign underachieving (Tyreke, O.J.), delusional (Monta Ellis, Jennings, JR Smith) or injury prone (Bynum) players. We need high character guys.
  5. This city needs a superstar for excitement. Good players won't do the work, we already had them for years. So for me, if we can't land CP3 or Howard, tanking to get a potential superstar in 2014 Draft is the way to go. But if Ferry can't risk that, then I would be happy with this: Al Jefferson (14 mil/yr) Al Horford (12 mil/yr) Andre Iguodala (13 mil/yr) Tony Allen (8 mil/yr) Jeff Teague (8 mil/yr) Bench: Lou Williams (5.25 mil/yr) John Jenkins (1.25 mil/yr) Kyle Korver (mid level - 5 mil/yr) Ivan Johnson (bi-annual exception) Rookie Center Rookie SF Mike Scott I am not a capologist but if we release all of our expirings other than Teague who has a hold of 6 mil, we should have enough money to sign Iggy, Tony Allen and Jefferson. Then we can sign Teague to a 8-9 mil/yr contract (which should be enough for him imo). Later on sign Korver to MLE and Ivan to Bi-annual exception. Fill the rest with vet minimum and draft. I am not high on Jefferson, I don't like his defense and he is a black hole. That being said, with such a line up, we would have a lot of problems with scoring. So guys like Jefferson and Lou who can score at will are important. Bring'em home Ferry :-) Edit: Of course this is based on the assumption that these players don't resign with their teams which is unfortunately unlikely for Tony Allen or Iggy unless we overpay.
  6. One name that I strongly oppose is Avery Johnson. He had a many problems with Deron&Dirk and hasn't achieved anything at all. But most importantly that voice... It is just killing me.
  7. It hurts me to say this. Zaza is a friend, I love the man like a brother. But Zaza you need to know...
  8. He is playing amazing this playoffs. He is gonna be paid :-)
  9. He is my favorite Hawk and I would love to see him here. However, if we land a quality Center who takes most of the minutes, I don't see us keeping him. Edit: Of course I am assuming he will want more than vet min. For vet min or 2-3 mil/year, it is a no brainer.
  10. My only concern with a no name coach is that I am worried it may hurt our chances at FA.
  11. Haha CP3 is also ejected and Clippers are about to be eliminated. Just like Dwight Howard. How fitting is that :-)
  12. In the west I am rooting for Mempis and San Antonio. In the east I do not have a dog but if I had to choose one, I would go with Brooklyn due to JJ.
  13. Offseason will truly begin when Clippers will be eliminated tonight :-)
  14. Dolphins :-) Seriously though he is a great owner. Every player talks very high of him, even the released ones. Free agents want to be a part of this team which is a dream for Hawks :-)
  15. I was not pleased with LD also but let's be honest, he did a good job considering that it was a rebuilding season. I believe he can have a Woodson type of turn around in his career in the future.
  16. It is obvious, a new owner :-) How amazing would it be if Arthur Blank purchased the team?
  17. I think underachieving guys like Mayo, Bynum, Jennings or Tyreke make us a playoff team at best just like we were before. We need winners in here. By tanking I mean having the worst record next year and hoping for a franchise player in the draft. I would not keep Josh in this case. If we can land a good pick for Horford, we can trade him too. OKC Thunder type of rebuilding in summary.
  18. If we can't land Howard or CP3, I PRAY we don't panic and land guys like Jennings, Bynum, Mayo or Tyreke. Detroit did that with Charlie V and Ben Gordon. It never works. Tanking is a much better option in my opinion.
  19. And then he will probably run for the Coach of the Year award like Woodson :-)
  20. Exactly. My mother almost died when she was delivering my brother. Good luck to Petro.
  21. Props to him. Don't let people judge you because of who you are.
  22. Smoove at SF is not a good idea at all. If Howard comes to Atl, we should make a decision between Horford or Smoove at PF. Ideally Horford is the better option but Smoove and DH12 are buddies. Hard to say...
  23. This series is important for the offseason. We should look promising. I like our chances though.
