John Sterling - Ex Hawks Radio Announcer

Do any of you guys remember him doing the PBP over the radio for the Hawks? He is the Yankee's radio guy and probably the most annoying person that I have ever listened to. I am curious to know how he was when he did Hawks games or even Braves games for that matter and did he make stupid references to players like he does now with the Yankees? To name a few to see how horrid he is...

Sterling calls an Alex Rodriguez home run "an A-bomb from A-Rod," and a Tino Martinez home run as one from "the Bam-Tino," referencing the "Bambino" Babe Ruth and Jason Giambi "The Giambino." Others include "See-ya-nora.... A thrilla by Godzilla!", "Bern, baby, Bern!/Bernie goes boom!".

I am annoyed just typing this. I hope he wasnt like this when Nique was dunking on people!

lol, he is a kook. Thats why I want to know how he was with Hawks games. Anyone here old enough to remember?

John was a good caller. I enjoyed him because if I remember right he would say that a John Drew or Eddie Johnson shot was a "bullseye!" Didn't appreciate him when he was here, but understood when he left.

His big line for Nique was "Dominique, Manufique" (sp?)

I liked him with the Hawks. That style is kind of lost today but it makes it much more interesting.
