  1. So people really think we have added talent in the last 3 years.
  2. There were lots of things we could have done. Retaining Kev and JC weren't our only choices. We could have moved Capela or Hunter or Bogi for guys with more impact or for more depth. We could have signed better vets and free agents. People act like we sucked after the ECF run. We were 43-39 but we got royally screwed by covid in december. We hold the record for most players to play in a single season. Had we not been wiped out by covid games we would have finished probably 5 or 6 in the conference again. By the time we got to the debacle with Miami we had a lot of injuries but they just punked us. it happens. it happened to them the year before. So yeah retaining players from a really good playoff team isn't dumb. But you have to make moves to improve. Every other team of significance did that. Bucks, Celtics, Sixers, Knicks aren't resting on their laurels.
  3. But we haven't. It took Travis 3 years to put a ECF team together around Trae and then we basically did nothing but offload talent. We didn't try to fix anything but the bottom line.
  4. What a horrible answer. 'yeah our two stars aren't playing well together. most likely one of them will be gone soon and his name rhymes with hurry'. Great motivation for the rest of the season.
  5. We have the same players as last year minus one starter and we're getting basically the same results. So why are folks like "I can't believe we got another bad coach"?
  6. Knicks didn't either until they established themselves as a quality team by adding Brunson to Randle. Everyone was passing on them until Thibs at least established a culture and they went from bad to mid pack.
  7. yes. so depressing. honestly this isn't a fun team right now.
  8. Like who? To me he's a great backup wing with all those qualities. If we have to pay him Hunter dollars then no but if we can sign him to a good deal he's exactly the kind of player we need off the bench.
  9. Yep. Honestly though it could be (probably isn't but maybe) more about the hit to his stats which becomes a hit to his wallet. It is interesting how positive most folks are about Luka in general when he's a massive whiner to refs, sore loser, bad defender, has gotten ejected from games, racks up Ts, has drove away a guy considered one of the best coaches, drove Brunson and Porzingis out of town. He's an amazing talent. He needs to work to not end up with Harden's career though.
  10. My only point is not in comparison to Trae. These are bad decisions and lazy passes and it's most games lately. He still hustles like crazy. I'm just not thrilled with the idea of him being a full time PG.
  11. Now i get you can find examples of bad passes for anyone but these are all from one game. These are basically all his turnovers and the interesting thing is every single one is with Trae off the floor and DJ running the offense. Which isn't a huge number of minutes. I'm not saying the guy can't pass and can't make good passes. I'm saying he's gotten real sloppy and if this is who he is then I don't want this running the offense full time. https://thehighlow.io/video/ids?ids=24e0mo24AiWN24NYHr24WK8y2424qa
  12. OO's deal i think is a great one. To me the jury is out on Murray's. Seemed great at the time but we couldn't find a deal with 2 firsts for a guy we thought was worth $30m a few months ago.
  13. I agree but there again they didn't succeed either. What could the Warriors have been offering i wonder.
  14. I don't see how he's an accurate passer. He throws lazy one hand passes out of the corner of his eye. He routinely hits Capela in the knees. Bulls game he threw a no look right to the defender. He constantly throws bounce passes in the lane where bigs have to duck down to try and grab them. His passing has been disappointing to me but i feel like it was better when he first got here and now he's just out there hot dogging because he's mad about something. Compared to a general player in the NBA i'd say he's an ok passer. Compared to PGs he's definitely below average. At least this year he is.
  15. I've wanted him for a while. but will need the right 2 guard unless we're going to try hunter there. (assuming dj is gone).
  16. We could have signed (in theory) Carter and Drummond for what we pay Patty and Wes.
  17. Trae was horrible. Jevon seems to get to him. DJ is a good player but i just can't watch anymore 'no look' passes that go right to the defender, or off someone's knee, or into the stands. How did he spend 5 years with Pop? Glad to see Hunter being aggressive and scoring. 1-5 in the fourth though. Sadly better than Trae. This was a stinker.
  18. That was a good time.
  19. Yeah we're trading for KAT right? A lot of teams are going to come with offers for him in the summer including the Knicks probably.
  20. Interesting point he makes about when you look at all the opportunities (ie players) available and you narrow those down by internal constraints. Now obviously some would say money is an issue but it is for every team. He goes on to talk about "who we are" and "our dna" and then that limits the opportunities you consider (paraphrasing big time). This has been a big concern of mine. I definitely believe in having a culture and fostering that. But I'm concerned that Fields, Korver, and Quin are looking to acquire players that play a certain way (perfectly fine) but also exhibit their preferred off court behavior and personality. That could be (not saying it is yet) problematic when you're passing up really good players because you might not like the way they live their life. There's a very small number of NBA caliber players in the world.
  21. First game after the trade deadline is always fun. Interesting to see who is motivated and if the rotation changes at all.
  22. Focus on internal development Not interested in the buyout market Translation: we aren't spending any more money this season because we aren't going anywhere.
  23. I'd love to have him back. I doubt he wants to come here. I'm hoping he lands somewhere and gets to play in the finals.
