  1. WOW....just wow. There hasn't been anybody (Basketball fan or not) at my gym who hasn't approached me about the Hawks. IF we win game 5.....pure pandemonium!
  2. I think everyone is really being too hard on Woodson. He's really done a heckuva coaching job this year. The pieces just haven't been there for him to do what he needs to. I think in about 4 years, he'll have this team winning 30 games annually. WHO THE HECK AM I KIDDING!I mean he's.....well...he's just terrible. No way around that!
  3. I'd rather trade him for a pair of those old pump gym shoes!
  4. Quote: I'm putting you on ignore, too. First of all, your free vick picture is juvenile and misguided. Secondly, this is a basketball message board. Your sig has no relevance to this site. Therefore, if you are going to be selfish, the privilege should be taken away from you. You need to check your attitude. Bumpy made a friendly request. You should respect this site more than a convicted dog killer who buried a franchise. While I don't agree with what Vick did, there are far worse criminals on the streets. OH.....basketball. Sorry.
  5. Marvin will never live down being chosen before Chris Paul in most circles. I am definitely happy to see him do what he's doing. His aggressiveness was the only thing I worried about due to his deferring to his teammates, but if he can hone any sense of killer instinct.....he'll be off the charts. It's just good to see the potential being realized by our young guys.
  6. Acie has the ability to take over games. In time, he will do that. Those drives to the basket were something we've not seen in some time. It was definitely exciting. Horford....wow, I think we got what we thought we had in Shelden, but with more "want to!"
  7. I'm a Marvin fan, but like most I'm wondering when he's going to be consistent and show more than flashes. He's got to show this when the season gets underway for real and I think he will. Knocking down the midrange jumper would make him deadly if he does it consistently. I'm not so worried about him honestly. Shelden gets a lot of heat and I never wanted him drafted, but I have to hold out hope that he'll give something to the cause.
  8. Well, I am anti-Shelden, but I'm hoping he does average a double double. I can't hold it against him that BK didn't play the draft right. My question is, if a player doesn't average 20 PPG is he a terrible player? If that player is 19/20 years old, does he suck even if he averages a hollow 13PPG (in the NBA....not the local Y team). Marvin and Shelden are both maligned, here's hoping they both live up to some of their advanced clippings! If Shelden sucks Monday, will the glee club be quite as strong?
  9. Far be it for me to chime in on this lovefest, but I think that Marvin can/will progress nicely. My only problem with Marvin has been consistency. I don't really care if people like him or not, but there are stretches of games (albeit, usually one quarter) where he will leave you gasping at the things he can do. I've been upset with him just as anyone else, but I think he has the potential to not only improve, but to be a significant piece for the Hawks for years to come. I don't need stats to see potential. Whether he reaches it in Atlanta is anyones guess. BTW, remember the cover on I think it was SLAM!, where Marvin was the center piece along with J.Smith and D.Howard. That was a classic HS class right there!
  10. Quote: The Vick apologists are keeping me away from that board! I used to like it quite a bit actually... Glad you guys are on board, but as a Vick apologist....well, I'll see you there!
  11. Quote: Yep that was the rumor going around at the time because the Rockets wanted either Randy Foye or BRandon Roye two studs we passed on for Sped Head. OUCH. It still stings......
  12. In the position we were in, I can understand wanting to get a "Big," but I hated the way we played that draft to get Shell. I don't like him, but I am going to give him the benefit of the doubt for this season. The problem is that with Horford, I don't see have any reason to believe that Shelden is going to progress, get more minutes or have any production above what he did last year. That blows.
  13. I'm praying that someone drafts Noah....PLEASE!!!!!
  14. Lest we all forget we have a damn group running this franchise! That group said that they had Atlanta's best interest at hand and that they'd do everything in their power to bring a championship to Atlanta. I just didn't know we should have been a in 13 and under league to get that championship.
  15. Did any of us seriously expect Conley at 3? I knew that as soon as we got the #3 pick. I don't know if he was right for 3, but damn he went 4th! Tell me how to cope with the depression of being a Hawk fan. Sothron needs to tell us a trade is forthcoming! IMMEJIATELY!
  16. I don't even know what to say anymore. I went from Yi, to Conley, to Horford, to Amare. There is no comparison about who we should have had. I'm just stunned yet again. Shelden Williams caused me a Hennessey headache....now what?
  17. well, it would seem because the experts want Conley, Jr. that we should do that. I wouldn't be against it, but I think the other PG's aren't that far behind him. #11 is the wildcard. If you get Horford, you alleviate the glut via trade. But I like the combination of Horford/Law.....scoring and post presence.
  18. It takes two to tango and the more crap I hear of the rumors, the more I'm thinking we're going to get shot in the foot. We can thank the ownership situation, but I'm saying IF we don't get any of the rumored deals, it's a no-brainer to get Horford. And to me, that's over Conley because we can get a PG at #11. Stuckey is intriguing me more and more.
  19. Did anyone see Oden/durant on ESPN live? They were asked if anyone were starting a franchise and Oden/Durant were not involved, who would they pick number 1. The question was answered by Oden saying Conley (imagine that), and Durant said Horford...."He's a beast..." I don't know if the Amare thing is a go or not, and I've been with the Yi camp all along, but a draft consisting of Horford/Law or Stuckey is awesome. The 'experts' should give us an A+ for those two alone. I want Amare...but I'm content to do the above scenario.
  20. You're going to be waiting and disappointed if you think we're taking Conley at 3. I don't see it happening. The Yi/Law combo would be great for me!
  21. If we choose Noah at 3, there should be a mini-revolt in the "A!"
  22. Ok, so Yi only played in the Chinese League, but he did play against our USA team which may be a small sample size, but I'll take it. I'm not happy or sad that someone works out against another person. Competitive or not, if you draft someone because they had a better one on one workout does that ensure stardom? Let's be honest, the agents are pulling the string on these workouts trying to keep their client from losing millions. Right or wrong it is what it is. I don't have a beef with Wright or anyone not choosing to workout, but it does look bad when you're at the gym ready to face your competition and you leave. That's all I'm saying. Right or wrong it happened.
  23. I wouldn't say it's a personal vendetta, but leading into the workouts, it was already said that Wright was too thin, etc., etc. Where the problem comes in is when you quote one thing: "This sport is about competing. I come from Carolina, where you have to compete game in and game out. When the time presents itself for me to go up against guys, I'll be ready." -- Boston Globe But you do another. In this draft I think Wright has possibly the MOST potential (but the appearance that he's aloof somewhat doesn't help his cause). IF we stay at 3, Yi should be our pick. Horford close second.
  24. Agree Ex. I think most of the Hawks fan understand that we ideally wouldn't have had to take another F, but I think Yi is entirely different from a skillset standpoint and is a 7-foot hard to guard guy. If his defense becomes more serviceable he could be a helluva player in the NBA. I'm resigned to the fact that we may not get Conley, but I would love to have Law. I keep swaying between Law and Crit, but I like arrogance in a PG whether he's scoring or dishing and I think Law would defer more than he had to at A&M.
