  1. Thus far Josh and Al have not been able to get another great player to Atlanta, or as Supes says "a true #1 option." Dwight is the kind of player that will make other great players WANT to come to Atlanta. Who was our last great free agent signing? Dwight will lead to us getting players down here and in time make our team of championship caliber. We've tried it with our current group (who I really like) but if we're going to blow up the team anyway, Dwight doesn't seem like a bad piece to start a rebuild.
  2. So running the pnr with the ball in Jeff Teague's hands 4th most run play? Teague has been our starter for one year and it seems that most agree that Horford is our best pnr player and we didnt even have him this season. Was our offenseactually going to run the pnr more this season? When Horford went down did Larry freak out and decide to stick with our old ISO and spot up tendencies? I would really like to see this chart compared to one which shows what we did when we had Horford in the lineup at the beginning of the season. I want to see our offense next season already
  3. I have a feeling all hell is about to break loose
  4. I found this very interesting and thought that some of you would as well.http://deadspin.com/5912397/?utm_campaign=socialflow_deadspin_twitter&utm_source=deadspin_twitter&utm_medium=socialflow
  5. I was a kid when Deke was in Atlanta and yes, he was popular among kids. How are you just going to make a blanket statement like you are the SME about everything?
  6. Deke was a great defender and an All Star. I don't remember him being clumsy. I remember him as a great defender who had a very long career.
  7. Ha, not trying to troll here but just wanted to say that Deke is my favorite player to ever play in the NBA. I got a Deke jersey when I was 13 and still wear sometimes even though it's an extremely tight squeeze. I wanted to be Deke growing up so much that I'd lower the basketball goal in our driveway so I could block my little brothers' shots every time even if it was goal tending so I could do the finger wag in their face. I mean check out my user name for goodness sake!
  8. This is not true at all. Jeff Teague started every game his sophomore year at Wake and was an All-American. Ish Smith started when Teague was a freshman, came off the bench every game when Teague was a sophomore, and then started again when Teague left after his Sophomore year.
  9. I was a big fan of Bimbo Coles and Matt Maloney
  10. The Spurs are the best team in the West. I'm looking forward to seeing how Stern's able to get them out of there.
  11. I misunderstood your intitial question. My bad NineOh. Didn't realize at first that it was a cap space question and not a would you do this trade question
  12. Why couldn't we just trade our former #2 pick for the current #2 pick? Don't you think just Marvin is enough? All kidding aside, I would think that yes, trading Joe/Marvin or Josh/Marvin would get us the #2 pick. I don't think I'd give up Joe and Josh for a pick that could turn out to be Kwame Brown, Marvin Williams, or Hasheem Thabeet. Is even giving up 2 already established players worth the risk? I mean two starters on a playoff team is a lot to give up for potential. I wouldn't do it.
  13. Hey, look at that. Rick got a second place vote.http://www.nba.com/2012/news/05/16/executive-of-the-year/index.html?ls=iref:nbahpt2
  14. You seriously almost just gave me a heart attack. I thought this had been reported or something. I think Fratello could be a good fit here.
  15. I think Sund has done a great job with what ASG has given him to work with. I think he was able to improve our team every year he's been here. The trade for Jamal turned out to be a good one. Almost everyone fell in love with him here as he was a great spark off our bench for a couple of seasons. Then, when many of us were worried when we let him walk, Sund improved our bench substantially. And by substantially, I mean, we actually had a bench this season. When is the last time we said that? Kirk, Pargo, Willy, T-Mac, Ivan, Vlad Rad (who played well early this season) all were key contributors throughout the year. That was a big improvement over just Jamal and Zaza who had been our bench before this season. Also, I believe Sund got here right as or right after Chillz left and handled the situation well. I guess it's pretty obvious now that I voted to keep Sund. The Hawks have offered him an extension, now the ball's in Rick's court this summer.
  16. But you know what, he's right. Players need to learn what their strengths and weaknesses are for the better of the team. The whole is greater than the sum of it's parts unless one of the parts is LeBron, Kobe, Rose, Durant or another superstar that the NBA is going to make untouchable and the center of attention in the media and on the court. It's pretty tough to get a superstar when picking in the middle of the first round though. We might have the pieces to trade for one but will any stay here? Have any superstars signed with us in the past....ever? The way to go is through the draft and for the past 5 years we have been to far down the board and before that, well, we missed...I've been going to games since I can remember and there's nothing more that I'd love to see than our arena filled with fans of the same team cheering like hell with the Hawks on their way to victory. Hopefully, one day it'll happen. With the way the NBA is these days though, Wretch is right, we need a superstar to make the fans come, we need a superstar to get the team calls, we need a superstar to get recognition by the media, we need a superstar if we want a shot in hell at winning.
  17. Guys, this is crazy. Has anybody seen this? Evidently a writer doing a column for ESPN Insider about the Spurs blatantly plagiarized a poster on the Spurs message board. http://deadspin.com/5910612/?utm_campaign=socialflow_deadspin_twitter&utm_source=deadspin_twitter&utm_medium=socialflowTo all the writers out there reading my extremely informative and thought out posts. Just cite Mutombolievable in MLA format, give me my cut, and we'll be all good.
  18. Obviously I agree with this. Only thing is, can we stand Josh at the 3 with a REAL 5 and a REAL 4. This means A LOT more jumpers from Josh because that paint is going to be clogged up.
  19. The crazy thing about Lebron is that there are about 15 teams that would immediately become contenders if he was added to them. That's why he's so amazing. I can't stand the guy but that's why I think that when it's all said and done he'll be thought of as the greatest ever.
  20. Even though he drove me insane with the drama last year and will do the same this coming season I've got to go with Dwight Howard. He is the most dominant big man in the game right now and makes it impossible for anyone to score on us in the paint. Then, if no one is leaving and we have the ability to bring Josh or Al off the bench this team is amazing. We'd have an unbelievable front court.A close second would be Rajon Rondo. I freaking love that dude's game and think he is still underrated as a PG. Can't question his toughness and will to win. He does things that a player of his size should not be able to do.
  21. Truth. I looked at it from one end as he knows what needs to be done so he is intelligent. Looking at it as understanding your limitations makes him look unintelligent.
  22. I probably had the same expression. After the draft someone asked about the pick and the Hawks said they were very happy with it and would have taken Teague over Lawson even if Lawson was still on the board. At the time I wondered if that was to make Teague feel welcome or if it really was the truth.
