  1. This debate will rage on for years, but let's get it started right off the bat. First game of the season: Hawks vs Mavs...Trae vs Luka. GO HAWKS!!!
  2. I think he can do more than just shoot 3s off the bench. Omari Spellman NBA Draft 2018: Scouting Report for Atlanta Hawks' Pick https://www.google.com/amp/s/syndication.bleacherreport.com/amp/2780627-omari-spellman-nba-draft-2018-scouting-report-for-atlanta-hawks-pick.amp.html
  3. Spellman plays defense though. The Hawks are getting an excellent spot-up shooter who can score from three levels. Spellman is also well-equipped defensively for the modern game. He is able to defend multiple positions and play both the 4 and 5. Yes, oh yes he does.
  4. We have just started our rebuild through the draft. This is not the year to sign a limited player to a max deal. Stuck with Baze and Hardaway at SH at $30+ million of your salary cap is financial suicide.
  5. I think he meant to say a 'Defensive Center'
  6. This is exactly how I feel. My annoyance is not the player but the return in general (should have been top 2 protected) and the initial rumors of what the trade entailed - dumping Baze.
  7. No we didn't. We had pick #27, they were looking to pick Jamaal Tinsley, he fell to them but they instead traded him to Indiana for a future 1st. Parker was there for the taking, you know why they didn't take him - they didn't have enough information on him, smh. Parker went to the Spurs at pick #29. This was also the Pau draft.
  8. If you think this draft didn't give us that superstar player, then it's even more fool hardy to spend big bucks on a center with limited offensive talents as great as a defender/rebounder that he is.
  9. Exactly. This is how you end up with cap problems early with a young team that isn't ready to compete.
  10. Agreed. Hawks shouldn't be handing out max contracts or close to max contracts this year (by all accounts that's the expectation for him). Capela is a piece you add when you have established your young core and hopefully star player. We aren't there yet. This draft is year 1 of the rebuild, last season was the tear down.
  11. I've always said that coaches and players don't tank. The players play and the coach coaches the players he is given by the GM.
  12. It's not a conspiracy theory or made when Schlenk said was ok taking a step or 2 back from the playoffs to build the team, that's why he let Millsap walk and traded Dwight for the corpse of Miles Plumlee. Both Dennis and Bazemore have been in trade rumors at the trade deadline and most recently at the deaft - that's not made up. We are all speculating but based on these actions one would conclude that they'd both be available for trade during FA if the RIGHT deal comes along. No guarantees just possibilties based on past actions.
  13. Didn't think he would opt out and leave $28 mil on the table. With both him and Daryl Arthur picking up their option, Denver is now over the cap and will be into the Luxury Tax after resigning Jokic. Hawks will be in position to take on salary dumps for an asset.
  14. Baze may be overpaid, but is a really cool dude...
  15. Somebody is a lil salty?
  16. I proposed Bazemore and #19 before the draft awhile back.
  17. I didn't think he'd play SL even if on the Hawks (I was hoping the Hawks would sit him out) not after just finishing playing that many Euro league games while the college players haven't played a meaningful game since March. SL starts in 2 weeks. It's more important for him to be ready for the start of the Dallas camp.
  18. I can't like this enough. If that happens, we'll here how his defense is so bad because he has to carry the offense...sound familiar?
  19. From what I can remember from my past life: - unlimited likes - editable functions - chat room access - no ads - a Hawksquawk twitter feed - a cool nickname
  20. This I can agree with...Dennis was pissed about being offered in trade at the deadline, said in Germany he doesn't want to be here in his prime on a last place team and wanted to have a discussion regarding the team direction, we know he met with management, per Cunningham of AJC, he hasn't directly expressed any interest in being moved to ownership.
  21. ....To get out of Baze's last year at $19 million.
