are Grimes or Okoro better than we can expect AJ to be?

Yeah makes no sense. I've been wanting DFS but he ain't getting a first rounder for the Nets at this point.

And this is what happened with OG and Siakam too. They didn't want to come to Atlanta. So that to me is why pinning hope on us finding another star is foolish when we can't even get these second tier players to come here. We've got to build with what we have and find more guys like Sap, Korver, Gallo, Bogi, LouWill who contribute at a high level but are underappreciated or under used where they are. We're not going in the tax for any one player. We're going into it to maximize our Trae years. It's the best we can do and we've seen that when you do it right it's pretty damn good.

Y'all want to hate on Bey but we'd be in really bad shape without him. And his D has improved. I wish a few other guys on his team would have his motor and toughness. He's exactly what you want in a guy coming off the bench or having to do spot starting. Assume we'd get Okoro or Delon but not both. We really need a backup 4.

When you can't really score other than on your own putbacks it's going to be hard to show up in the stat sheet. I'd say he's played well this year though but definitely a physical decline for him. At least he plays hard. Off the bench is probably a great role for him really.

That maybe true but i think on one occassion the offer was like a couple days before and he had a new baby. I could be wrong about that.

AJ for Okoro. Normally i'd hate that but if AJ is just going to sit then why not. But doesn't Okoro become RFA this year?

This would be awesome. Yeah nola probably wouldn't but they are unhappy with Val and they need DJ honestly. Clint would have worked for them too but now that he's hurt i doubt it.

NBA has also gotten really weird. I mean the Morris twins were chasing guys down in alleys and beating the crap out of them and they've played for about half the teams in the NBA with no concerns about their personality. I understand this is more a chemistry question but i don't think we have a good sense of how wildly different the players in this league are now from each other.

My take is that DJ wants to go. I also think he thought he was more sought after than the rumors suggest. I don't know if his personality is an issue or not but one thing i do know is I hate when he's the guy to get interviewed after the game. You'd think they would all learn that being fun and funny gets you way more appreciation than the repetitive "i'm built for this", "i just work hard" stuff. But i like DJ. I think he's in a tough spot right now. I don't think it'll be a problem if he stays but it's never good to hang on to guys who want to be somewhere else.

Hunter / JJ combined with guys not really executing or buying into the new schemes. I'd say we're a slightly better than .500 team if fully healthy. But we're not going to be fully healthy the rest of the season so our lack of depth is going to keep us down barring a trade or two. We have really been very healthy so far compared to other seasons and a lot of other teams. Knicks are missing Randle and Robinson but were still getting better. Memphis has like 12 guys on their injured list and can barely field a team. Cavs lost Garland and Mobley and got better.

I know what it is. It came out that folks wouldn't trade Austin Reaves for DJ and it lit a fire under him.

I'm going to add that this all star snub is squarely on the Hawks organization. I know we've debated the financial merits of what the Hawks are doing but having competent depth at the 3&4 we wouldn't have cratered so hard when JJ and Hunter went down with injuries.

Honestly someone should be assigned to rough up KD. He so easily takes bait. Now he also may rain threes down on us but let's at least make him feel it.

Who cares. Other coaches are following the lead of the player's actual coach and owner. This is why you stick up for your guys. If you can't stick up for them then they shouldn't be on your team. Look at who's still on the team.

Here's the other thing. I lot of folks on twitter saying 'watch out Trae going to go crazy after the break because of this snub' The whole point is though is he can't really play much better. Sure you can always improve but he's playing at a friggin elite level and working with an average group as a team. There isn't more he can do really short of carrying the whole group to the second or third round.
