  1. Bud just doing it like the Spurs. Spurs drafted Ginobli in 1999 and he didn't come over until 2002.
  2. Stan seems to like players with ATL ties in DET (minus Josh Smith) since he signed Tolliver, Martin and Meeks. It wouldn't surprise me if he throws a big contract at Carroll.
  3. Chandler - Dallas' backup plan if they strike out on DeAndre. Thompson - wants the max/close to max, too expensive for the Hawks. Harris - wants the max, too expensive for the Hawks Pekovic - He can't stay healthy and his contract is bad. Monroe - he wants the max Terrence Jones - Hawks may could get him. Hibbert - His contract is bad. Johnson - He may be better off overseas. Beasley - he's loyal to the Heat. Neal - I could see him going to ATL.
  4. I'm surprised. I figured the Hank Aaron group was the one who wanted a new arena. Phillips Arena is nice but I guess they do need to upgrade it if they want to draw fans and get the All-Star game.
  5. It's hard to win out west. I just don't see how his skillset fits in ATL, Millsap can shoot 3s and guard SFs.
  6. I wouldn't make a big deal out of the draft. Anybody left on the board was not really an upgrade over what the Hawks already had.
  7. I watched him play in NY, he can get better. He probably could be the Hawks' version of Ginobli if he buys into Coach Bud
  8. I guess if Carroll leaves for the money, he takes the money set aside for Carroll and Korver slides back to SF?
  9. I think they'll be conservative but I'm sure if somebody offered a future 1st round pick for one of the backups, they'd explore the move.
  10. Makes sense to debut them at the draft party like the Hornets are doing.
  11. McDaniel/GRIII wouldn't be bad. Brett Brown coached them.
  12. Good topic. Hawks were fine last season, just sucks they didn't have a legit backup SF/PF/C during the series against CLE.
  13. Maybe that legit center could be Tavares. Yeah maybe Millsap gets the early bird max. It's not like he would have got paid 10+ mil if he never played for ATL, the least he could do is get paid but help the team keep flexibility, that's what the Spurs do.
  14. It would make sense for him to come off the bench. He's supposedly going to miss time due to his surgery and it would suck to shake up the chemistry by adding him in when the new starter would have training camp, preseason and early in the regular season to gell with the starters. I don't think Baze has done enough but he got potential. They got Patterson overseas, bring him over for depth.
  15. It's good to have some continuity especially after the season the Hawks had. When I first heard the news, I wasn't a fan of it seeing how Bud gave up on Payne in less than a year then sign Austin Daye and don't even play him yet give him an extension. However, although Ferry was a good GM with his trades and signing key vets to budget and frontloaded contracts, one thing Ferry really didn't do a good job since he been in ATL is draft well in the 1st round which is something Bud may be good in.
  16. Keep the pick and draft a player. SA and GS showed us over the past two years how important it is to build your draft through the draft. Last thing the Hawks need is to start trading away picks, putting all their eggs in the buckets with the starters and then wonder why they run out of gas during the playoffs like the Heat/Cavs the past two years.
  17. I had no idea Monroe's max was cheaper. I'd still take Millsap over Monroe, Golden State showed us this year in the playoffs how valuable a stretch four who can play D and guard multiple positions is.
  18. Yes. He's been a 2 for pretty much his whole career but he got the size to play the 3.
  19. True. Team ball goes a long way.
  20. Things only go up for ATL.
  21. PF - Start Muscula SF - Jae Crowder
  22. I'd give Millsap 18 mil, 4 years the max. His play isn't based on athleticism and he's a hard worker so he could probably play at a high level for the next 4 years. Carroll, I'd give only 8 mil, 32 mil, comparable to Ariza's contract. Carroll is no superstar.
