At this point you just have to act like he doesn't exist. Makes paying Andruw even more unlikely. I wonder how much of his roughly 15 mil. insurance will cover?

He signed a 8 year 121 mil in 2000 , so next year is his last year right??

Yeah. It's something like 15.6 million. Only 14 this year.

that decision was made 3-4 years ago. he was no longer injured so the insurance company was off the hook.

i'm not sure how the insurance thing will work this time around.

When the trade was made, the Marlins and Rockies paid a significant portion of the contract. Hampton was a disaster in Colorado, but Mazzone and Cox believed they could turn Hampton around- which they almost did.

If Hampton is out next year, the insurance, I believe, will cover a significant portion of his contract. How this affects signing A. Jones, I am not sure, but I can guess the Braves will not give Andruw 16 mil plus a season, esp w/ Liberty Media taking over.
