  1. Well you aren't going to challenge lw3 for Game Thread Master but it made me laugh!
  2. I've been one of the bigger Teague supporters around here but yeah he looked awful last night. Just be thankful we have Mack. The dude has been great this year. And his D wasn't bad at all against some bigger players. I don't know what's going on with Teague but he certainly doesn't looked as relaxed as Mack nor has comfortable trusting the offense. Still i think it's too soon to say he won't turn it around. He's had some huge games this year.
  3. I think the theory is that if we get the one then Ferry would get us the other pieces including the second star to compete. Of course everyone in the nba is trying that.
  4. Yes. That's kind of what I mean. I just don't see anyone who is not in the playoffs trading their picks away. So it would be to a team that is looking for veteran assets. While I like our team i'm not seeing a lot of guys that you are going to plug into a playoff team to make them better this year other than maybe Korver.
  5. How about Joe Johnson? I kid. I'm not sure Love would be that magnet. He hasn't in Minny? Or are you saying that Ferry is just more competent? So who's on the list of players that might be attainable in trade: Love? anyone else? I'm scratching my head.
  6. I don't know. Those are hard questions. Can't someone else figure that out? Alls I know is we need a center and a wing and Philly has good ones they want to get rid of. I'm getting impatient as i've been waiting literally weeks for the Hawks to make a big trade. My brain can't handle figuring out things like contracts, salary caps and what not. I say the best solution is cook the books! That's a thing right? Seriously though I could see both on the Hawks but I guess that might interfere with the ultimate goal of getting a go to scorer. I'm not familiar enough with Turner to say he could be that guy.
  7. If we're trading FOR picks then we'd be trading guys that are needed by contending teams. Who would that be? Milsap? Korver? Teague?
  8. Hopefully that takes some attention away from us giving up 127 points to the oldest team in the NBA.
  9. Seems like Evan Turner and Hawes would be a perfect fit for the Hawks. If they are on the move I say lets get them.
  10. Probably the biggest crowd for a home game this season.
  11. There is no wrong side of 40. Just wrong side of the ground.
  12. That's about the saddest damn sports story i've heard. That's pretty traumatic especially assuming you were just a kid.
  13. Well for Nique's sake, at least the Clippers are a good team now.
  14. I haven't read this whole thread but i'd say you can't build something on a pile of crap. Everyone is worried about Horford being angry that he's still playing center. Think how he'd feel if our opening day lineup was Dennis/jenkins/Childress/Horf/zaza. How Korver wasn't a good signing i have no idea. The dude is like top 5 in the league in points per shot. Basically up there with the superstars. Milsap is widely regarded as the best deal signed in the whole off season. Ferry did what you should do which is find guys who play the way you want your team to play. Find the best talent you can at the time. We're talking a very limited number of choices in any given offseason. Frankly before Horf went down we were threatening the elites in the East. There is only Indy and Miami and it's not like we were going to just lay down in the playoffs for them. Anyway, the plan. 1. Be able to make a trade for an exceptional player on the move. In the past we've not had what was needed to pull this off. Now we can do it. Brand/Lou/milsap/korver could all in theory be moved plus we have a whole bunch of young guys and that can fill a deal. Usually players get moved for nothing much in return but filler and draft picks. 2. We have the right to swap first rounders. Sure we may not get a lottery pick this year but that doesn't mean we can't improve in the draft further down. And the difference between say the 18th and 13th pick may be huge. 3. The plan to build something and change our image has worked much faster than i think anyone imagined. We aren't getting blown out routinely, we aren't making sports center for bone headed play, Kenny Smith isn't diagraming how poorly we run the offense. In fact, its the exact opposite. The rest of the league is noticing that we're more than the sum of our parts. That we've lost our best player and are still winning. For a variety of reasons tanking wasn't what the Hawks wanted or needed. So we've fielded a squad that is maxing its potential and still flexible enough finanically to improve going foward.
  15. I feel the same about the negative effect Josh was having on the Hawks but to me it's not accurate to say he didn't work on his game and improve individually. When he came into the league he was about as raw as you can get. His ball handling and especially his passing improved dramatically. At some point things went wrong and in reality both the Hawks and Josh would have been better served if he was traded two years sooner than he left.
  16. Bob's the man. The Hawks should really utilize Bob and Steve Holman in their ad campaigns more.
  17. Very true. But as a boss isn't that really the key to being a good leader. Firing those who aren't team players. Not that easy to do in the NBA of course but its really the secret to success.
  18. If i'm reading this right (which is probably unlikely) the Hawks are 9-3 in games decided by 10 points or more. So we've only had 3 losses this season by 10 points or more. The only other teams with that few are Miami, OKC, and PHX. That's pretty solid. http://www.nba.com/standings/team_record_comparison/conferenceNew_Mrg_Div.html
  19. I hear that. But there does seem to be more effort and more cohesion. I may go look up but seems like the previous teams would get blown out about every two weeks. We've had very few losses by more than 10 points this season and i've yet to feel embarrassed by the Hawks effort in big games which was norm previously.
  20. I agree. I was really making fun of the King/Knight. I've got a statue already built for Danny Ferry in my front yard so I'm predicting he surpasses his predecessors but who can tell.
  21. I still think Josh was a good pick but was it as good as we once thought? Kevin Martin, Jameer Nelson, anderson varejo were all available too. I still think Josh is a great talent but in hindsight was he that great of pick for what we needed.
  22. I hope that's nothing serious. Maybe he's banned from the UK?
  23. I could see him being a really good rebounder though. He seems to have a nose for it. He seems to get good position to grab rebounds.
  24. I'm voting Billy Knight all the way. His hair is waaay better than Ferry's obviously and beats Babcock's christian conservative look by a bit too.
