  1. The trade looks very bad on the surface, but it's a lot easier to make a subsequent deal into the TPE than to try and convince teams to take back JC when most teams were balking on him and his deal. I will reserve judgement on the deal to see what we do with it. If nothing happens, then the trade is a real black mark on ownership and management.
  2. SnT for Vucevic could be a possibility. Lots of possibilities with SnT, with clubs looking to get some sort of compensation for a leaving player without taking on much (or any) salary.
  3. yeah, correct. Am i right that we can not extend the 25.4 exception by sending out additional salary in a proposed deal? Example, could we send out an $8M contract to bring back a $33M player? I believe you cannot do this, but it would be better for the Hawks if we could.
  4. Also Nurkic a possibility if Lillard ends up getting traded and Portland blows it up. Nurkic could probably play alongside OO, IMO.
  5. Of that, I could see taking a swing at Jonathan Isaac, another devalued player who might finally be healthy for this training camp. We could probably bring him on board for picks and still stay under the tax.
  6. So if we are looking for players to trade for making less than 25.4 next year, and limiting this for now to players who are more or less on rebuilding teams, here are some names you can play with: Mike Conley Julius Randle Andrew Wiggins Anfernee Simons RJ Barrett Keldon Johnson Domantas Sabonis Kevin Porter, Jr Jonathan Isaac Jusuf Nurkic Kevin Huerter (lol) Luguentz Dort Kyle Kuzma
  7. Furthermore, if it's not obvious to all, the TPE (key word "traded") can only be used in a trade. You can't buy free agents with it.
  8. Ayton makes too much money (33M) to fit in the TPE, so it can't happen. Ditto KAT. We can't trade out an additional $8M in salary to make it work, because TPE doesn't work like that. There are limited options which will make it tough to find a trade partner. We will be hunting for a deal like the deal that netted us Clint Capela....
  9. I'm hoping the exception is the point. It does give us an avenue to improve the team that we did not have. Still going to have to get it by Ressler though, because any significant use of this TPE throws us right back into the tax.
  10. He had a big steal late that was crucial to the outcome of the game. My hat is off to Trae. Now keep it up young buck.
  11. The main failure is that we were unable to make the necessary consolidation trade by packaging Huerter with other players to net a bigger and more immediate return. We kind of had to deal either Bogi or Kevin, so I agree with @bird_dirt that was a fairly easy call. Losing Kevin most certainly hurt our basketball. We are still awaiting a deal that helps on-court, and it's getting harder for me to really envision how that is going to come about. Then the Suns messed us over as well. It feels like we may have missed a window to taking the next step and now we're at a critical juncture in the development of the Trae Young-led Hawks. It doesn't help that a storm has just come through and moved all the chairs in the front office and even the head coach chair. We're starting again without any obvious direction.
  12. I don't either. I mean i've seen a few but wasn't my idea. Of them i think the only one that I liked a little was the first Guardians, because the little raccoon thing was really funny.
  13. Didn't realize he was this ummm.....concerned...... with things he can't possibly know or control. God is on God's time - hope this sort of thinking doesn't affect him too much. Hope he has his head on straight.
  14. Threezus nails it. JC has been available for the right price and nobody has met the price. That means we value him, but we see a trade through him as a *potential* avenue to make the team better. Not the only way, but a way. Do we have confirmation on what the actual deal was with the Suns? That's the insider knowledge that would tell you just where we draw the line on JC's value.
  15. 5 second round picks mean little to nothing. Very few 2nd rounders turn out to be at the level of Saddiq Bey, and we aren't needing rookies, we are needing valuable players both on the court and in trade proposals. His contract is right, the fit is right. Feels like we got a little better both now and for the future.
  16. It does seem to make sense from both sides.....i'm leaning to doing that deal if it's on the table truly.
  17. I think you always want the deal where you come out with the most valuable player. In that case Ayton for Capela/Bogi makes some sense. We save money which also increases the chance it happens. However I don't think it improves the team overall. Bogi has value that this deal doesn't fully capture to me - bench scoring will be missed. I'm not surprised either way we go on this one, i think it has to be a pretty hard decision to the Hawks FO.
  18. Didn't see the game but the box score indicates that we won the game with the second unit. Trae, for instance, was -11 in the game. What actually happened?
  19. He was much higher on this metric last year. His "TS Add" was top 20 last year. He has not adjusted well (yet) to the presence of DJM. I expected Trae to get more catch and shoots, but when I watch, DJM and Trae just take turns dominating the ball. They don't seem to make the game easier for each other. These shooting metrics don't take into account anything else where Trae brings value, most especially the high assist rate.
  20. If we do say, a Duarte deal, it would seem that would help us build the draft capital required to swing Embiid.
  21. But the scary thing is, by RAPTOR stats, you can hardly differentiate Reddish and Hunter if you put their numbers side by side. Hunter just isn't bringing it on the offensive end, and his defensive reputation exceeds his production.
  22. Remember when we got a first round pick back for this head case? Good times man...
  23. I was right there with you. No risk acquisition with possible upside, so i like it. I mean, it's better than having the guy we dropped, and I can't even remember his name even though it's only 10 posts ago that I read it. Talk about no name! We got the other Cam Reddish level bust now! Right back where we were lol.
