CBAreject
I like that one. I'd love to have Deke retire here. How do we get the GS pick "via Philly"?
gsuteke
it belongs to GS from a previous trade i believe. this trade should garner some attention. Atlanta does it because the get 2 first rounders. they also get expiring deals. Houston would do it to get Murphy. he's a good player if you can afford the contract. they also get rid of some weight in Mutombo. GS would do it for obvious reasons. this shows that while we don't want GS's players we can deal with them if a. we are creative and b. we are willing to take back some salary another variation of this deal would include Juwan Howard. he has 3 yrs left on his deal at 6 mil per
CBAreject
Oh, I think you mean the Philly pick "via GS". To get a GS pick via Philly (or "by way of" Philly), we'd have to make a trade with Philly for a GS pick they already own.

Premium Member Sothron Posted August 10, 2006 Premium Member Report Share Posted August 10, 2006 That Philly pick is lottery protected this year AND next year. No one in Golden State, both management and fans, expects to be able to use it. It turns into 1 million cash after 2008 if not used.

Premium Member Sothron Posted August 10, 2006 Premium Member Report Share Posted August 10, 2006 AFAIK yes the exact same one. And it is still just as useless.
CBAreject
How does Philly trade these useless picks? I want to learn how to do it. Every time we trade a pick it turns into Quentin Richardson or Amare F'n Stoudamire.
Premium Member Sothron Posted August 10, 2006 Premium Member Report Share Posted August 10, 2006 They protected that pick extraordinarily well back in the time when lottery protection wasn't as viewed as vitally as it is now. It was good for them, bad the teams stuck with it. Its a useless pick only good for the 1 million cash value it has when it expires in 2008.
