  1. LaMarcus would be nice but it's not like he'd have the same impact in ATL like he did in POR since it's all about team ball in ATL.
  2. I'd be happy. Hawks best SF since Nique.
  3. I don't think this past season was a fluke. They truly were one of the best teams in the NBA. I don't think it had anything to do with injuries. ATL always had talent to compete with the Chicago's, Cleveland's, Heat's, it's just the lack of ball movement has always been their weakness but Bud addressed it and it showed on the court. Bud Ball can work. Hawks just need to be healthy. It's a possibility Hawks may not be no higher than 4th seed, CLE, CHI, WAS (if Pierce signs back), MIL and MIA could be top 3 seeds.
  4. I could see it. SVG seem to like ATL guys - Tolliver, Josh and Cartier Martin.
  5. The Hawks got a better chance to win the East than the Jazz ever winning the West.
  6. I wouldn't let a starter (Carroll/MIllsap) walk but I wouldn't mind shaking up the pieces around them. My biggest concern is the perimeter. The past two teams that eliminated the Hawks in playoffs had more than one playmaker on the perimeter that the Hawks couldn't stop - Pacers (George/Stephenson), Cavs (James/JR Smith). Korver is underrated help defender and shot blocker, however, he doesn't bring the type of defense Teague and Carroll brings which is why at 34 he may be better suited off the bench in a 6th man role like Ray Allen in his last days. Bazemore showed in the playoffs he can play, having 3 legit defenders on the floor against these dynamic offenses leaves less pressure on the bench. Bazemore gets better every year and is younger than Carroll, I can only imagine how much better he'll get this summer, especially going into contract year. Thabo is a solid defender but he can't stay healthy. I'd draft a SF that can play D and shoot the 3. I'd trade Scott with a 2nd round pick to Philly and move Muscula to backup PF permanently. Meanwhile, I'd bring Tavares over to be backup center and have Antić take Brand's role. Starters - Teague/Bazemore/Carroll/Millsap/Horford Bench - Dennis/Korver/Thabo/Muscula/Tavares Horford could play some PF with Tavares sometimes and Millsap could play alongside Tavares to give opposing defenses a different look.
  7. Anything over 8 mil is overpaying for Carroll. If he was younger, he'd deserve the huge 10+ mil pay raise.
  8. I can't see him going to Utah. ATL is the best situation for him.
  9. I know the Hawks had interest in Ellis in the past but I don't think him and Teague were ever meant to play together. Monta on the Hawks wouldn't work unless he's the primary ballhandler.
  10. I guess the Hawks could sign Gary Neal. He's a UFA.
  11. I don't know if the S & C coach when Steve Nash was in PHX is still in PHX but get him, he did wonders to keep Nash, Amare and Hill healthy.
  12. It depends on how well Tavares develops. This could be a situation like the Nuggets had this season when they had Mozgov and drafted Nurkic. Nuggets dealt the older starter and let the rookie develop.
  13. I saw Elton Brand give the players pep talks during the playoffs. I would have expected Horford to be the vocal leader but from what I seen of the starters, they just stood around like a middle school basketball team waiting to see how the coach is going to motivate them.
  14. I could see that. I just think when he signed with ATL, he didn't see them being a contender just a place to help him get a pay day but it turns out ATL turned into a contender. ATL got the talent to win it all, Korver/Thabo/Carroll/Millsap were banged up. We seen what a healthy Hawks team can do in December, after that they were never the same with all those injuries.
  15. http://www.peachtreehoops.com/2013/4/14/4223096/josh-smith-nba-free-agency-atlanta-hawks Keep in mind Ferry was the GM at the time too.
  16. The only thing Monroe has over Millsap is his age. Monroe isn't that good of a defender, rebounder or shooter which would hurt the team overall than help it. Hawks would literally need Ibaka not Horford to make this work.
  17. I get Millsap would be loyal and stay at a team friendly long term deal since the Hawks are a contender. Carroll, I think he'll go to whoever pays him the most. I think he'll be a Piston.
  18. From what I seen this season, Elton Brand was the vocal leader. I was hoping to see that out of Millsap or Al.
  19. I'd keep Millsap, he wasn't healthy during the playoffs I'd take him over everyone on the list except Marc Gasol which isn't realistic. Booker would be a good look for ATL
  20. I don't think Josh would come back to ATL, especially if Millsap is the starter. The main reason he left was so he can spread his wings, ATL offered him plenty of money to stay. If he did play in ATL, he would be a good fit though.
  21. I'd resign Carroll/Millsap to whatever contract they want. A healthy Carroll/Millsap is better than anything the Hawk could get realistically this summer. I'd trade Scott with a 2nd round pick to Philly. I wouldn't resign Antić. I'd make Muscula the backup PF. I'd bring Tavares over and have him be Horford's backup. I'd draft a SF that can play D and shoot the 3.
  22. I could see Muscula replacing Millsap if he was to leave. Crowder would be great at SF. Gary Neal would be good at SG.
  23. I wouldn't miss him. He regressed from last season. After the way he played in last year's playoffs against Indiana, I thought he could be a starter somewhere if ATL didn't resign him or if Millsap bolted the following year.
